Could be a bad power supply or transformer. I have an old machine that I am working on that has a bad transformer. It overloads when turned on, and caused the hopper, bell and reels to spin continuously. If left on it will blow some capacitors.
@@PhillipsVision it was working fine. Then started paying continuously... The last reel wouldn't stop spinning.. Once turned off then on the humming started... Now no wheels will spin when lever is pulled but can spin them manually... Is this a common issue? Also thank you for your quick response
@@lennondanielowski7564 I would also recommend turning the machine off, disconnect all harnesses and clean the connections with electronic cleaner. Once it dries connect everything, and make sure they are firm connections. Sometimes bad connections can cause these glitches
@@PhillipsVision did all this.. Still the same problem... Bugger.... If I pull the fuses then put them back in it's stops.. But as soon as turn it off then off again it's the same issue...... Bugger...
@@lennondanielowski7564 most likely is the hopper relay then. That opens/closes the circuit to send power to the hopper. It could be stuck closed, causing power to constantly be going to the hopper
@@PhillipsVision I have the key..it won't reset..i swapped battery..I do a lot of pinball and arcade repair and restoration..got a great deal on 2 bally 5000 plus slots, I picked em up to give to my parents..they love to gamble! it keeps flashing a 4.5 JP, never ever shows CH or CL..the service button goes thru a menu, the reels spin..it was DOA when I first got it..so I know it has to be close to working again!
CaptNRetro if you’re locked in JP then it needs a RAM clear. The side key only resets the machine and does not clear the RAM. To clear the RAM you need the handheld controller that plugs in under the PCB board. If you don’t have it you can clear it by unseating the PCB board as shown in my video
Very well documented. I've just taken delivery of a couple of Bally 5000 machines.
Nice video ! Thank you for explaination !
NurboLibra you’re welcome
Nice video ! Thank you
Got a 1999 bally slot machine says safe arm disabled.
Reset machine.
Can you help
Did you mean safe ram?
My hopper will not stop turning.. Any coins dropped in go straight through... It's also humming very loud... Any advice?

did not reset mine..maybe you can help?
CaptNRetro to reset you need the reset/clear ram key. It should be labeled on the machine as the reset key hole

CaptNRetro you may have a problem with your PCB board
