Sorry you're having issues hearing the video. The sound is a little low on this. Did you click on the mic icon on the bottom of the video and slide it to its highest setting on the right? That should bump up the sound to make it more audible. Thanks!
great way, so many color combinations-wow. the only thing that I had problems with one the website changed some but was easily found and the music in the video was not needed.
So when you mix the colors and add to a quart, do you then add this mixture to a larger container to dye the fabric in? Or do you just scale up all the ingredients/water? I am trying to dye a jacket and want to use gumby green ( tbsp aquamarine, 1 tsp kelly green, one cup water).
+Claudia Soloviev As long as you have the right amount of water and dye, you can either pre-mix the colors in a smaller container and pour into your full bath of water or, what we generally do is pour our mix directly into the vessel will be dyeing in (like a bucket or sink or we follow the directions for the washing machine) and stir the dyes into the water and then follow the rest of our dyeing routine.
Hi, I know I sound like the hugest nerd, but I'm trying to mix a Tardis Blue dye (Panton 2955C), but I can't seem to find any guide online for mixing this. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you, Dani
+Daniel Rabinowitz If you're a nerd, you're our kind of nerd! Email your color request with the Pantone number to colorformula@theritstudio.com and if our dyes can make that color, and they most likely can, our dye doctor will create a custom formula for you.
A part of my carpet has a hole so I'm going to buy a white or light carpet and then dye it using Rit dye. I saw that the Rit website has colours to choose from and indicates which colours to combine, but it appears that the colours shown on the Ritz website appear slightly different than on my cell phone. How do I know which one would actually be the true colour?
Does this blend require salt and/or very hot water? Also unclear if additional water other than measuring cup water? Recipe only states a quart. I need a small batch to dye potholder loopers.
Meg Self Hi Meg, Rit works best in hot water, approximately 140F for our all-purpose dye, so, yes, please always use hot water. Use salt--1/2 cup is enough for your project--if the material is cotton, linen, ramie or rayon. Use vinegar is it's silk, wool or nylon. You don't have to use either but they help brighten the color. The amount of water to dye measurements depends on the size dye bath you need. Rebecca uses a quart here, but if you need something larger, say a 3 gallon dye bath, you can size up the formula accordingly. Our site has a chart that shows amounts needed based on three sizes of dye bath. You can find it here, www.ritstudio.com/color-library/how-to-mix-colors/. If that doesn't answer your formula question, our help team can get you more specific measurements. You can reach them at help@theritstudio.com. Thanks!

I am curious, you have 2 yellows, lemon yellow and golden yellow. By mixing with a blue, say aquamarine, should I be able to get any hue of green. By using one of the 2 yellows?
Exactly! You can follow the rules of color theory to create your own shades. We also have over 1000 color formulas on our website to create custom shades: www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/?type=197&hue=0&collection=0&collaboration=0
Quick question - I visited Rit Custom Colors section and all the custom color formulas are given per 3Gallon water size .. the video you share above shows the color formulas per quart size water .. am I missing something ? Maybe there is a different URL / resource you are using ? I am mostly interested on the custom color formulas per quart size instead of "per 3 Gallons" .. is this still available somewhere ? Thank you for your time
The color formulas created are based on 3 gallons of water but there is an option to scale the amount of water and dye based on what you are planning to dye. There is a dropdown for item size and based on what is selected for item size, the water amount will change. You can view this on the color formula page once you select a color. See link below. www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/
I want to dye a blazer but I want to make a mix color (Emerald). If I do 3 gallons of water do I use the whole bottle of the two dyes? Or do I calculate the table spoons and teaspoons to the gallons? How do i measure the amount of dyes? Please help
Hi Shannon, To create Emerald for 3 gallons of water, you'll want to mix 1/4 cup Aquamarine and 8 tsp Kelly Green in with the water. This is for our liquid dye, so just shake the dye bottles, pour them into your measuring cups and spoons, add the dye to the water and stir. To quickly test the color to make sure it's the shade you want, dip in a piece of paper towel. If it's too light, add some more of the dye at the same ratio. If it's too dark, add some more water. In fun news, we're releasing five new dye colors this April and one of them is Emerald so you'll soon be able to buy it pre-mixed in the store! Hope that helps. The Ritsters

There's no point in increasing the volume if the to-loud music is drowning out the audio :(
Thank U, for the info. on the color library! very helpful. Appreciate Ya!
