  • When it comes to photographing stunning cityscapes, there is a simple formula that you can use, to get the best results you can get. Go out on a cloudy day, use a long exposure and shoot at sunset and/or blue hour. If these three conditions are met, your chances of getting a stunning image of your city skyrocket. Of course, it helps to live in a beautiful city with a beautiful skyline. Fortunately for me, Vancouver ticks the beautiful skyline checkbox so I don't have to work particularly hard to get a stunner. Usually, cityscapes are easy to photograph but you do have to find a pleasing framing and composition for your image to work. After you shot the photo, go home and edit the photo because shooting the photo is half the work if you want to get a banger shot of your city. Play with the white balance, contrast, saturation, shadows, highlights and the sharpening sliders to find the best look.
Also what you can do to up your city photography game, is to experiment with panoramas. They work especially well for cityscapes and 'till this day my best panoramas are cityscapes panoramas.
