This song is pretty cute, the girls improved *a lot* in their pronunciation since Halation Summer. Boy, I really think this lineup had so much potential, Mika, Ayaka, Danielle and Lehua are awesome! The video is pretty nice (love that cool jump they do at the end!) but I wonder why did they added those women dancing hula? They look really weird, same with that random dog who looks like it came out of a nightmare. Some of the expressions the girls are making are a little scary too... Except Ayaka's, she was normal and cute for the whole video. Lehua's hairstyle doesn't suite her either, pulling her hair like that wasn't the best thing to do. I think they got better as time passed, they should have sold a little more than they did... I still think these four girls are really nice and deserve more recognition.
PeachOriginal Yes!!! and also, i think they weren't suited for the cutesy vibe. Danielle seems a bit forced here, like, she's having fun but they wanted her to do more and it's a bit overkill. Meanwhile she was AMAZING in Akai Nikkichou. And Jounetsu Yuki Miraisen is AMAZING, which was ofc after danielle left. They also were really good live which is saying a lot
I really feel for Danielle and Lehua, They were brought to Japan promised to be pop-stars. They were never taught the language and had to struggle with lonelyness. And they had to take all of this criticism from you. They tried their best. And you have to admit that Danielle has one of the strongest voices out of all of the Musume's. Watch akagumi 4 for the proof.
I love those jumps that they do at 2:15 (especially Ayaka's)!!! The way they jump, and then freeze on the video . . . it makes them look like cartoon, idol superheroes! I don't think that Coconuts Musume gets the credit they deserve. I think they are excellent!
Danielle could speak Japanese, just not as well as Mika. She spoke it as well as an average person would after living in japan for a few years. Lehua had more trouble with it and didn't speak too much Japanese but could understand it somewhat.
Lehua is doing weird things with her eyes, but she's still really pretty!! lol :) They were actually really good! :) I think they should have another similar group in H!P
Of course there are! LOL There's many that are probably not known to non-Hispanics whether it is in music, acting, etc, but there are some that are known within America as well, one being the actress, Zoe Saldana, who is half Dominican, half Puerto Rican, but lived in the Dominican Republic for quite some time. There's also Michelle Rodriguez, who is also half and is an actress.
Mika looks strange in this video, probably because of the bright light and the way her hair was made. Also maybe her make-up. Also Lehua looks strange as well. But it's a nice upbeat, feel-good song.
They never bothered teaching Danielle and Lehua Japanese from what anyone knows. They were never able to speak with anyone in Japanese even after 2 years in Japan. So they left and the group more or less died.
From what I recall, Danielle said part of the reason she left was she was about to finish high-school and made the choice to go into college, and for both Danielle and the younger girls, if I recall, they were only flown into Japan for short stints to record songs and videos, and a few concerts. Once those were completed, they would send them back to Hawaii until Hello! Project wanted to do more work with Coconuts Musume. Ayaka was a bit older and able to commit full time (she was 17 when they started and most likely a high-school senior at the time they began) plus was almost fully bilingual with near-native fluency in both languages, so I think she got used for more things in H!P, in particular Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons and several H!P radio shows. Mika was a bit younger, but due to having some fluency in Japanese (likely with some help from Ayaka), she got rotated into Mini-Moni for almost all of that sub-group's entire existence, plus did a couple of radio shows herself. Eventually Ayaka and Mika both left H!P to pursue other projects. Ayaka remained almost exlusively in Japan, whereas Mika returned to the USA, only occassionally returning to Japan to perform. As for Danielle, a more recent revelation of why she left H!P was the body image issues she was starting to develop as a result of being in a J-Pop idol space. The clothes she was given were always too tight, people regularly told her she needed to lose weight, and even in official H!P videos and Coconuts Musume interviews, there was a creepy fascination with her chest. That said, she went on to enjoy a very good career in Vocal Coaching and Musical Theater, eventually finishing college with degrees in just that. :) She's also been a Music Teacher at a college, started a short-lived music group in the UK, and even done some acting!
Thanks for responding. I am familiar with both of them . . . Zoe Saldana and Michelle Rodriguez. I have some Facebook friends from Dominican Republic, which is why I asked.
Haha, no you didn't annoy me lol I just thought you were trying to be mean. I don't really know I could be wrong I thought it was "Arui" but I'm not sure, sorry :\
I agree and of course it doesn't make Americans fat..I'm Dominican-American and I'm 5 foot 2 inches, 100 lbs, and a size 2..If that's fat to some people, then I'm afraid to know what skinny is to them!
I never really like this group. The only people I can stand is Aya,Mika, and Danelle because they're japanese is up to par. But Lehua sounds so forced it really annoys me for some reason.
Ew, Coconuts Musume was terrible, the only good member was Ayaka. And Mika a little bit, but she was still better in Minimoni. Danielle was a disgrace to H!P. KIMOCHI ARUI. Too bad Ayaka graduated now though.
どこか懐かしいのに、異国情緒ある感じでほんとに好き この時期に知って応援したかった、、泣

one of Lehua’s braids is thicker than the other 🙁
I personally like the hula women. Keeps in tone with the Hawaiian theme
I see lehua every time i go out we grew up together and are still living in our home town of Haleiwa :)
It's so awesome seeing Mika in this, because in Minimoni she always seemed like she didn't quite fit in but here she so does!

さすがハロプロ初の国際的ユニットだ。コメ欄全部英語(笑)
My favourite Coconuts Musume song.
I love Lehua's braids. So cute!

なんでダニエルは日本語話せないのにこんな歌だと上手いんだろ?
I love the instrumental break at 2:39.
DANIELLE DELAUNAY NEW MUSIC VIDEO
Mother Dear
Lehua is doing weird things with her eyes, but she's still really pretty!! lol :)
They were actually really good! :)
I think they should have another similar group in H!P
Please don't blame them for the expressions . . . the director of the PV told them to do that.
I love Mika & Ayaka ♥
Of course there are! LOL

I think since this PV their style got better, they started to be a cuter group.
Ayaka is extremely beautiful
Flowers + Flowers = Pineapple?
Sounds like Tsunku was listening to some Jackson 5 before he wrote this song.
So weird seeing Lehua before and Lehua now though o.o!
アヤカちゃん可愛い。
I love Coconuts Musume :D Lehua & Mika were my favs :D
I love this song~
In all honesty I loved coconuts musume with my soul haha Danielle and mika were my favorite

flowers plus more flowers equals.. PINEAPPLE

cute
I miss coconouts musume ):
like how ai takahashi had to learn standard japanese
Learn Japanese before judging someone else's Japanese. >_>
I thought this was a Hawaiin Pop band marketed towards the Japanese and ran by a Japanese company.
lol ditto! XD
Haha, no you didn't annoy me lol I just thought you were trying to be mean. I don't really know I could be wrong I thought it was "Arui" but I'm not sure, sorry :\
