How is it hard to understand why Rock asked to hold the belt? It was a power move, and a mental game. The Rock asked to hold it. Then said yeah this feels right. It was a vailed threat that he is coming for his title.

The exchange of the titles in the segment was symbolism. The rock showing that he is coming for the championship and Cody becoming the people’s champ or the champion of the people however you want to look at it. The exchange showed exactly what the crowd showed last night and that is - in the kayfabe world the crowd is choosing Cody over The Rock, and Rock is secretly plotting to dethrone Cody. 17:30

In 2013 Cody Rhodes asked The Rock if he could see the championship after The Rock won the title and changed the design of it. It was an off air segment but this was a call back to that and was a personal thing between them. On top of The Rock basically saying he's after the title, and Cody is the new "people's champion"

So this must go back to the conversations the Rock & Cody had together & it must be something they agreed upon when Cody was giving his WM spot to the Rock. What else could Cody have promised the Rock that hurt the Rock? So it's gotta be something that symbolized their agreement.

I think it was a set of keys and think the reference goes back to Raw 2011... When Rock unveiled the new belt (Current Style Belt) Cody came down and said he wanted to see the belt etc (Similar to what the Rock done/said to him last night). At the End of the promo (in 2011) he shakes his hand and he going to give him the key to ass kicking. I think the whole "Awkward section" ties into that as believe its more a "passing of the torch" type of thing.
Cody in the segment also said that in 13 years the title will be synonyms with Cody Rhodes not The Rock. (It was almost bang on 13 years). I mean thats some foreshadowing, The longest story to ever exist or absolute luck it lined up.
I mean there's loads of different thoughts, lighter, watch etc that ones just the one i think as a lot of that section point to it. I'm loving the fact its making the whole story telling interesting.

Bully, the Rock literally explained what the belt he had was and when he had the belt on his shoulder he said "I just gotta say, this just kinda feels right" foreshadowing him challenging for the title when he comes back. And also him having the title gives the people at home the image of the Rock with the title which is the same reason a challenger holds up the title on the go home after a beat down. It's genuinely very simple.

Rock knows how to adapt to what he hears from fans, remember Wrestlemania 18 when he switched mid match to a heel. Same through this run he seems to adapt to fans reaction
Yeah bully needs to give the guy credit. Granted bully knows the rock better than we do seein how they were in wwe at the same time for a period but, rock is versatile and knows how to pivot to give the people what they want
Also right at the end too - the pace of the match went dead, last Rock Bottom on Hogan, boos ring around, then the kick up to the peoples elbow - the fans were absolutely nuts. Think WM 40 was big, that was on an even grander scale. He's the GOAT for the simple fact he grasped the WWF is all about entertainment, and he did it better than anyone.

The Rock having that title was more for overshadowing Roman. Then using it as a power play. Then getting Cody over as the People's champ. It's very clear why it's there. Right now the Rock is a mark for himself. It's a fantastic play.

They made a deal, Cody agreed, but at the Kickoff show changed his mind by coming out interrupting and exercising his rights as Royal Rumble winner. The problem exists more for the Rock than anyone else because he wanted to dethrone Roman himself and have his glorious moment in the big WM 4-0, it was his big dream, which the Cody fans and Cody himself disagreed with by exercising his rights as Royal Rumble winner, forcing the story Pivot from HHH and The Rock and he's using that pain and anger in his heel interactions with Cody. Rock has to settle for taking the belt from Cody in a less glorious moment because of the pivot, he respects the business and what the crowd wants way too much to go against it, he did what was best for business even though he hated sacrificing his personal glory. Putting Cody over was more important, and he knew it, but now, he wants to cash in his payment for sacrificing his dream, by challenging Cody when he returns.

In the Rock’s mind mind, the Rock vs Roman would be the biggest Wrestlemania match of all time,
a battle for the Head of the Table of the Samoan Anoai Dynasty, a battle of family blood, bound by blood.
So Dwayne tried to convince and manipulate Cody into give up his shot at Roman and hand it to The Rock “for the good of the company, it was what your dad would have wanted..You can finish your story another time.” And it almost worked.
But when Cody decided at the last minute not to give up his title shot and face Roman at Mania, and by the #WeWantCody movement turning fans against the Rock, it “broke the Rock’s heart.” He blames Cody for taking “his” Wrestlemania main event at the biggest show ever away from him, and for turning the fans away from him.
Which is why a hurt and angry Rock turned into “The Final Boss” in response; he’s hellbent on power, glory and destroying anyone in his way.
Like Cody. And soon…like Roman.
I think the can i wear your belt segment point was to make Rock look defeated and make Cody look like the winner. The tune of The Rock when he said it was to make him look like one of the losing side.

