Caltrop core is such an amusing name for a d4 centric rpg, lmao

This is a great idea, the very reason I'm loving the indie ttrpg community these days. Fresh ideas, people using their brains and creativity, dice rolling, games being made and played. Along with PBTA, Fate, and Polymorph, this is a unique addition to the core lite rules for any kind of game you want to design. Definitely checking this out.

This interesting d4 system is a nice way to simplify the process of making a game system such that someone who likes the idea of making a game "just how they want it, but weren't sure how to go about even starting that" could use to get a feel for the process [by building from blocks to more complexity levels later].
(warning: incoming draft/braindump) it got me thinking ...
about adding an additional layer of realism/complexity with some skills/stats that as they increased in power, then you get to roll a dice with more sides; this would give more skill people the potential for more dice results to be some form of success.
The natural extention of this would be to jump from d4 to d8, to d12, maybe d20 even, but there would potentially need to be a table/graph/chart that showed at what skill/stat level you got to increase the number of sides-to-your-die for rolling, AND just how the extra sides would play out when landed upon.
In my mind, a d6 or d8, for example, would increase the d4's success chances by at least 2 more sides, and maybe also add something like a "you both succeed somewhat", instead of "no result" (still keep the no result, but add another number that, if landed upon, meant that, in combat for example, the two participants each did something similar to each other).

GWL eh... it doesn't quite have the same quirky [nostalgic] joy of "*jingle* with Lex Mandrake... in the top right corner." But being that it has capital letters that stand for other words... all official & cool-like, i'll still give it a Big Thumbs-up, b/c the all-important-music/jingle is still intact. :D
