    The French woman arrives at the camp with a dire warning about a group of survivors known as the Others.'
    The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
    Lost is an American science fiction adventure drama television series created by Jeffrey Lieber, J. J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof that aired on ABC from September 22, 2004, to May 23, 2010, over six seasons and 121 episodes. It contains elements of supernatural fiction, and follows the survivors of a commercial jet airliner flying between Sydney and Los Angeles, after the plane crashes on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline set on the island, augmented by flashback or flashforward sequences which provide additional insight into the involved characters.
    Lindelof and Carlton Cuse served as showrunners and are executive producers along with Abrams and Bryan Burk. Inspired by the 2000 Tom Hanks film Cast Away,[1] the show is told in a heavily serialized manner. Due to its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii, the series was one of the most expensive on television, with the pilot alone costing over $14 million.[2] The fictional universe and mythology of Lost were expanded upon by a number of related media-most importantly a series of mini-episodes called Missing Pieces; and a 12-minute epilogue, "The New Man in Charge".
    Lost has regularly been ranked by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[3][4][5] The first season had an estimated average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC.[6] During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of industry award nominations throughout its run and won numerous of these awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005,[7] Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama in 2006, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

    When Sawyer had his first chance to tell Jack about meeting Christian, in the episode Outlaws, Jack was chopping wood, Sawyer was giving him a gun, and Jack was talking about Christian and Sawyer kept quiet. Here, Sawyer chops wood, Jack gives him a gun, Sawyer talks about Christian and Jack keeps quiet. Two opposing scenes that complement each other to form a circle, like a trip around the world, which is indeed small.

    Interesting tidbit about the actor who played Walt, before the filming begun, he had a fear of dogs, but the dog was so friendly, so kind, that he got used to dogs and didn't have that fear anymore.

    I watched Lost from 2004 to 2010, and it is the only show I ever watched where I never missed a single original episode when it first aired. I watched this show in much the same way you did. Except for one episode. Every year, I left on Wednesday night to go to Vegas with friends to watch the first four days of the March Madness tournament. In the fourth season, when the show shifted timeslots to 10:00. That was too late for me to watch the live broadcast and leave for my trip. But, fortunately, my friend had a laptop and ABC had just started streaming the show the following day. So there I was that following morning, in the Venetian food court watching Season 4, Episode 8 on the laptop. I had been recording the show on my dvr, but didn't want to wait and take a chance of getting spoiled by overhearing someone talk about it. And yes, I had money on the games I was missing so that I could watch "Lost". "Lost" is that important.

    Lexi's spirited reactions are such a breath of fresh air! I watched another reactor who had watched all six seasons of Lost, with mostly a bored expression on her face. She only watched it because her husband was an enthusiastic fan of the show. She was the polar opposite of Lexi. I referred to the former as "Debbie Downer" because she bore a striking resemblance to that iconic SNL character and had reacted almost the same way. OTOH Lexi is a true enthusiastic Lostie! Yet unlike the original viewers, she doesn't necessarily have to wait 4 months for more mysteries and answers in season 2.

    • @letsrock1729
      @letsrock1729 6 месяцев назад +4

      Pretty sure most of us know which reactor you're referring to. I certainly do. And yes, she really was a downer...I mean, if you are that bored by something, why bother to continue reacting to it?
      I must say, though, that her husband's questions didn't help at all...like he'd ask her at the end of most episodes "What do you think is going to happen next?". That's not the way to generate an interesting discussion with someone who isn't actually interested. He should have asked more direct questions about her views on plotlines or characters etc.

