So crazy she called him on being a 'sell out'..bold!!! I personally think he's a great musician and totally original. Interesting interview. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for posting. Haven't seen interview w/ PW after THE JAM so early on w/ TSC period. Loved the surprising "sold-out" question. PW took it on calmly. A lot of my friends thought he sold out; I always felt he and Mick Talbot just evolved into their own "funk/jazz" modernist groove. If you didn't like it, move on.
I find that funny when people said he sold out at this time. From what? He was/is a mod....he pursued music like a person from that scene would...going to it's roots(jazz, soul...etc..) If he would have continued the Jam....now THAT would have been the sellout move(be the next Rolling Stones or Who cabaret act). I always admired his guts to go where HE felt he wanted to....and not his audience. And it's funny to this day....all the so called "Jam Fans"....who are still all hurt about them breaking up. Hey The Beatles did too...and were better for it....

Never heard of The Questions before, and Tear Soup sounds interesting.
Love tear soup!
Still just a kid. "I am a hard man, yeah." Hard to picture him and Sid Vicious in the same part of town, let alone close quarters.
Weller actually sparked Sid Vicious out in a restaurant once - LOL!
@@brendanmcpeake3697 'Twas that very incident to which I refer. At the Speakeasy Club. PW says Sid nutted him, and he returned the favor.

The yellow jumper draped on his back is hilarious!
It’s cosmopolitan 😂😂
great interview, lazy, thick folks could not stand or get Weller around this period. 'and if it don't work at least we said we've tried'
Weller looks like he just escaped from Haircut 100.
Sartorial elegance, the STC’s aesthetic far eclipsed the Jam
Who's the interviewer?
Anyone know what show this is from?
It appears to be Riverside (BBC2), 1983.
Respond was a good idea. Pity the bands he signed were shit
Classic outfit, how can you have your pudding if you can't eat your meat😉
