Im going to uni soon and i have to decide on a course. I think i'll end up doing law because i can do it quite well and it pays well too...but i dont think ill enjoy it much. Do i go for a richer but more boring life, or a poorer happier one...
lol, im still in highschool. but for a career i wanna make it as a musican. ive been playing guitar for a few years. and im in a band. idk if any of you know where kenosha is, but the big band called weezer was from here. and right now my band is one of the number one bands in kenosha. so im hoping my career there goes far. :]
I'm also in Comp Sci with a minor in business :) Going in 3rd year here at the University of Ottawa. Does it piss you off that we are not getting the iron ring even though we are as qualified as computer/software engineers?
I'm going to be a junior in high school,I'm kinda nervous and excited because I've been home-schooled a few years now, basically I'm going to be like Lindsey Lohan in Mean Girls!I love writing and performing what I write more than anything,so I think I'm going to try to pursue that, but my parents think that you don't get a degree in talent so I should get a practical degree and job while actively pursuing my aspirations.Sounds good?
I dunno what i want to do...In fact i am being payed to go across Canada (by the government) and doing volunteer work in hope that in my nine months of going across Canada, when I return... I'll have a new motivation and have a direction in life... personally I doubt it will change anything.
Virtually the same progression but I'm good at English/love poetry. Mechanical Engineering - Computer Engineering Technology (needed 4.5 years to finish due to the switch) so I picked up another major (English) and finished in 5 years. Graduated, became a Technical Writer. Got bored doing only writing, switched to Business Analyst. Now I split my time between writing, graphic design, programming ect . . . Basically a jack of all trades computer related.
This fall is my last semester of community college. I'll be getting my degree in Liberal Arts/Sciences either in January or May. I plan on transferring to University next fall 2010. That way I'll have time to work more/possibly get a new job so I'll have money for when I move.
I always thought that I would end up majoring in computer science, but i actually ended up choosing engineering science over it. However, I'm only a freshman so who knows, I may end up switching majors, but hopefully not.
I started out in Engineering at SFU. But I don't know if it was not living at home anymore or what but my concentration was lacking and I couldn't keep my grades above the 3.00 average to stay in engineering. I then switched to computer science since most of the credits transferred and I graduated in 2000. I later did some business grad school work at SFU (GDBA program), but I'm still working in the software field. So that's my path.
yea, as of now im taking mechanical engineering first year university but im thinking of switching to business for 2 main reasons 1. your liable if you design stuff that fails and people die (donno if id be able to handle it) 2. you have to be inovative and creative and be one step ahead of what has already been done, which i dont think i can be
My progression was 1 1/2 semesters of university toward architecture, Financial problems forced me to stop. Started Navy but accident that damaged my right knee and left foot got me a medical discharge. All healed now. Since then I've been working while on the side I am an amateur archeologist and historic restorationist. That is my current passion. I tend to do things you can't make any money at. But I enjoy it.
congrats...did my first year automotive at camosun college and got the highest mark in the class...cant afford to go do second year yet plus i dont think i could work at night and goto school during the day..i did it for 4 years thru out highschool... did u get a student loan or did u work a second job? also...what the heck do they teach you in business classes..i could have sworn business was pretty basic..if it dont make dollars it dont make sence....what university did u goto
YAY! Congratulations Nadine! :) My own career progression hasn't been nearly as exciting as yours seems to have been, but um...I'm a junior in university, major in software engineering, and pretty much ever since I was a kid I'd been on my way here; my father was a comp-sci, and I inherited his fascination with computers, and with me extended that to games like WoW...so when I had to choose a major, I already had a good idea on what I wanted to do... Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes!
I went from... graduating highschool in 2006, to taking a year and a half of college in the general area, to taking a break while working at Wal-Mart, and now this fall going back for Human Resource work (basically an H.R. Manager) and yea... the rest is... coming soon :P
I graduated double major in music theory and piano performance for bach's and piano for my masters and I felt nothing. Absolutely nothing when I graduated. What's more is I'm not even using my university skills anymore :/
I went from teaching with 3 years background and now im switching to substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselor. Very differemt change, i know... lol
I got a degree in physics. I liked to program to solve problems but I don't think I could have ever gotten into IT. I'm good at analyzing information but when there's a lot to organize, my brain shuts down. However, I think I have gradually gotten better over the years at composing my thoughts.
I am happy to hear that ! I am so happy for you and nice to see you doing big things ! Keep up the good work ! I am looking forward to seeing you go far in life !
