This is the most beautiful bass solo in the sense that everyone can learn to play it and enjoy it as if they'd written it themselves. Thank you for this amazing solo Jason.
i love this solo man. the sound is awesome. Cliff's solo's were real metal solo's. Jason's solo's are more quiet, peaceful but epic. Robert's solo's are just epic cause he's unhuman on the bass :D main message: METALLICA ROCKS!
Robert: Very solid bass player with a wide variety of skills. Cliff: probably the most raw talented heavy metal bass player who ever lived. Jason: Pure music passion. There are all awesome!
Finally someone gets it, just because you like Jason doesnt automatically mean you hate cliff or want to disrespect him, they were both good in their own ways.
Rob is just phenomenal, Jason simply has just raw soul to his sound, but neither of the two could ever possibly beat out Cliff. I mean, Cliff was just a MONSTER on bass!
Cliff was personally my favorite. He made such a impact on how bass could be, and should be. He did what very little, if ANY bass players had done before and done did it the right way. Jason is more of my style though. I feel his music. He has such a beautiful touch with his bass and tone... Can't help but just love jason for it. Rob is a great guy as well. He gives a funky bass tone to metallica which is never bad. They're all good.
i grow up watching this guy playing with metallica and teaching me how to appreciate metal music. Nothing against Rob. But for me, Jason, James, Lars and Kirk will always be the true metallica, the nostalgic band who made me a metalhead.
lets just not fuckin fight about it!! i thank all of em "jason, cliff, n rob" for makin n bringin me this beautiful music!! Rip Cliff, miss ya Jason, n metal on Rob! cheers.
He's mainly with Voivod. That Rockstar Supernova thing is on hiatus now that Gilby Clarke is working something else, Tommy Lee is back in Crue and Jason is still performing with Voivod. Jason lasted only a short while with Ozzy.
all the ppl thats hatin on Jason Newsted has probaly never heard of him...and/or has no experience in bass..and/or has no talent in music watsoever..I just recently learned of him..and u know what he impresses me...I wanna learn more :)
I'd have to sgree with you on that. He put alot of heart into his performances depite all the put downs he received about never bein good enough to take Cliff's place in metallica.
the thing with jason and cliff and robert is that cliff played his bass like a guitar half the time, but he did it perfectly so it worked. jason played the bass just as it was meant to be, setting the groove and rythm. robert is kinda in the middle. my 2 cents
this man plays his instrument so wonderful, no metal bass solo but still a very good solo, he has got his own style to play bass. i think he was a good bass player for metallica. but rob now is a bass machine too :)
its the original riff he submitted to james and lars during the making of the black album. they only used the beginning bit so he played the rest in his live solos
what do you do when you need a break?
james:its called ''bass solo''
*laughts*
best bass solo ever
This is fabulous!
I love that sound of that bass solo. it sounds so new-age, and its really gives off that vibe that the bass has when you do play solos on it.
A short beer break for James and Lars ;)
Este foi de outro mundo...
I don't care how fancy of a jazz bassist you are. you have to admire this man and the beautiful simplicity in his playing.
This is the most beautiful bass solo in the sense that everyone can learn to play it and enjoy it as if they'd written it themselves. Thank you for this amazing solo Jason.
Ein sehr grandioses Bass Solo von Jason. Geht mir immer wieder unter die Haut, wenn ich das höre. Für alle die es genau gleich geht, thumbs up ;)

i love this solo man. the sound is awesome. Cliff's solo's were real metal solo's.
Jason's solo's are more quiet, peaceful but epic.

Finally someone gets it, just because you like Jason doesnt automatically mean you hate cliff or want to disrespect him, they were both good in their own ways.
Love that solo
Rob is just phenomenal, Jason simply has just raw soul to his sound, but neither of the two could ever possibly beat out Cliff. I mean, Cliff was just a MONSTER on bass!

Holy shit... what a great bass tone
Yeah, you have a great point.
I just saw 'em last night in Houston for the first time. Woulda be even better to see Jason with them.
cliff can never be replaced... RIP best bass player of all time
Cliff was personally my favorite. He made such a impact on how bass could be, and should be. He did what very little, if ANY bass players had done before and done did it the right way. i grow up watching this guy playing with metallica and teaching me how to appreciate metal music.
Nothing against Rob. But for me, Jason, James, Lars and Kirk will always be the true metallica, the nostalgic band who made me a metalhead.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON
He was enjoying it sooo much, too. Just look at his facial expressions.
Awesome solo.
Very deep and pretty. Love this kind of stuff =)
Only in the face of loss do we realise what greatness was taken or driven away..this REALLY speaks Metallica..
it's so badass... i want bass! i have to get my bass as soon as possible!
He is one of them guys who simply proves how u can realy make a bass sing with a pick... ;] + 5
lets just not fuckin fight about it!!
i thank all of em "jason, cliff, n rob" for makin n bringin me this beautiful music!!
Rip Cliff, miss ya Jason, n metal on Rob!
cheers.
i love the intro
jason is awesome
The only time you heard bass in the entire concert I bet.
They both have their individual styles. Both great.
Intro gave me goosebumps.
He's mainly with Voivod. That Rockstar Supernova thing is on hiatus now that Gilby Clarke is working something else, Tommy Lee is back in Crue and Jason is still performing with Voivod. Jason lasted only a short while with Ozzy.

great!!
This man inspired me with My Friend of Misery and I love that he plays chords on the bass.
one or perhaps the best work Jason did for the band....
Cliff, Rob and Newsted , they all play very well .
prolly the best solo of all time!!!
sounds cool
just a week ago I found out what tis was off of. It's called cunning stunts, and the concert is AMAZING!
Jason is great in his own right. I'm more of a Cliff fan but Jason's pretty badass too and he shows it here.
Jason newsted is#1! !!!!
Love this dude should bring out his own album off solo stuff...
wow i never noticed he was so good
The Best...
I Miss Jason

hes not dead dick,he would always b alive in the hearts of all true metallica fans,LEGENDS NEVER DIE \m/
jason is just to underrated but his my coolest bassist that ever joined metallica
jason for me forever the best
u are not alone there
everyoneone of them is (was) really really awesome
I'd have to sgree with you on that. He put alot of heart into his performances depite all the put downs he received about never bein good enough to take Cliff's place in metallica.
Cliff: Harcore 4finger fucker.
Jason: Best backup vocals.
Rob: Technical dude.
wish it was longer :D
the thing with jason and cliff and robert is that cliff played his bass like a guitar half the time, but he did it perfectly so it worked. jason played the bass just as it was meant to be, setting the groove and rythm. robert is kinda in the middle. my 2 cents
The greatest bass player
this man plays his instrument so wonderful, no metal bass solo but still a very good solo, he has got his own style to play bass. i think he was a good bass player for metallica. but rob now is a bass machine too :)
