I was confused myself for the longest time. Strangely even Affinity Photo didn't have a low pass filter. Only Pixelmator Pro allowed me to compare the output and what it really did.
Great explanation! Thanks so much - I have an Adobe subscription on my Mac, but am now thinking of cancelling that and purchasing this instead. My use cases are creating social media posts, upscaling & enhancing old images, and adding creative effects. Do you recommend this tool over the competition?
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing. And will definetly use these new features. But unfortunaletly nothing can still beat Affinity Photo's Tone Mapping Persona. Tone Compression and Local Contrast sliders are so powerful. So i have to edit with affinity photo first, then import to photomator. Is there anything like Tone Mapping in Photomator?
Actually affinity also has high pass filters and frequency separation which excellent will be making a video on it soon. Photomator and Pixelmator Pro doesn't have HDR or tone mapping but it does have a good texture and clarity slider which is similar to local contrast. Thanks for watching!
Is it better to use frequency separation with the high+low pass effects or the new selective clarity tool that adjusts highlights/texture for skin clarity effects? Thanks!
I would say Frequency separation is better as it is easier to use and uses the same high-pass/low-pass under one control. As for skin clarity reduction I recommend texture slider first as it is simpler and works great. I would try low-pass if I am not getting the desired results out of texture.
Thanks for the great demo. Very good explanation of a difficult concept.

Very informative video as usual. Thank you and please keep the Pixelmator goodness coming!
Thanks, will do!
Excellent explanation. The demo using the gray squares really helped illustrate what the filters do. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I did the test image to clear my own confusion as well. Glad it helped!
Once again great video, thank you
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
!
I almost always use the high-pass filter in Affinity Photo 2, but very gently;
it's the best sharpening tool I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing. What blend mode do you use with high-pass?

Hello, I do recommend this tool. I personally use for my own RUclips thumbnails. Some creative effects of Adobe will be better like adding bokeh blur.