I graduated 8 months ago. Took 5.5 years. Couldn't decide between electrical engineering and computer engineering , so I did a double major. Oddly enough, I now work as a software developer in the operating systems field. It's a great job, but not a typical job for EE/CPE majors. Life is weird.
I just graduated from High School!!!! It feels great! I'm going to a community college to get my Associates in Art, and then I'm transferring into a four year college in California to get my Masters in Film!
im starting high school next year & i've been thinking about what i want to be first it was a nurse, then a chef, but now i'm sure i want to be an interior designer. yes we have or had something in common.
Congratz! I just finished my first year in comp sci classes! Love the programming && logic! Where are you planning on working with your degree? Or are you going for grad school?
I am going in 3rd year myself, computer science with a minor in business :) Does it piss you off a little that we are not getting the iron ring although we are as qualified as computer/software engineers?
Congrats Nadine! I've always had this musical side and this more exact side to me. Good at math and physics too, but at the same time A's in Music class, always playing in bands and writing for the students run newspaper. I decided to leave the creative stuff as my hobbies, and I've studied Human Technology (that's about usability) and Informatics so far.
Im going into 10th grade and History and science is my strongpoint but english and spanish are my downfall. I think i might want to be a dentist and make alot of money, or be a biologist. Im in all CP so i dont think that those things are going to happen and il be living in a box. What do you viewers/Nadine think of this?
Nadine, First off Congrats.... I never went to University. Started changing tires, then working on the first generation of PC's. Next I was negotiating and purchasing stuff. I am comfortable now, but could have done so much more. Congratulations for achieving your goal(s). The sky's the limit! I' am excited for you!!!
Congrats!!! I went through a similar progression as you... really liked architecture in my snr yr of HS, but was persuaded by various people in my life to major in Engineering. Enjoyed it the first year, although it was def hard stuff. Went back and did it again for my first semester of soph year and after that i realized it wasnt for me. So i went through a transitional period, completing general education classes and now im in my 4th year of college pursuing my major in Environmental Design!!
congrats! I also graduated! I loved writing in high school and I get along with people so my counselor told me to go for advertising and public relations I was 2 years in that I liked it, but I like the aspect of creating more so I transfered to audiovisual communications and I love film and filming and now I'm applying to grad school, film seriously congrats and you finished "on time" or whatever some people take forever its a relief
First of all, BIG congrats on graduating :) I am very proud of ya! As far as what I wanted to do with my life. When I first really started considering it, I wanted to be a Naval Aviator and wanted to go to the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Ended up giving up on that, though... can't really remember why. Anyway, I went to Clemson University and went into the Comp Sci program. Stayed with it and graduated four years later with BS in Comp Sci. Best of all, I'm using my degree at my job :)
haha, i graduated in May and i'm still wondering about life i'm capable of getting my master's but why add on more debt? I'd love to be financially set to really do what i want but i'm stuck deciding on work/grad school good luck!
going into grade 12, and think im going to go into something to do with fitness because im very athletic, good at sports and i work out like 3-4 days a week so its pretty much my life
Haha. Okay. My progession. I'm a junior in high school. I should have been a senior but illness had me retaking my freshman year. Yay. Anywhoo.... It started out with me wanting to do Marine Biology, then I decided I liked working with younger kids so I wanted to do a pre-school type deal. I took a home economics class and realized I loved cooking and baking so now I am "set" on becoming a chef and running a Bed and Breakfast.
CONGRATULATIONS NADINE!! I'm so happy for you. I knew you could do it. You are so smart, creative, funny. I never went to college and kind of regret it. I just focused on graduating high school. Just ended up becoming a truck driver after a few dead end jobs.
Second year here, I'm I'm so lost in what to do. =/ Road 1: Major: Communications Design (focus on Graphics) Minor: French and Fashion Design (May do a double major with CD and FD, but for now it's a minor.) Road 2: Major: History (Focus on Europe) Minor: French and International Relations Road 3: Major: Psychology and History Minor: French and Sociology (Weird combo, I know but they work in odd ways.) Along with French, I'm learning 4 other languages: Italian, German, Japanese and ASL.
Congrats! which university did you graduate from? University of British Columbia (UBC) or University of Victoria (UVic) or SFU?? I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia :)
Congratulations on graduating! I switched through a lot of career choices as well. In high school I started out wanting to be a barber, then I really enjoyed science class and thought I wanted to be a physicist or other type of scientist. In my first semester of college though I found the science and math classes to be more difficult than I expected. I then found accounting and really fell in love with it. It just really made sense to me and that is what I do now.
