I’m a mom and peds nurse. My 17 year old has fibromyalgia and I am doing everything I can to figure out how to help best her manage her symptoms. This video was helpful and reminded me to reinforce teaching my daughter some of some of the non pharmacological interventions. I also just requested her Psychiatrist call in a prescription for Trazadone. Hopefully it’s helps. I really appreciate that there are doctors out here who are dedicated to research and sharing of information through RUclips. Keep up the good work ladies!

This is extremely interesting to me. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by my rheumatologistj several years ago. I ache all the time and it really hurts to touch my shins, knees, hips, tops of arms, back of neck, etc. I was told there wasn't much to do about it so I have just lived with it. I also have osteoarthritis, urticarial vasculitis (in remission), high blood pressure, tracheobronchomalacia, asthma, severe OSA and central sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and diabetes. I am 70 and I seriously don't remember the last time I woke up feeling refreshed. It was so weird to hear you say some people are afraid to go to bed, because that's how I feel! My mind turns on, then if I lay in one position too long, it hurts. I finally fall asleep when most people are getting up. I am on a BiPAP every night and it doesn't seem to help. I also need the BiPAP for the tracheobronchomalacia (TBM). The forced air keeps my airways from collapsing. I am on a lot of medication already and see more specialists than days in the week so I really don't want to add to my list. My sleep doctor is a neurologist and wants me to have another sleep study because I've developed central sleep apnea and my OSA is increasing. Are there any specific questions I should discuss with him before the sleep study that may help? Thank you!

This is the video I've been looking for! My profound fatigue is by far the worst part of my fibromyalgia. I can handle my level of pain, but I can't handle the exhaustion. I'm literally struggling to stay awake at 12:00 pm while watching this. I am taking magnesium, but it's not seeming to help. I'll try the magnesium glycinate. I was on Lyrica for a little over 4 months and wasn't seeing any benefits, sleep or otherwise, so I weaned off of it. I would love to hear more specifics about sleep habits. Thank you so much for this! It means the world!

You described my sleep really well when you used the aircraft analogy. I only said to my husband the other day I feel like I’ve been on a long haul flight. 90% of the time I go to sleep with very little problem but then way up around 3-4 in a lot of pain and that is often it for the night. Other times I fall asleep again around 6-7. My rheumatologist has given me nortriptyline 20mg a night but it’s not really helping sleep which he said it would! It has helped relentless migraines though 😊

What is the (she/her) after your name?

      It's her preferred pronouns.

Not a great recommendation for objective thought, though of course there's huge pressure to conform to gender contagion.

@@arne8feb I wanted to watch the video, but as soon as I noticed the pronoun nonsense, I stopped watching it.
