    I am a little younger than Rick but I dont' know how it was growing up in Vegas but in Southern California, no one was embarrassed to own or ride in Chevy II in the teen early 20s years.
    Anyone who knows muscle cars and Chevy IIs know that read end is dust with a big motor and trans.
    It's like someone who buys the newest model big boy MBZ and every time they gas up, they only put $10 bucks at a time.

    My first car was a 1962 Chevy II Nova II station wagon. My dad bought it from an older couple in 1984 and they were the original owners. They had never changed the oil in the car and it was running when we bought it. It had a canister on the fender wall with a tube that went to the engine block and the inside the canister was a toilet tissue roll and that was the oil filter. Weekly you had to replace the toilet tissue roll with a fresh one and top off the oil. Me and my dad overhauled the engine and put a regular oil filter on it. BTW- it had a Briggs and Stratton carburetor on it.

  • @1967davethewave
    @1967davethewave 3 года назад +2

    There were 2 different 2 door body styles of the Nova in '66 and that was the sedan or "post". It isn't as desirable as the hard top which has a much more aggressive roofline. I have seen really nice hard tops fetching $30 to $40k or even a little more but a post car I've never seen over about $25 and this one I would think would think might be in that range, even with the little rearend in it.

  • @332ARA

      Probably ran out of flip value money. They bought the car… did the body work, paint, interior, dash, and motor and came very close to $40,000. The market for a 60s completed hot rod is between 35,000 and 55,000. After they put in an appropriate rear end, they’ll be at the point where they aren’t making money for their labor and other expenses.
      That or they bought it (as is) for over 35,000 not knowing it needed a rear end until they lifted it up.
      My brother used to flip rods back in the late 80s / early 90s… sometimes they end up being money pits in the end.

    2 door SEDAN (windows are framed) this was the ECONO- model company car. WASTE of a good LS motor IMO. 15K was generous. No Chevy guy would pay 40k for this.

    People overbuilding their cars. That rear end would handle that HP and trq with no issues. Burnouts don't hurt rear ends cause there is no power transfer. That rear is lighter and strong enough to make for a quick, streetable ride. Not every car needs a full floating, trussed 9 inch.

    Sorry but the seller seemed pretty clueless , Pro Street muscle car he calls it with a stock rear end. The other dude called it a Grandma's car , it could be, but Hot Rod has the 66 Chevy II SS as one of the top 10 all time sleeper cars , 2800 lbs with 365HP 327 4 speed , they were fast with that drive train. Ricks on it though , that rear end / rear suspension is lacking , todays market 30-35K ,forgot , it's also a post not a sedan so that makes it less desirable as well. Lots of nice expensive work already done ,body & paint , nicely done interior , whole front subframe & suspension , those were junk on these , the LS conversion & trans isn't cheap 15K+ , too bad it's not an LS7 . Low 20's tops for pawn price.

      @richardgrace5043 8 лет назад +1

      yeah but just because the motor is worth 8 doesn't make the car worth more...... lots of times the more you change a classic car the lower the value goes because most classic car collectors want a completely original car

      That engine came out 20 years ago. Corvette's only used that motor from 1997-2004. It's the most popular engine swap in the world, great engine but not rare or pricey.

    That was a 2 door post car. It will never get big money cuz they didnt build a sedan. in a sedan you can roll the front and back windows down and there wont be a pillar there looking like its holding up the roof. Definitely a grandma version of the the body. The rood is too tall and looks funny.

    All these people talking about the rear end have no clue what it would take to put a car together like this. Although you'll never get what you put into them this car has a lot of money in it. To the right person looking for this car $40 wouldn't be that far of a reach.

    First off I hate LS swaps too predictable and overused I would've kept it all original or at least close to it second with that big of an engine there's no way that rear end would hold up third I'm sure 40k is way too much it's more along the lines of high 20s low 30s and as much as I like Rick he needed to call the count lol

    Really...come on, 40k for a car?! That’s too much! I think he might be looking for a return on spending the money on that LS1 motor..which is definitely not meant for a tiny car like this one.
