those bikes are limited at 25-ish kmph, if you remove the speed limiter it can go a lot faster without having to peddle harder (illigal on the road but on a beach it does not matter), the only downside is that the battery drains faster

@@cameronyoung999 maybe electric dirtbikes are a better idea then, you keep the mobility but dont get tired.
But you wont get tired that quickly on a e-bike unless you are going past the limited speed, and you are not able to drive that fast anyway (because people you know). (Btw, i have an ebike myself, so i know what i am talking about, bosch active, +-50Nm. If you have a bike with the bosch performance cx, then it is about 80Nm so with the correct tires it will get you quickly to the location without getting tired)
On top of that if the battery runs out at north bondi then theres an incident at south you need to get to your screwed and you cant transport injured people, not gonna offer a knee dislocation a backie on the bike :p
@@stuartmccubbin932 transport of people wasn't his initial idea, the idea was to get lifeguards to people quickly, and about the battery, its works the same with gas, if the buggy runs out of gas at north, you're screwed as well. You just have to keep an eye out for it and change batteries if they are (soon to be) empty

This is why I never get bored on this channel
they joke about this, but my local lifeguard station is actually looking at E bikes.
simply because on busy days our cars cant or are difficult to use in crowded spots on the beach.
also you wont need a drivers license, and the driver training.
so for us it would be a nice addition.
but our beach faces other priorities.
we have far fewer rescues per year.
we mainly do small first aid, help locate missing kids etc.
so for us Beach E bikes would be handy.
for Bondi it's probably a pretty worthless vehicle.

I really wanna be a lifeguard at Bondi beach but when you realise you have to move to Aussie (I live in uk) and buy a house at Aussie and train and when you realise you have never been in the ocean at a beach and you can't swim

To be honest i am surprised there is not some kind of powered rescue board that can be controlled easily as a boost to the regular manual power.

He is going to use all his energy on riding down to rescue someone then when he gets on the board he won’t have enough energy to get to them quick enough

The buggy can also carry more people than the bike can, which makes the buggy more useful, especially during emergencies or transporting injured people somewhere...
I think the only plus with the bike is that its easier to get unstuck if it gets bogged and i think the louder it is the more the people will hear it and theu can get out of the way

Aren’t the lifeguard going to be knackered if they are peddling a bike like crazy to get to the patient quickly rather than reach there ready to go out and save someone!? Great idea but you still have to peddle fast for speed and the battery just helps!

Most powerful electric bikes don't need pedaling at all so I think they were using an electric bike that has less than 750w.