I thought it was great. It’s weird because since this last return that’s been one of my favourite promos of his. However he’s got praise for others he’s done that didn’t compare..
@@lukegeorge927 yeah I agree. I feel like since Triple H is in control, we’re seeing more layered performances, stories, and promos. The Rock said in an interview this is the most fun he’s ever had at the wwe. I think he’s just enjoying the ride. I think the fans rallying behind Cody was the best thing for the Rock.
He literally showed up more often than we expected and filmed promos from his house. Then, he showed up on Raw after Wrestlemania with more subtleties. I don’t think he would be trying to come back so soon if it wasn’t for all of this. Since Vince is completely out the picture, you see how much CM Punk and the Rock are happy to be around more. They all look like they’re riding the biggest wave ever. And Cody deserves the star treatment he’s getting. What a time to be a PRO wrestling fan.
Triple H (the creative team) & booking departments were like Quentin Tarantino (for the Monday night RAW episode, last night).
The crowd gave The Rock the Dominic Mysterio experience/treatment lmao and I loved it.
IMO, Rock handed Cody the toy Cody’s daughter was playing with in the clip Cody shared. A message that the Rock can get to Cody’s family if he wanted to. Mind games 101.

My guess is that The Rock handed Cody a link from the red necklace Roman wears around his neck. The Rock is the head of the table now.
I don't think so because The Rock did not beat Roman in tribal combat and yes that also means bloodline rules but they have to face off in that match to determine head of the table, if anything and this is a wild stretch Cody is head of the table cause he beat Roman under bloodline rules but that's too much of a stretch, the only tribal combat match we ever got was Roman vs Jey

@@Iamone1111 In Samoan culture, there's a hierarchy amongst tribes...there's the tribal chiefs, and then there's the High Chief. The Rock is a descendant of the High Chief...and was even declared a High Chief in 2004 by the King of Samoa. He's superior to Roman by default, even if Rock acknowledges him as Tribal Chief.
I thought this too. If Cody has a link of the necklace, he would have every member of the Bloodline coming for it to potentially claim the leadership of that group. The stories could take you to next Mania. And Cody would have to defend the link... to not break Rocky's heart. And then give Rock a shot at the title.

Bully is right. The Rock was off. The crowd absolutely destroyed him. It was awkward. Rock wasn't on his game. There was an obvious point of exchanging belts (Cody is the People's champ now & the Rock is coming for his title), but the Rock wasn't setting it up very well. He wasn't on par with his promo skills usually. Cody SHOULD have said "If you want to touch this belt... do what I did... EARN IT!"
I believe why the Rock said, "you broke my heart" is stemming from Cody letting him face Reigns during their phone call, then changing his mind. I guess the item he handed Cody was the Rolex gift that Cody just bought for Seth, Roman and the Rock from their Saturday night match to tie them together.

I think it might be the actual watch, not broken. It could be a situation where Dusty sold it to the rocks dad but didn’t want to admit it because of pride. So the rock gave it back, showing that Cody owes everything to the rocks family including the run he is on now.

While Rock was holding the title Cody should have said "soak in the energy now because that's the closest you'll ever get to that championship as long as I'm defending it."
That would've made that moment mean more and it would've created more tension between the two.

I think it could be Dusty’s Hall of Fame Ring. Maybe Cody pawned it when times got tough before even the beginning of aew. Rock found out and went to the pawn shop to retrieve the ring because of his love of Dusty. This is what broke the rocks heart. Cody would have known what it was as soon as it touched his hand.
Cody was making very good money after he left WWE. In interviews, according to him, he was making significantly more money when he left WWE. So, that story wouldn't make any sense.

To me… The belt switch was Rock teasing he wants a new title run. Additionally, refers to Cody becoming “The People’s Champion” Rock had those fans in the PALM of his hand!

I think The Rock was testing the waters with asking to hold the title. Similar to when we had the segment about going to the bar and sitting at the “head of the table” he was seeing if there was going to be a pop and I don’t think they got the response they wanted.
I think it was a call back to dashing Cody asking The Rock to hold the WWE championship back in 2013 and Foreshadowing The Rock potentially going for Cody’s championship.
Well the head of the table remark got a huge pop and they still wanted Cody anyway so maybe that’s not the most reliable gauge? Besides Rock is a heel and Cody finally just got the title, did anyone really expect them to pop at the idea of Rock taking it from him already?

I think the belts was a hint for a future match. Cody will be champ until rock returns and the match will be undisputed title vs the people’s champ title. The rock wants to pass the people’s champ to Cody since Cody is now the people’s champ by heart.

It seems he lacks some physicality to me🤔 With that being said: I understand making Cody is “best for business”…..I don’t think he can carry the company for the next few months. When Punk comes back, I see a program with Drew way more entertaining than anything they have lined up for Cody.

We are assuming from this point forward the 4th watch went to rock. either way, it could be that watch, not the dusty one.
i think WWE realized that cody buying the entire night 1 main event watches and roman wearing at HOF it ruined keyfabe so they might go this angle to try and bring back the keyfabe. They might use a real event to blur the lines for what is "scripted" and what is "not scripted"
Also: im siding with bully's entire take on the rock segment and what was going on with the crowd...one thing i noticed that isnt mentioned: codys line about rock being technically his boss seemed like an unscripted line because it didnt fit at all and they didnt go anywhere with it

Honestly, I think it may have possibly been something else entirely, something personal between them. I think the Rock gave Cody a gift at some point, either earlier in their careers or recently, but Cody either gave it back or sent it back to him after he said or did something off-script during their rivalry that actually offended Cody. The Rock gives it back in a way that Cody can't possibly refuse it. I don't think it was meant for story at all. I think it was actually personal. They could certainly build storyline off of it since it was never shown, and say it was anything else, like the watch, but I think it was the Rock returning a gift he'd given Cody once already.