I started out as a Bio major, but I was determined to switch out of it already during my fall semester of freshman year. They let me switch over winter session, and now I'm studying mechanical engineering, about to start my sophomore year. I hated reading and writing against my will, and I was always good at physics and math. I agree with you though, programming is fun as well :)
Gratulations Nadine!!! I studied CS for four years, but unfortunately never graduated, begun to work before I completed it. I'm one in the minority on this planet that is blessed with a work I think is fun every day! :)
I am very proud of you! You are doing well for yourself and you ambition and drive will take you far. Just don't forget us little people when you become super famous.
i'm going into my last year of a Masters in Physics, and i also suck at English, if i had managed to get an A in English i would've done medicine but apparently 4 A's and a C isn't good enough! so yeh... doing my Masters in Quantum Mechanics this year and going to do a 1 year Masters in French as a postgrad. Possibly a PhD afterwards, who knows!
Congratulations on graduating! I progressed from Film Studies to Computing, and I'm glad I made the switch! Not sure what I'd have done with a degree in Film Studies.
Well done, always great to hear good news! Myself, I've nearly completed a similar path (except in the Australian education system - so it's a bit different). Originally wanted to do Engineering/Commerce but changed to do Business and Information Systems. Turned out to be the best choice ever, I can certainly say great choice mixing the logic of science and business - certainly seems to be the way to go for jobs at the moment! Hope you do well.
I sucked at English too! Very good at Math. Started off in EE. Switched to Math Junior year b/c I was so lost in EE labs, theory not so bad, putting it into practice = problem. I've worked as a computer programmer for 30 years, all for the same company. Got Masters in CS long time ago. I so want to change now though. I'm so bored with programming. Sick of sitting behind a desk. Going to try teaching this Fall - nights at a community college. You have a good edu combo. Good luck!
I'm going to be a college freshman. Well, I guess I am one, but I start up in the next couple of days. No major so far, but I might be a theatre minor next semester.
Congratulations!!!!! Hope you go somewhere with it. I know too many people that graduated and did nothing with it. Good Luck. Hope to hear from you soon.:)
Congrats :D I'm just finishing up my first term as an Electrical Engineering major, I'm considering double majoring in either Mathematics or History. I wanted to minor in Sound Engineering but my school doesn't offer it. Oh well, I get a bit of it through my EE courses so it all works out.
how we interact, how all of that is just a bunch of cells firing off electicity. just find the human mind an amazing peice of work. philosophy degree is well because i took a few philosophy courses mostly dealing with how to symbolize problems so you can find flaws in the arguements structure and I always did like to argue alot so i figured it would help me out. so that about sums it up... idk what im gonna do next, hopefully go into
Grats! I took the fast track and spent 6 months in class now I'm an EMT and get to fly about in an ambulance all day savin' the sick and the injured. Love it! Good luck in the job hunt! Wish you six figures! Hudj
congrats on graduating and good luck in the job market! I'm a sophomore in high school so i'm starting to begin what you've just finished, but atm I'm thinking something with history, maybe an author or professor.
Congratulations! I also am going to study Computer Science! I've been influenced by technology and computers at a very early age, like at 8 I believe and started programming when I was 13. This year is my first year at the University and am excited to meet people with the same enthusiasm. I liked your video!
Cool, I just finished my last final this week and graduating the 23rd! :) I'm in computer net & info systems and my school ends in August so I graduate in 1.5 weeks (due to Co-op program). Anyways, a business minor is a great decision. For making the big bucks, it's good for becoming a manager and doing projects seeing the business side of things. But that means less coding or doing w/e fun computer stuff as managers. Good luck to both of us. Whipping out my resume in different places.
went to a small college and took a 2 yr course called Technical Communications. Found out how boring that was pretty quick and quit after a year. Then went to university and took a smorgasbord of classes to try to help narrow down my interests. Didn't work... since all I wanted to do was party. After a year off from that I took photography. I graduated this yr with my diploma. best decision ive ever made!! I love taking pictures, fabulous job :)
I am glad that you have leaped across this milestone! =) 500 characters are not nearly enough to describe the epoch journey I had was forced upon me. I chose my field of Engineering because it is the most critical thing to the world. Too be the world is suicidal. Oh well. :-\ The 1st 2 years were a repeat of high school. During the Engineering licensing exam I burst out laughing when I realized that I flew to question #17 before I even had to think! That costly piece of TP is locked away!
I wanted to go into Psychology since grade 10... I have no idea where it came from. I followed through with it and am now going into my second year of university. I really enjoy it.
