'Shadow of the Vampire' (2000) is an excellent movie as a fictional retelling of the making of 'Nosferatu' (1922) starring John Malkovich as German director, F.W. Murnau, as well as Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck, the actor who played Count Orlok the vampire and there is a nice creepy twist to this movie. Plus, this coming Christmas Day, December 25th, a new 'Nosferatu' movie will be released in theatres and so far, it has received many excellent reviews. :)
Thank you CREATURE FEATURES for your Splatterday night shows and Friday's shows for 2024! The worst and the best movies shown here on this side of RUclips! Special thanks to cast and crew for providing us the entertainment that we all love! My many thanks to the great guys and gals who visit us in The Chat Room each and every weekend :) Wishing you ALL a Blessed and Merry Christmas and looking forward to a prosperous New 2025 Year :)! Take care!
Janet, if i don't talk to you before then, Merry Christmas. You are a blessing. Sometimes I wonder if you ever worked with Gladys Knight, because you are truly a pip. ❤
This was a surprisingly enjoyable Italian vampire movie. The cinematography was great with excellent composition, dramatic use of light and shadows, ominous silhouettes, etc. and for once, the dialogue and dubbed English worked well compared to a number of other movies. There's no cheesy or oddly inappropriate dialogue in this movie. It's really fun for its atmosphere. :)
Fun Fact everyone THIS movie was what inspired the creators of the movie ABIGAIL as told by people who worked on the who spoke in great detail about the movie at a Horror convention panel my family attended a while back if you've never seen Abigail I highly recommend it Merry Christmas to you all from the Winthrop family
That was great. Excellent dancers and acting. The voice dubbing was really good too and best of all was the musical score. So many different styles of music in there and this was in 1960. Kudo's for finding this one.
Thank you @Creature Features for a strange movie, Fun Chat, enchanting hosts and Mod, have a fulling hollydaze!!! cheers n blessings to yas y'all🦄🙏🙏🙏🎄🎄🎁💝
When I first heard this title, I wondered if the producers were playing Mad Libs one day and tried to come up with two words that definitely did NOT fit together and decided to create a movie about those characters anyway.
Sunday matinee for me, I missed last night, a bit too festive??? Love Sunday Creature Ceature. Merry Chrstmas, Happy Holidays, everybody. This seems like a movie just up my ally. I love classic European horror.
I actually have this movie, 'The Vampire and the Ballerina' on either 8mm silent or Super 8mm silent film as a film digest. How ridiculous is that? You know you have too many movies when... ;)
Merry Christmas to the wonderful gang at Creature Features, and to all my pals in the chat and comments section..You really add joy to my life and i appreciate you all. God bless you, and i look forward to spending 2025 with you (where should i leave my luggage?). ❤
Hello Friends of Creature Features - as promised, that about a week ago or so, I mentioned about the nation wide postal strike here in Canada and I will keep you all posted. Well, this past Tuesday they all went back to work. However, the mail service for this Holiday Season will be slower than usual. You may mail your Christmas greetings by post to Canada - but it may not arrive in time for Christmas Day. It will arrive shortly after and even in the first weeks of January 2025. Talks between workers and union members will, again resume in May 2025. Sorry about this mess. I do hope that your gifts will arrive on time. It depends how fast things go.
thanks for your diligence. i had no idea that i needed to shuffle around the corner to the mail box. and, oh yeah, do you think the ballerina will teach the vampire to dance ballet?
Why don't you marry it? No, really, why don't you marry it? Maybe a nice little chapel ceremony, just a few close friends, honeymooning in Vermont at a nice little bed and breakfast... You know, if I could, I would marry Mr Smith Goes to Washington...
