baseball has outs while cricket has runs. If you think this way it makes sense. So everything is reversed(kina). homeruns in baseball are celebrated while sixes in cricket are not. outs are celebrated in cricket while they are not in baseball. a baseball batter gets multiple chances while cricket batter gets only one chance. Just like how batters switch after every out/RBI, instead in cricket bowlers switch(batters just switch sides but you can ignore this as its hard to explain)
As bad as it can get. 140 is a pretty high score. To put it in context - the entire Indian team (11 batsmen, 10 wickets) made just 260 runs after that. And head alone, from the aussie side, made 140.
Love these in-depth cricket breakdowns, way harder to watch in the US than any of our main sports, there's so much personality since the batsmen and bowlers go against each other for so long. Hope at some point cricket gets some kind of mainstream US league, the storylines out of it would be incredible.
The USA Cricket Association operates from headquarters in Florida and conducts Leagues under Minor League Cricket. The sport was popular in New England regions during English occupancy. Australian Shane Warne (RIP) and India's iconic Sachin Tendulkar took visiting players for a Series just on ten years ago. Played in venues such as Yankee Stadium in an attempt to round up support.
You've already got a US competition. Some of the players seen in this video play for teams in the US. Althought it is not Test cricket (as seen in the video). It's T20.

Before cricket was made professional many cricketers played baseball in their offseason. Totally different now with how many tournaments they fit in a calendar year.
@uoauibdhv Once cricket became a year round international committment all that came to an end. No State representative cricketer played in the ABL (started in 1989). Prior to that Australia could have fielded a national level baseball team from Test cricketers. The doubling up of seasons goes right back to the likes of Victor Trumper and his schoolmate Monty (M.A.) Noble, both excellent baseball players.
The biggest difference is that if you spoke to an umpire in cricket the way some players/coaches speak to umps in Baseball you wouldn't just get ejected you'd be lucky to play ever again (or at least get a lengthy ban)
The Mike Gatting/Rana incident would likely not even seen the coach ejected if it were in a baseball game. but in cricket it ended up causing a huge diplomatic row, the tour almost got cancelled because Pakistan refused to name a different umpire and later Gatting was sacked as Captain because of it. Rana was a biased cheat, and thankfully the days of non-neutral umpires are long gone. The Brits weren't exactly saints either, in 1955 the English players kidnapped (a different Pakistan umpire) from his hotel, strapped him down, threw him in a chair and poured buckets of water on him. I'm not sure they ever really got over losing the British Raj.
I don't think cricket umpires have authority to throw players out like in baseball. Maybe they can stop them from bowling but not keep them out of the match. Big fines and suspensions is expected however.
Lol it's a baby beer snake if one person can carry it. Funny how the beer snake guy apologised and Marnus posted something to istagram like "lol all good mate".
It is fair to say that the scrambled-seam and wobble-seam balls appear to be more common these days, but they aren't new. Just that the bowlers of today in particular need more tricks up their sleeve than just moving the ball laterally in the air.
The variation in deliveries...knuckle ball, fork ball, circle change amongst them, came from pitching variations. Became more evident with T20 variant. Fairly sure that Australian fielding coach and former Australian head baseball coach woud have brought some of it given his involvement. Regional cricket academies also had "guest' appearances from accredited baseball coaches.

love the cricket breakdowns. For as much as Siraj has been made a bit of a villain for this, i think the game needs the personalities and as long as it never goes overboard i dont really see issues with it
On the Labuschagne bit at the start. You can be out if you "Hit The Ball Twice", as it is not allowed to hit the ball again (because back in the day people would get their brains scrambled by a batter trying to have a second go to score, or trying to stop a catch), except it is allowed to hit it again for the "sole purpose of protecting your wicket" (you also can't go for runs after a legal second hit) and there's enough doubt here because it was rolling backward when he went to hit it, and there was no run-out going to occur. Even if it might have been out India probably wouldn't go through with the appeal due to the 'spirit of cricket'. Hit The ball Twice is extremely rare, only happened a few times in all of high level cricket.
Last Time Siraj Toured Australia he hadn't debuted yet in Test Cricket. His father died before the start of the series. Because of Covid restrictions players had to go under 30 day quarantine before they were allowed to play. If he had gone back he would've missed the whole series. He made up his mind and stayed behind because it was his father's dream for him to be a cricketer. He couldn't attend his father's funeral. For that sacrifice he's now one the best Bowlers in the world.