Congrats on graduating! I was originally interested in computer science. Then I wanted to go into law, but since law school is graduate level, I decided to do accounting for my undergrad. I got so hooked on accounting that I'm now in graduate school trying to get my master's in accounting.
congratulations nadyne feel proud of yourself for what you're making and that all who admire you are proud of you, as my staff does not know anything about English (in fact does not speak English I read everything with google translator) but for I'm a good math, go ahead and never forget to hand your studies because you are so funny and unteligente so do not be distracted by other things that you do not convegan. Remember to upload videos, be waiting for more.
Congratulations!! I have to go to school for one or two years and i'm so happy about this, to stay in school and learn a lot of things. I think it's much better than working now. and after school i'd like to study...but i don't know what yet. :D I have to think it over this year! And I'd like to say, that your video wasn't boring, for me it was very interesting.
In high school, I wanted to go to ITT Tech. Then, I decided I wanted to go to a university, and was torn between Engineering and Poli-Sci. I tried Engineering first. Didn't like it, went to Poli-Sci. The plan is to go to law school after I graduate.
im currently in highschool, and i've always wanted to be an architect/interior designer as well!! but right now i want to be an enviromental designer if architecture/interior design doesnt work out for mee, im just really stressed about getting into a decent cal state or uc =/
I actually started college as a physics major, but switched to music after the first year. I now have a BM in Music Theory and Composition with a Voice Principle and a Piano Minor. However, I work in the computer field for a living. Good luck with your degree!
hey i was wondering what type of engineering u studied at university because i really want 2 continue it as i did it in school and now im doing it in college. Oh and yea i suck at english 2 well languge i failed languge paper at school and my retake at college even though wat i wrote i thought was really good i missed a 20 mark question on the bck of the paper and it kind of has bin bothering me all summer 2 the point of havin nightmares of being stuck in college forever . yea message me
Congrats! Thats awesome! I knew what I wanted to major in in high school--and graduated college just as planned--a BS in Fine Art and a BS in Business Admin... What I didnt plan was what I actually wanted to do when I grew up.... Good thing I haven't grown up yet... Four years out of university and I work on the family farm... who knows what I'll be when I grow up.
First couple of years in high school I was set on computer science (game programming). Then I switched to architecture but ended up hating it once I took a class. I went into college majoring in business and minoring in Japanese which I'm still doing as a sophomore.
Just graduated highschool, now going to study "Government and Politics". Previously I wanted to study architecture, but somewhere in highschool I realised I'd make a much better politician/political advisor. Propably leaning towards international relations right now. My math teacher was so dissapointed when she heard I am not going to study something related to maths :)
Congrats Nayders! It took me 5 years to get my BS; I started in pre-med biology, then chemistry, then education, then physics. After I got the BS in physics with a minor in math, I continued and got a MS in physics--it took 2 years and I recommend grad school for you, it's lots of fun, and in the sciences, they pay you (quite well) to be a teaching assistant After that, I took 2 years off and went to law school. I'll have a JD in January '10and an LLM in intellectual property one year later.
I have 10 classes left. My downfall has been Finance. I'm good with physics and english, but math trips me up. It's suddenly easy if it's physics for some reason. Maybe I can just relate to it better. It's taken me 5 years to get to this point. I took a year off to work and "find myself".My major is Management Information Systems. I can't wait until Spring! I hope I pass everything. If not, I will cry, because some are only offered once a year. :O
I am in High School.... And i think i want to be a Pro Bowler but my fall back will probably be in ummmmmmm honestly idk :( i havent found anything i would like to do for the rest of my life... but i am trying new things... im taking a phototogrophy class this year,,, im taking AP physics... and AP U.S. history... ASL IV and Pre-Calc and stuff...
well im just gonna be a senior in highschool but i do like physics a lot! taking a second year of it. its cool haha and it just applies to anything in life! :D
Just graduated from high school, didn't get into university. Have to take a gap year. Scared as hell, pretty much :( Impending start of military service being the main reason!
hope fully gettin into the air force academy next year already got my nonmation and become a pilot and an air force officer and have a degree in math and science
Im going to uni soon and i have to decide on a course. I think i'll end up doing law because i can do it quite well and it pays well too...but i dont think ill enjoy it much. Do i go for a richer but more boring life, or a poorer happier one...
Any updates my friend?

im nursing with human biology. i am so far behind because i keep changing majors

Along with French, I'm learning 4 other languages: Italian, German, Japanese and ASL.
Congrats! which university did you graduate from?
I'm starting college this fall and I'm majoring in Computer Science!! Wooo can't wait.
i'm going into my last year of a Masters in Physics, and i also suck at English, if i had managed to get an A in English i would've done medicine but apparently 4 A's and a C isn't good enough!
so yeh... doing my Masters in Quantum Mechanics this year and going to do a 1 year Masters in French as a postgrad. Possibly a PhD afterwards, who knows!
