Man, you don't know how you've saved my sanity with this...I have been looking for some way to keep my horribly weedy bricked side yard tamped down for years. I do this once a week now with my electric Worx whacker (at least, the whacker part) and it takes me 10 minutes-vs. the painful hours it used to with a weed knife. Million thanks, Greg!
I didn't find it weird that he was barefoot when mowing, but when spraying the weed killer? The feet and the palms absorb better than any other part of the skin :S yummy
I wouldn't allow this geezer anywhere near gardening equipment, he's a liability to himself. As for spraying weed killer and I would hazard a guess it Glyphosate base killer is being used, without a mask and in bare feet!. This has earned him The Darwin Award for survival of the stupid.. DO not use a strimmer (weed whacker US & Aus) or spray chemicals without safety equipment. Glyphosate can build up in the body and is Genotoxic ie: can Damage DNA, this product is carcinogenic..., Use With CARE!
I'm also a fan of horticultural vinegar. To be most effective, can only be applied on hot, sunny days, and difficult to procure in my vicinity, but much preferred to RoundUp.
Thanks for the excellent tip! I am going to try it on my weeds but they are low to the ground crawling kinds it might be a bit harder as they are not straight up in the air like yours are.
The shock when I heard Grego’s voice after clicking on this vid!!! I forget grego has gardening channels, I know him from his food vids! This was a nice surprise
That "Add Water Vinegar Salt" thing or "Add Diesel" pffffffff…………...THEY DONT WORK! Be like my man right here, Let the Tools do the Work. Thank you for posting this video. I just bought a machine like that, did my backyard, I think I did fine. Battery died within 30 mins though. But I was afraid t try it on the pavers. But seeing you erasing those ugly looking weeds that blacken the pavers...… you have encouraged me. Thank you!
you like to feel the earth barefoot, and then you walk through the weedspray barefoot, shorts, no sleeves and inhaling any possible mists...great role model Greg...
Ja, Greg...wear shoes with the BLADE!!! Thx for your videos. I'm always looking for 'safe' weed killers so we like to use vinegar. I'll ck your other vids to see what you use for massive weed piles :)
I have bunches of weeds and thick grass bunches that are too difficult to pull out of my gravel garden and it looks an awful mess now as i've left it for two years now!! Will buying a powerful strimmer and just raking the old weeds away and then spraying the roots solve my dilemma?
If this man every lost his temper, was on meth and got ahold of a machette, it would be the end of the world. He's probably the nicest guy but tell me he doesn't have a scary psycho blimey twist to him, lol. It's all good mate, keep up the good work! : )
Hey Greg, this is also what I do. However i often give it som poison 7-10 days after, it is dry and doesnøt make so much "green juice " on the tiles. Greetings Andreas
C'mon.. How many of us hasn't done this is sandals or bare foot once or twice knowing better and gotten away with it. Greg usually has shoes, socks and some strange leg booties I haven't seen here in the states.
Steve Wright you are joking right lol? Its the root that matters you can pick leaves all day and it will come back.. gotta kill the root to elimate the entire weed.
I forget, but I think there is some sort of material that can be put underneath brick to stop weeds. Of course that only works before the bricks are laid.
+Pauline Briggs Grab a forstner bit (for large holes) and drill into the trunk a couple of spots then pour in undiluted weed killer such as roundup. Killed my large trees in 3 weeks. It will soak into the cambium layer and be absorbed throughout the branches as the tree draws water up. Guaranteed.
+oo0Spyder0oo people are truly lost and hopeless, lawn chemicals are leisure products. people will pay to work out at the gym and then go buy glyphosate so they don't have to work to be stewards of the land. 2,4-D is miscible in water, check your nearest puddle. and btw this guy actually string trimming with bare feet is one thing but spraying for weeds and then walking right over the poison with bare feet. I am amazed..
+Pauline Briggs my brain hurt just reading these comments. do you want a 40 ft dead tree intsead of the 40 ft live one? is that better? do you want it to be as ugly as can be until it falls on something you care about? or for the price of a bottle of round-up you could rent a chainsaw and grow a pair and cut your self or neighbors some firewood, even send it down the way for the cost of the saw rental. Cognitive dissonance leads to re-occurring problems, lets not go down that path as a population as if we cant think for ourselves.
Wow! So many expert opinions given here for Greg! Some of you must live in bubbles and wear protective suits with breathing apparatus whenever you step outside lest you breathe in the air around you.
I agree it's dangerous practice to not wear shoes and use toxic weed sprays. There has to be a better method. Also, there are machines that suck (like a vacuum cleaner) garden refuse which can either be disposed of or used in a composting system. Just sweep up the large stuff and finish off with the 'sucker'.

Actually Joe, you appear to be both.