As a life long cricket fan the Head and Siraj back and forth was absolutely beautiful to watch. For days all the commentators were very critical of them both being non gentlemanly, I believe siraj got fined for the Head send off but I thought it was great for the rivalry and the fans. We want to see some passion and none of what siraj did was out of line imo. Watch Marcus labuschagne (Australian batter) and he gets up and about in peoples faces allll the time and no one complains about him. Nice work Jimmy
Yes, the very first scene where Marnus tapped the ball to stop Siraj from kicking it was technically out because of "obstructing the field". If India had of pushed, the point the umpire would have had no choice but to give him out. It shows the game is being played in good spirit regardless of the shenanigans between the two.
Not really. The field was never obstructed in any material way. They were not prevented from either getting a batter out or stopping runs from being scored.
I love when people use words like "technically." It means they must have a deeper understanding of the rules. He asked the umpire and the umpire ignored him. And appeal doesn't have to be "pushed," it just has to be asked. Given that three professional ICC umpires (2 field and 1 off-field) didn't deem it worthy of discussion, please tell us, how was that "technically" obstructing the field?
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 Absolutely! Siraj was attempting to kick the ball into the stumps, whether it was to earnestly run him out or not. He prevented him from doing so by illegally, since the ball was not dead, hitting the ball away. So, if not obstructing the field, hitting the ball twice. Unless there is a rule that explicitly allows what he did, which we all know there isn't one, he is out.
@@dampaul13 I've been in this game for 50 years and played more cricket than you've watched. See my answer to the other guy. The ball was not dead and he prevented Siraj from an attempted run out. So it's either obstructing the field or hit the ball twice. Take your pick. There have been many instances where the ball has hit the runner that would have hit the stumps during a run out that has been given out as obstructing the field-even accidental interference. It was not given out in this case in the interest of sportsmanship. Even the presenter, a non-cricketer's intuition said "Seems like that shouldn't be allowed". And guess what? It isn't. But, I want to give you a chance to support your argument, and help me address any holes in my knowledge of the game, so please show me a rule that explicitly allows a batter to hit the ball away from a fielder while the fielder is attempting a run out....
Siraj hardly matches up his aggression with performance. 90 odd wickets in 35 tests tells everything about how mediocre he has been in his test career. His T20i stats are better not to be bothered about. Hope we get to see Akashdeep as the second pacer aiding Bumrah and Mukesh or Prasidh as the third pacer.
Eh. You also gotta remember he playes in the Indian dust bowls. It's kinda like kl rahul. Siraj on his days looks unplayable but is very very inconsistent.
Good time to get into it. This particular series is the #1 and #2 teams in the world, 3 games in at 1-1. The next match starts on Boxing Day in a 100,000+ capacity stadium with the first day of the match already sold out. Worth having a look for the curious.

Fair go...he cannot be blamed alone. Second Test was partially under lights where India has not won because they tried to outlaw it from the outset. Third Test was completely disrupted by weather. There's far too many keyboard selectors for India which takes a toll on their team members..
@flamingfrancis Well, the results speak for themselves. The first win was comprehensive. India have played completely unlike the first test after that. It is just a coincidence that Rohit has been the captain since then?
'Towel flew out of his ass' lol great line. Also Heady single handedly mollywhopped the entire Indian side in the crease that test. Normally at that level of international Cricket the other side shows respect for a knock that good but at least it spiced up the series more.
Talking shit and sending a bloke off who just blasted your team for 140 is downright embarrassing and pathetic. Anyone who has ever played cricket would tell you the same.
Playing cricket in general is embarrassing and pathetic. It makes baseball, America's least athletic sport, look like football. But hey, at least Rugby is alright.
It's the Aussies who said there's no intensity or competitiveness in this series, they were saying it to encourage Aussie players to bring the aggressiveness out of their player's like the old times but it was Siraj who did the Aussie style and naturally when others abuse Aussies they won't like it n complaints, but if they were doing it , it would've been dismissed as silly banter. Siraj give what Aussie public wanted but just coz it's from the opposite team they didn't like it n started crying. Aussies n English are all the same, too much hypocrisy n if gets caught starts crying like Smith n Warner did during the Sandpaper era.
