Catching Rainbow trout in UK Lakes | Trout Fishing at Coltsford Mill

- In today's video watch as I try catching Rainbow trout. Catching Rainbows in the UK in lakes is one of my favourite hobbies. I was also lucky to to be able to go Trout fishing at Coltsford Mill, which is a great spot. It was a cold day at Coltsford Mill lake but I was in the company of one of my subscribers, so that was a real treat!
All in all we had a successful day as we caught a number of Rainbow trout and a very unusual Sparctic trout with a serious set of teeth. Difficult day but still a few fish caught.
Fish were very shy to take a fly so tried a number of damsel patterns without success.
I then tried more realistic imitations using a pheasant tail pattern and a daddy longlegs imitation.

What a beautiful spot ! Terry loved his fresh water fishing, favourite was Carp fishing, especially the competitions! Happiest I ever saw him was when he combined his competitive spirit with fishing. Tight lines Paul x

Had a go once in states .first cast got it in tree other side river .freind tackle .ops .never tried again .

Hi Stephen I used to fish for trout many times a year and in all sorts of environments but sea fishing always been my first fishing love. But occasionally fish for trout as you rightly say is quite calm and not much clobber to carry around. Am of down to coast tomorrow morning at 3.45am yuk to get to Selsey in wind and rain😂 how I get on well that’s another story to be written lol 😂 take care and really appreciate you taking the time to comment cheers Paul 🐠🐠😎😎