Hard on the toes.
I'm doing this today! I've been pulling weeds from the driveway for years, thanks
NICE! Sometimes the easiest solutions lay unnoticed until someone points you in the right direction...
Thanks, Man!
thank you :)
***** You've gone the easy way out. The weed killers are that effective, but vinegar has worked well for me.
I'm also a fan of horticultural vinegar. To be most effective, can only be applied on hot, sunny days, and difficult to procure in my vicinity, but much preferred to RoundUp.
depends what you want to use it for, mine is a great one, a Shindaiwa, they are a bit expensive but go forever.
He's a genius! Will someone give this bear footed Aussie noble prize already! Hehe Vote & Sub!
+djexclusivee ha ha :)
Lol my man this was sheer comedy. You showed the “lazy boy” way to handle weeds and I love it lol thumbs up partner!!! This shit was awesome!
1:05 "just... tag a bit of that plant of there..."
hahaha
Thanks for the excellent tip! I am going to try it on my weeds but they are low to the ground crawling kinds it might be a bit harder as they are not straight up in the air like yours are.
Wait..did you just say....."Just stick it in gently....she should be alright"?!?!....LMAO! You are so funny ;)
Love all your videos and you.....love your garden and your simplicity....keep on sharing your good will with us.
thanks :)
"there's no way im doing that" ! another great clip.. love it
@GodlessManitoban it doesn't matter whats under them, the dirt between the pavers will always attract weeds
The shock when I heard Grego’s voice after clicking on this vid!!! I forget grego has gardening channels, I know him from his food vids! This was a nice surprise

I have bunches of weeds and thick grass bunches that are too difficult to pull out of my gravel garden and it looks an awful mess now as i've left it for two years now!! Will buying a powerful strimmer and just raking the old weeds away and then spraying the roots solve my dilemma?
i usually strim the area then spray it strait away, or spray it and wait a week then strim it
***** Cheers Greg, I may post a video of before and after results including my method.. cheers, Tom
Omg I am buying one right now thank you!! It looks beautiful!
Sounds like a bloody great way to scratch up your paving stones, mate.

"Just stick it in gently"
I need some of those invisible safety boots.
Bare feet! Wow, you must have free healthcare LOL

If this man every lost his temper, was on meth and got ahold of a machette, it would be the end of the world. He's probably the nicest guy but tell me he doesn't have a scary psycho blimey twist to him, lol. It's all good mate, keep up the good work! : )

Love your steel toed boots there Greg!!...lol I've used boiling water followed by table salt on smaller projects..works like a charm.
Hi will this get the moss out between bricks aswell? also what size line are you using, thanks
AMAZING!!! Indeed, a quick blow to finish it off is imperative I'd say, otherwise it can get too messy.
Story of my life!
Hey Greg, this is also what I do.
However i often give it som poison 7-10 days after, it is dry and doesnøt make so much "green juice " on the tiles. Greetings Andreas
so this only works if you are bare foot?
C'mon.. How many of us hasn't done this is sandals or bare foot once or twice knowing better and gotten away with it. Greg usually has shoes, socks and some strange leg booties I haven't seen here in the states.
nice line trimmer how much did it cost
I am in the UK and have a shindaiwas, very good machine, I would recommend husqvarna or stihl for the UK
I did this yesterday and the line keeps breaking off that it's so frustrating. How can I do it so that the line won't snap off at every weed?
Great ideal with the weed wacker. I'll have to try that and let you know how it works.
@TheProductiveGarden they are really comfortable
Try not to use soo many chemicals..... soon or later there won't be any water for drinking....
But nice trick with the trimmer... :D
I thought that weed killer only worked if the leaves were still present, otherwise they'll be back up in a few days........
Steve Wright you are joking right lol? Its the root that matters you can pick leaves all day and it will come back.. gotta kill the root to elimate the entire weed.
From where we can get this??
Would love to know what guests he is expecting over :)
G'day g'day mate, ripper of a job sport.

Now i need to buy this machine
@01silky1 i forgot my boots ;p
I forget, but I think there is some sort of material that can be put underneath brick to stop weeds.
Of course that only works before the bricks are laid.
I would like to try this on my pavers but I lack the proper footwear indicated in the video.
How do u kill a 40foot tree with out the expense off hiring a tree surgeon? iv been told to drill a brass screw in to the trunk, is this true?
+Pauline Briggs Grab a forstner bit (for large holes) and drill into the trunk a couple of spots then pour in undiluted weed killer such as roundup. Killed my large trees in 3 weeks. It will soak into the cambium layer and be absorbed throughout the branches as the tree draws water up. Guaranteed.

@motherofthedrummer salt sounds like a good idea
@slanelcla l grew up not wearing shoes, l even go shopping bare footed... lt's a Queensland thing ;p
Hi Greg the gardener,, what happened to Greg the cook?
Would not advise walking on weed killers with bare skin. Finds its way into your bloodstream
I've done that too but would definitely wear shoes but I'm accident prone.
Go in gentle with a quick blow at the end, now that's gardening! Burkes backyard has got nothing to the bare footed Greg
so how do you kill onion weed for good? :)
Spider man you aliens mock so much lol