3:52 Jimmy is not wrong but a better comparison is a pitcher with 2 strikes and 2 outs starting to walk off the mound when he thinks he earned a called strike 3. I'm thinking of the breakdown from this year of Paul Skenes doing this and an umpire yelling at him for it.

Jomboy does a great job analysis by the interpersonal dynamic between the players. It’s super important to the outcome of the series. A player gets in someone’s head and it can be all over. This is the best analysis I’ve seen about why the Australian crowds have turned on Siraj. Also his analysis of the wobble ball is interesting. Just so people know, the wobble ball is actually spinning backwards. You impart backspin with the seam angled and it creates the wobbling seam which then creates random sideways movements towards or away from the stumps which makes it impossible to predict. A good batsman can pick traditional off or leg cutters out of the bowlers had because the bowler needs to impart side spin. A wobble balls seam movement is random which is what makes it so difficult to play.
@Observer9812 the only thing is siraj is known to do this pathetic behaviour before even at Laubuschagne throwing the ball at him. Siraj was the one who was staring at Head like a maniac like he's some good bowler like bro you average almost 30 in a bowler friendly era when even average bowlers average mid 20s. He should work on his bowling instead of his petty stunts
Siraj has that talent but its like dude is using half of his energy to concentrate after his each ball which takes away the time to analyze what you did right or wrong on that delivery, he could learn and implement a lot by looking back at his seniors like Rahul Dravid or Anil Kumble who ever always clam and strategizing what they where gona do next even when they where dominating the opponents
That was awesome man but dude you missed the dropped catch! siraj dropped head when he was on like 70 or something if I remember correctly and he goes on to make triple figures. Siraj drop was epic fail I mean it was a tough chance but he looked as graceful as a hippo landing a hangglider

No he's not.
@lasmithasamaraweera8825 I understand your Sri Lankan pain 😂
He's not even the best indian bowler dude
@@Birb728 Starc and Cummins having their best series right. Siraj having his worst series has picked the same number of wickets as them.
I love when people use words like "technically."
It means they must have a deeper understanding of the rules.
@@robertferraro236 There was absolutely no chance of a run out and the ball was kicked not hit so no.
Who wants jomboy to join Fox 🐺 cricket
I'll take him over warner any day.
I'll take anyone over warner though.
4:43 - "Mustache, teeth and tongue, all up in your face" had me rolling on the floor laughing.. Hilarious!! Great job, man.
I was hoping Shami would make a comeback but looks unlikely given his injury
😂😂ur hater first then pro Muslim hater 😊😊😊😊😊meet u in swarglokkk too much soon
Vs SL 6-7 remember
how many games has he played and bowled under 10 overs an innings tho. quality bowler
I think I’m into Cricket now. Wireless, but Cricket nonetheless.
Good time to get into it. This particular series is the #1 and #2 teams in the world, 3 games in at 1-1. The next match starts on Boxing Day in a 100,000+ capacity stadium with the first day of the match already sold out. Worth having a look for the curious.
@@Spudzilla5656 Wireless
@@Spudzilla5656 just fyi, in the united states, cricket wireless is a network service provider. the commenter you're replying to is saying that they're into the service plan, not the actual sport lol
Honestly, rohit sharma is such a bad luck. We won so comfortably in the first match when bumrah was the captain.
Since, Rohit has come in team, we have played so bad.
Jomboy ever played cricket? He should give it a go if not. It's scarier than you think with that ball
It was pretty satisfying listening to the whole crowd getting into Siraj during his first over at the Gabba
He's actually a character, a genuinely innocent guy but yes just straight caricature on field😂 but as an Indian, really proud of him 😃
Tru
Geck of a bowler and a genuine sweetheart who just puts up a pantomime act.
@@miloblackmetalhate 😂
Siraj is a little confused but he's got the spirit.
I’m gonna need the Melbourne Boxing Day and Sydney New Year tests covered Jomboy my boy
Talking shit and sending a bloke off who just blasted your team for 140 is downright embarrassing and pathetic. Anyone who has ever played cricket would tell you the same.
haha whatever dude, it's ok, Head embarasses us each time we play 'em, so might as well have some catharsis with it 🥲
Playing cricket in general is embarrassing and pathetic.
Chalna bhai aage
It wasn't a send-off. It was an impulse reaction to Head saying something to him.
I don't approve of it, neither of his tactics against Marnus.
Bro you are an American, commentating on cricket, this face just blew my mind.