My programming teacher said my logic was backwards because the way i coded yet everything worked out fine.
How big is this squirrel?
Me:Nursing>Respiratory Care>Medical Lab Tech>Media Studies>Auto Body, FINALLY Graduate next year!! CONGRADUATIONS NADINE!!!
Congrats :D
I'm just finishing up my first term as an Electrical Engineering major, I'm considering double majoring in either Mathematics or History.
I love taking pictures, fabulous job :)
some sort of teaching cause i love to help people figure out how to fix problems and solve there own problems.
I am glad that you have leaped across this milestone! =)
500 characters are not nearly enough to describe the epoch journey I had was forced upon me.
I have a BS degree in Chemical Engineering... additionally I have complete half the requirements towards a degree in Economics.
Congrats on graduating!
I was originally interested in computer science. Then I wanted to go into law, but since law school is graduate level, I decided to do accounting for my undergrad. I got so hooked on accounting that I'm now in graduate school trying to get my master's in accounting.
congratulations nadyne
feel proud of yourself for what you're making and that all who admire you are proud of you, as my staff does not know anything about English (in fact does not speak English I read everything with google translator) but for I'm a good math, go ahead and never forget to hand your studies because you are so funny and unteligente so do not be distracted by other things that you do not convegan.
Remember to upload videos, be waiting for more.
Congratulations!!
I have to go to school for one or two years
and i'm so happy about this, to stay in school and learn a lot of things.
I'm in tenth grade and I'm very interested in journalism. I'm very good in English and I love all of the dorky grammatical concepts and all that.
im currently in highschool, and i've always wanted to be an architect/interior designer as well!! but right now i want to be an enviromental designer if architecture/interior design doesnt work out for mee, im just really stressed about getting into a decent cal state or uc =/
good job nadine! i'm currently a junior in a 4 year business program. i want to get into advertising/marketing and make my way into the movie industry
I actually started college as a physics major, but switched to music after the first year. I now have a BM in Music Theory and Composition with a Voice Principle and a Piano Minor. However, I work in the computer field for a living. Good luck with your degree!
I start college towards an International Business degree next Monday.
Woot!
hey i was wondering what type of engineering u studied at university because i really want 2 continue it as i did it in school and now im doing it in college. Oh and yea i suck at english 2 well languge i failed languge paper at school and my retake at college even though wat i wrote i thought was really good i missed a 20 mark question on the bck of the paper and it kind of has bin bothering me all summer 2 the point of havin nightmares of being stuck in college forever . yea message me
now what are you going to do with ur major now? move to india?
i loved accounting ever since 10th grade in high school, im now going into my 4th year in college and it will take 5 years for me to finish though
what kind of job opportunities are avilable with a computer science degree?
Congratulations. It's extra sweet because it was hard work. You earned it. Keep your future goals in focus. Good luck.
Just graduated highschool, now going to study "Government and Politics". Previously I wanted to study architecture, but somewhere in highschool I realised I'd make a much better politician/political advisor. Propably leaning towards international relations right now. My math teacher was so dissapointed when she heard I am not going to study something related to maths :)
its actually harder to find a job in canada than in the US, generally. (excluding alberta)
Congrats Nayders!
It took me 5 years to get my BS; I started in pre-med biology, then chemistry, then education, then physics. After I got the BS in physics with a minor in math, I continued and got a MS in physics--it took 2 years and I recommend grad school for you, it's lots of fun, and in the sciences, they pay you (quite well) to be a teaching assistant
After that, I took 2 years off and went to law school.
just graduated high school and i went from
1 - acting
2 - artist
3 - computer animator
I LOVE SCHOOL
It depends on the province, most places you can.
computer science!.. so are you studying for java c++ or some other language?
I want to work with computers and technology but also want to work at a posh hotel being the receptionist.
You're awesome. I wasn't bored at all! And it's nice to have a video that doesn't need the "I didn't get paid for this" disclaimer.
well im just gonna be a senior in highschool but i do like physics a lot! taking a second year of it. its cool haha and it just applies to anything in life! :D
Just graduated from high school, didn't get into university. Have to take a gap year. Scared as hell, pretty much :( Impending start of military service being the main reason!
I start my journey to become a video game designer in a week. Gonna minor in acting, yay! :3
What university did you go to??? UBC or SFU
I just graduated Interior Design :-)
And now I'm going to do Graphic design.
presently doing engineering
not really loving it
but i'm trying lol
hope fully gettin into the air force academy next year already got my nonmation
and become a pilot and an air force officer