      @@letsrock1729I remember him often asking her if she recalled what happened in the previous episode. She could barely remember. Unlike Lexi who can recall many details of previous episodes even when they were viewed several days ago. Of course Lexi had the benefit of a 2nd viewing since she does her own editing. • @TigerNightmare
      @TigerNightmare 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@Katerine459 I remember reading an article in the New York Timse written by Aziz Ansari where he talked about trying to cast Asian roles, but discovered how difficult it was because the acting pool is so much smaller, and even if people are talented, they aren't right for the part. It's not like there's a lot of ginyoowine I-rackys to choose from. Wikipedia lists four under 21st century Iraqi male actors, with two of them not acting until after Lost already started, one was 51, and the last never worked outside of Iraq. Naveen Andrews being of Indian descent means it's at least possible he has common ancestry with Iraqis, as the region's water buffalo breeding and rice farming originated from the Indian sub-continent.

    Another member of Rousseau's team revealed. Montand lost his arm. Previously we found out that Rousseau shot Robert after he was infected. Her daughter; Alex, was stolen. And Brennan took the keys!
    The last was mentioned in the distress signal. A version without characters talking over it appears on the Season 1 dvd as an Easter Egg, but it is the same as the version overheard by the character in the second half of the Pilot and partially translated by Shannon.
    It goes like this;
    Iteration 17294530 : "Si qui que ce soit puisse entendre ceci, ils sont morts. Veuillez nous aider. Je vais essayer d'aller jusqu'au Rocher Noir. Il les a tués. Il les a tués tous."

    Which has been translated by fans (and this is not a spoiler, as this information is only revealed here, and not elsewhere);
    Iteration 17294530 : "If anybody can hear this, they are dead. Please help us. I'll try to make it to the Black Rock. It [or he] killed them. It [or he] killed them all."

    Shannon talking about Sayid at the airport. You have to remember that this was 3 years after 9/11 when it was very common to engage in a lot of racial profiling regarding Arab people. Its still inexcusable, but understandable.
    I remember a scene in the 2001 TV series, "24", where an Arab man was trying to board an American city Bus so he could get to work. The driver refused to let him on and drove away. Unfortunately an Arab suicide bomber was already on the Bus and eventually blew it up. So the Bus driver's earlier racial profiling ended up saving the life of an innocent Arab man.

    And what if the fact Walt said "yes we have to leave" to his father wasn't related to the hatch, but to Michael ?
    What if Walt thought that finally, if his father wants to leave then Walt stop being opposed to it because he found a real father as Michael hasn't became mad at him after hearing Walt revealing that he was the one who burnt the raft
    What if the "No, we have to leave" means "because you want it, and you are my dad, and where you go, I go ! I don't want to be wherever if if you're not there... Don't give up on your dreams, on your projects for me, I go with you" ? I think this is all the story of a big improvement of his relationship to his father, Michael... That's why the first images of this episode are a flashback to show us how far they both were from each other... Walt always did the complete opposite to what Michael wanted because he was angry at him for not being there with him for several years... But now, Michael saved him, protected him from the polar bear, and he forgave him to have burnt the raft, he is his dad now, in Walt's heart ! This is a main change in the storyline !

    In re-watching the Sawyer/Jack scene where Sawyer says "Small world", the significance of those two little words are striking considering all of the events in rest of the series (such as when Shannon encountered Sayid at the airport). Also significant are Michelle Rodriguez's casual comment about being stuck way in the back of the plane.

    That Sawyer and Jack scene was one of the reasons why I grew up loving actors like Matthew Fox who can so instantly and naturally switch to crying in the middle of a scene. Josh Holloway had some trouble doing emotional scenes in the first three seasons in my opinion, but he improved drastically in the final three, and it's always great to see his journey from the first season from the last.

    Not exactly relevant, but as Lost is a writers' show like Twin Peaks and this new 3 Body Problem - all get pretty scary - Black Rock was also the school that the Irish writer O'Brien went to. He who wrote The Third Policeman - you know, the one with the weird dream-like, unreal, illogical place where surreal things happen, people thought they were being punished and had a mystical hatch they tried to get to. A hatch, old guns, jungle, a plane crash, enemies, island with sharks and a beached ship is also in some famous Tintin comics. Some writers were part of the Big Sur collective and these were some of their sources of inspiration here.