Love from 🇮🇳
Loved that content. And wow! To RUclips recommendations for recommending this video!
I love that you do these breakdowns on Cricket love the close ups 😂
Can't wait for boxing Day test match
Love the cricket vids man, good shit
Ever since you started doing more different sports than baseball, reviewing cricket as if you do watch it (And you do I bet) is just that more entertaining as the test match itself, thanks for the insight and great video.
For the Travis Head bits, you missed that Siraj dropped Head on about 70ish
always love the cricket breakdowns jomboy, thanks!
As an English man I can say you are the world champion of cricket commentary
i love cricket, so the long videos are great. and it's obvious reading the comments on any of your videos that people love how you explain things, humanize the players, pick out details no one else would, etc. so please don't stop. think of the children.
Hey Jomboy, be good for you to do a breakdown of the bail trick from the last ashes series in England. Can tell you it definitely works!
Bowling with a scrambled seam is not something new, it's like Bowling an offcutter and depending on where and how the ball lands it could come back in or not.
I meant its popularity has skyrocketed. It’s used at a much higher percentage lately
@@JomboyMedia yeah previously wobble ball ballers were few and far between. Pollock and Flintoff are 2 who definitely bowled it. But nowadays 80% fast bowlers ball with a wobble seam
Plz kidnapped head 🙆😭😭 for remaining tests
Please breakdown the Melbourne test match it was an absolute classic!
You forgot to show the MASSIVE deafening boo's from the crowd everytime Siraj got the ball or was shown on camera
Unfortunately for the beer snake man he got kicked out shortly after that 😂
Glad we got some Richard Kettleborough in the breakdown! I’ve been very impressed with cricket umpires who just make the calls or go to review without showing up the players or making themselves the centre of attention by controlling the game
Siraj will either be humbled by the game or he won't. But man, he's selling himself a bit of a wanker currently. But, hey! It's worked for others in the past.
That's what I thought. He can't be getting too many new fans with this behaviour, at least not outside India.
@@CF0RDYeah, but they are Legion
@@CF0RD Even some Indians are not happy with his behavior
@@NefariousPear I'm not sure what this means. But they are not legends?

Much love from Australia Jomboy. We’re set up for a cracking end to the series. Not sure if you’ve listened to them before, but The Grade Cricketer podcast would be right up your alley your alley. I reckon they’d have you on if you got in touch!
Oh lovely, nice one for trying to get into the game brov .bowler got a tiny, tiny win by denying batter 150 runs,he had 140 .
Bro, I know it’s old but would like your take on Shane Warne’s magic ball, ‘ball of the century’
The wobble seam is about unpredictability
Siraj needs to dial down the manic idiocy a touch. He's a solid bowler with nearly 300 tests under his belt, but he's too easily riled.
300 Tests? Don't think so...
Bro what?
Agree. Somebody needs to tell him.
Jim, you gotta do Kohli and Konstas
Give it up for the beer snake guy, he deserves his own corridor across the scoreboard!
Good breakdown as always. Like the bit at the end about the natural variation you get by scrambling the seam.
Did jomboy cover the Kholi shoulder?
Siraj has consistently been a terrible bowler, all he's ever done is consistently give up 4s and 6s.
Not really he has bowled well, it’s just that Bumrah makes everyone look bad.
Nah man . Indian pitches are not suited for pace bowling. Also bumrah exists
DSP SIRAJ ON DUTY ❤❤❤
Just loved the wobble thing at the end ❤
As always Jomboy with another banger. Your cricket knowledge is impressive. Love your content 👍🏽
Love Jom thanking me for watching like I wouldn’t be still here, I ain’t got shii to do
Giving a send off to a guy who just smashed 140 and smashed you all over the place is stupid
Scoring 140 and still abusing Siraj while leaving is pure 3rd class behaviour.
Siraj is a firebrand. Never one to back down. Always willing to bowl and dig in deep.
Marnus and Travis live rent-free in Siraj's head.
Love that you are doing cricket. Lots of potential. If India start clicking on your content... $$$$$$
Indeed. This channel could blow up massively.
The stabilized video at the end was awesome!
That was awesome man but dude you missed the dropped catch! siraj dropped head when he was on like 70 or something if I remember correctly and he goes on to make triple figures. Siraj drop was epic fail I mean it was a tough chance but he looked as graceful as a hippo landing a hangglider