Thanks Creature Features” Haven’t seen this buried treasure in a long time. Love the nostalgia, of the period here in this old favorite, the setting was a little jazzy place with ballerinas and coaches and showed beautiful landscapes with waterfalls and woods and gullies. And a fantastic old grand castle, and the vampires were impressive. The ending got really hot, but the vampire couple should’ve worn sunscreen and had umbrellas ☂ to keep their light green complexion soft and dewy 🧛♀️🧛♂️Enjoyed this one✅⚡️🙀Enjoy your Christmas 🎄
it sure is your show i cant wait another one I've never seen i can't remember when i found you creatures but i have never regretted it merry Christmas and a happy creepy new year here is a like and a comment for your trouble thanks for the show
Wishing all of my fellow Creature Featureans a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. I'd also like to wish any friends and viewers that are Jewish a happy Hanukkah which coincidentally begins on Christmas Day, December 25th, and ends on January 2nd, 2025, and that alignment of Christmas Day and Hanukkah has only occurred five times in the past 124 years, so that's pretty amazing. :)
I have not been notified that I need to notify Creature Features for notification of said movie. Please, y'tube, all I want for Christmas is... CREATURE FEATURES!🤘🏻😈
I thought initially a perplexing combination... i love a good all spaghetti movie..this with a vampire and ballerinas ... goes together like Vegemite and toast.. with yet again ..with much in appreciation and a very merry Christmas..with you and all
SINCE NO ONE CAN REAL ITALIAN, THE REAL TITLE OF THIS MOVIE IS ... look at the biggening of this movie L'AMANTE DEL VAMPIRO .... WHICH MEANS THE VAMPIERS LOVER! HOW IT BECAME THE VAMPIRE AND THE BALLERINA IS BEYOND ME HAaaaaaaaa! 😂🤣😂🎁🎀🎁
Ever wonder why so many independent films like this were black and white? You might guess it was due to costs, but not for the reason you would think. After WW2, Kodak had massive manufacturing ability- for black and white film. If you were a "filmmaker," Kodak would give you all the black and white film you could use- at no cost upfront. That meant you could shoot your film, have Kodak develop it and pay them out of your ticket sales. And this is the reason you see so many films in what was obviously the age of color, shot in black and white.
@@LisaVanTunen Another bit of behind the lens history for you, was the anti trust case filed against the big studious in 1948. (I think it was 48.) The studios were buying and building theaters where only their films would show. So little filmmakers could not find venues for their films. Well the studious lost the suit and agreed to divest themselves of their theaters. Overnight there were thousands of independent mom & pop theaters across the fruited plains. And so between zero upfront film costs from Kodak for black and white film and so many independent theaters needing movies to run, it was a bonanza for black and white silliness like "The Vampire & the Ballerina." The US market was so big that movies like this one got imported and dubbed. And I suspect Hammer films owes its existence to that same anti trust suit in 48. The timing was perfect for the explosion of sci-fi & horror that ran all through the 50's and 60's.
This Italian 1960 flick is reminiscent of another Italian movie made on the simular year, where a scientist creates a serum that uses the youth of young women that the character kills it off from young women. Entitled. "The Atom Age Vampire." where a French girl broke up with her boyfriend, was disfigured from an accident. And the scientist who made the serum became the Atom Age Vampire monster! Promising her beauty back. But was trapped in terror. Maybe Vincent Van Dahl can get that feature! 27:16
Fun fact: Stakes were historically meant to hold them down, keep them from roaming, not ⚰ them. The stake has to go into the ground, not nec'ly the heart.
The good thing 1:08:50 ... about dubbing, is we don't have to listen to the Contessa lisping ("Contetha"?) when she catches her lips on those huge vampirian canines (teeth) 🦇🦇🧛♂️🦇🦇 That piano sure 1:12:05 sounds like a jazz band, heavy on the brass. 😂
I’m down for the movie and the Pizza! 😊❤ I can hear the theme song now for the film to the tune of “Prima Ballerina” by ABBA “Prima Vampire Ballerina Dancing and twirling on her coffin lid..etc” 😂
Creature feature, you are my number one fan, I've been watching creature feature ever since I was 6 years old, thank you for everything have a blessed evening and a happy holidays. Sign, Emilio.
“Did you know” Abigail is a much better remake / version of Bite which can be watched on Tubi? They must have paid a huge sum of money in order to avoid ever mentioning the original.
Giallo is a specific subgenre of Italian horror. Not a synonym. Vincent always uses "giallo" to mean all Italian horror. That is not correct. Giallo is a specific subgenre involving a masked killer with gloves, a mystery thriller with graphic kills and lots of blood, generally speaking.
Creature Features deserves a bigger audience!
We're eating as much as we can....
1960 is also the year LA Dole Vita was filmed. Another great Italian film!
That was actually a good one ☝🏻, thanks Creature Features 😉.

Italian vamps are scarier, because garlic just makes 'em happier.

The Italian title for this movie is "L'amante del vampiro". Which has absolutely nothing about ballerinas in it.
@@michaelrichter9427 "The Vampire's Lover" makes more sense. But SOMEONE was playing Mad Libs. 😋
