Edinbugh 100%. Better education, friendly and safer, a far superior and better lifestyle.
London being a bigger and capital city does offer more options but you’d be working crazy just to live. I know what option is better for sure.

Which areas in Edinburgh would you recommend for HK family with kids to settle (in year admission for secondary school required) ??
Hi, I would suggest Morningside for Hong Kong family with children intending to move to Edinburgh for reasons that I posted on Facebook page @bnopathway recently. The relevant article is called "介紹一下我最喜愛的愛丁堡區域 - Morningside”. As far as I know Morningside has very good options for primary schools, as some of our Scottish and Chinese neighbors used to move to the area for this reason. However, it will need some research on the secondary school options, which we can provide if needed.
I am based in Edinburgh and although Morningside gets everyone's attention, the areas around such as Bruntsfield, Marchmont and The Grange are just as good. Please PM me if you want to know about the schools and catchment areas and also other Edinburgh related inquiries.

@@BNOPathway I like Morningside very much, especially the people there. Morningside also belongs to school catchment - James Gillespie's High School (Number 2 in Edinburgh and 12th in Scotland). Number 1 is Boroughmuir High School which was "State School" = 1st in Scotland few years ago
@@David-fu3vr There is little to no chance of getting into either Boroughmuir or JGS. They are oversubscribed and too many people have been moving into these areas so it is highly unlikely that you will get a place. To avoid disappointment you MUST consider other areas

A lot of your information is unfortunately inaccurate. For example, Morningside may be highly desirable but the chances of a newcomer getting a place at Boroughmuir High or James Gillispies is very low. Do you know or can explain this to your subscribers? I've lived in Scotland since 1964 so I know what I'm talking about.

我喺愛丁堡30年愛丁堡乜都有得食啦

天氣絕對喺最大問題, 畢竟香港唔會落雪, 而大部份香港人都怕凍. 其餘六樣嘢我都好同意.
住愛丁堡的話，特別係冬天，會覺得最好識開車，有車的話，從家中有暖氣的地方到有暖氣既車，再到有暖氣既商場，其實都ok。當然巴士都有暖氣，但要等車😂如果真係去外面，最重要係著一層層既衫，t shirt, jumper, coat, scarf, 千萬不要以為買一件超暖外套就好了。室內外溫差大，有時室內會熱要除，一到外面又要著返，冬天想不生病就要習慣穿layer after layer.
香港人咁怕凍，隨時London都唔住得
最起碼要去Devon Cornwall或者Hampshire, Brighton同埋Kent呢類極南地方
@@Pik871229 其實倫敦陽光氣溫同Hampshire, Brighton感覺相差不太大. 當然好天看到海, 心情會靚啲, 但海風會令我地港人頂唔順.
想請問一下 , 在倫敦生活 , 會否碰上被歧視的情況 ? 我指的並非很惡意的那種 ,
例如我在瑞士 , 會感覺到當地人不太願意服務亞洲人 ,
首先行入一些店舖 , 會有很多人把注意力聚焦在你身上 ,
跟隔離枱點同一個餐 , 又故意不給你麵包 , 但隔離就有 , 就算你主動問 , 都不給你 ,
進入一些很多空枱的餐廳 , 服務員還是會跟你說沒有位置 , 我們當跟他說可以等有空枱 , 他的回覆是你這個晚上很難會等到 , 當時是下午五點鐘 ,
這些人表面上其實都很有禮貌 , 只是十分冷漠 , 目無表情 , 會用這些方式令人感到難受 !
我還試過好幾次 , 在街上被陌生人看著冷笑 , 其中有一次是我在排隊 , 對方光明正大打我尖 , 然後看著我冷笑

亞歷氏劉師父 那你遇到的情況已算是很惡意了😭 I am sorry to hear what you have experienced...坦白說我沒有去過瑞士，而瑞士也很大，不知道你住的地方是不是亞洲人比較少呢？同樣的，倫敦也很大，我的經驗也只限於個人的。不過，感覺上倫敦人對亞洲人的歧視並不嚴重。但歧視這個議題其實跟性別和年齡也有關。我自己經歷最嚴重的一次是被幾個十多歲男仔叫chinese pig, 當然這是很offensive的字，絕對是歧視，但由於是年紀較少的人做的，所以我會覺得似係壞孩子搞事，如果係成年人做的，我的感覺可能更強。不過你的經驗可能反映你身處的地方較少多元化的族群。如果你遇到的這些餐廳或店舖給你不好的經驗，那下次就不要再去好了，總會有一些人沒有修養或文化，也總會有好的又樂意為你服務的地方。

我係歐洲大陸同英國未感受到歧視，絕大多數白人好友善。唯一一次係德國一個小鎮餐館嘅跑堂態度好差。歧視亞洲人嘅白人都係底層嘅loser，唔使介意。

可唔可以當有80%同愛丁堡差唔多, 不過 好似多啲工作機會
Glasgow 個人去過幾次，建築上無愛丁堡咁靚，建築在英國很重要，很能判斷一個城市的歷史和人民質素。Glasgow 是傳統上working class的城市, 名聲一般，有些地方還是不要晚上去。當然作為一個城市，它比愛丁堡大，工作可能會多機會一點（當然其實好睇你做咩工)。我會覺得住Glasgow 的話你要street wise 一點，要特別有避免麻煩的senses, 住愛丁堡相對可以輕鬆點。我也有朋友住Glasgow, 其實住久了就練到了，不過作為Asian 的第一個起步，Glasgow 會有一點點挑戰。
Glasgow生活成本比Edinburgh平
而且交通一樣咁方便
仲要係蘇格蘭最大城市
治安係會差d，不過唔代表冇好區
最少格拉斯哥大學嘅西區係最好嘅
而當地口音比起東岸城市愛丁堡難明得多，但不失體驗風土人情好機會
工作機會兩者應該差唔多
Edinburgh就應該較偏向旅遊業
Glasgow都仲有重工業同埋工程相關嘅工種
但據聞近年都向服務業發展
Glasgow好似好污糟，周圍都係老鼠垃圾(睇戲睇返黎za , 唔好當真)

If you really want to know about Scottish education, try asking someone who grew up here, did all levels, university degree and has 30 years teaching experience. Me.
Actually the ancient universities aren't that bad at all (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews)
some of the British politicians (even Prime minister) and Hong Kong officials were educated there
(i.e. Gordon Brown)
for example Edinburgh Uni is top 20 in UK and top 50 in the world
the current principal was the vice chancellor of HKU.

@@dk-hp6mi The better areas no longer have school places. I would recommend Currie and Balerno as both high schools are ranked in the top 3 in Edinburgh.
