Good to see all these devolopment on this alignment of road. Been on this stretch way back in 1976. After watching this, bitten to re-live my early twenties on these roads, kargil to Leh road, kargil to Batalik, kargil to short of Padam by transport and crossing Zanskar river on a rope bridge, trekking to Zaskar village, Wanlah village to Nimmu. Must have changed a lot now. Cameras were luxury items, only memory remains. Crossing Indus near Batalik on a rope bridge with the river in full spate, on way to Darbuk/ Hanuthang was quite taxing. I don't know if I am getting the names correct, but trekking on this route, reaching Khaltse Or Khalsi was out of the world experience. Now In my seventies, do not thing I can relive the moments on foot, seeing the roads, will surely plan a road trip. The place does not appear remote at all.
It's great to hear about your wonderful experience. You should surely plan trip to ladakh in summers. Now the roads are in good condition and it's lovely place to visit.
I am not sure, we do not keep LPG cylinder with us. But as per google there is specific day(Wednesday), when they allow patrol and LPG vehicles to cross Attal tunnel.
Yes, it's safe to travel. We are alao in Manali currently. There was a patch between kullu and mandi that's also open now. Have a safe and beautiful journey!
