Don’t forget all female characters and spider women can’t be snarky and can’t only be nice and welcoming especially if it’s to an alpha daddy like Miguel

As a girl with alot of traditionally masculine male friends. Guys LOVE talking about thier hair. Omg its always tow taper fade this and textured curls that. Literally they think about letting their hair grow out or buzzing it off like at least twice a week. That conversation was definitely realistic
Even just having brothers, I hear this all the time! My brother has called me just to say he wants his hair a certain way and then I don’t hear from him for the rest of the day. I bet that ‘critic’ guy has never talked to another man :/
I was expecting most of my guy friends to roast me for letting me grow my hair and cover my receding hairline with beanies and hats, but the moment I showed up at college with hair half on the way down to my shoulders they asked me to show my hair without hats and were all surprised, happy and supportive

16:42 The fact that he thinks it's unmasculine to love his children says waaaay more about him than it does about the movie. Depressing home life much?
Peter B. Parker is goofy, happy and laid back. I didn't know that translated to being stupid, weak and a loser. He's in a good place which I'm so happy about considering the dark place he was in in the first movie. The different men in this movie have different personalities which I appreciate.
Did he just forget how much of a depressed loser he was in the first movie? His life was falling apart back in his home universe. It took Miles to drag him out of the rut he was in and finally get his life back together.
To be fair. He didn’t throw a tantrum about a black character. He threw a tantrum about every other minority and not having a cool strong reserved white guy I love that he hates Peter B Parker now. I’m proud my new favorite cosplay pisses off these man-children
This movie is so irresponsible. There needed to be a scene where peter b parker and jessica drew turned to the camera in unison and said "don't do spider stunts if you are pregnant or carrying a baby. we have powers and also this is fictional" to clear up confusion.
I love how two idiots (Robot head and Critical Drinker) genuinely believe that wearing pink fills you up with estrogen. Thank you for covering Robot Head, I lost brain cells from watching his video back when it was first uploaded. I've yet to see a genuinely good video critiquing on Across the Peakverse, and nearly all of the ones I've seen felt either stupid or nitpicking territory.
1:20 Its very fitting that this guy calling it the “wokeverse” is calling dialogue about antagonizing facists and making a commentary about colonialism and how the British stole a shit ton of history and therefore stole a lot of their culture “unrealistic dialogue”. Because they can’t possibly wrap their head around political jokes from the other side 😂
Imagine being unironically mad that a Spider-Man character is acting like a smartass. If you think that's a serious problem, then you probably don't know a thing about Spider-Man.
there are certainly Spidey stories where it could be uncalled for (namely darker storylines like Kraven's Last Hunt, The Death of Jean DeWolff, Leah, or alternate universe yarns like the original Noir miniseries-though the world could honestly do with less of those cuz they aren't what Spidey's "for" primarily and most just feel po-faced and miserable)-but yeah!
Guy saw a trans flag and decided that it means the whole movie is bag cause it shouldn't be okay to accept people and have a different point of view in things.
Not even that. He's saying we shouldn't accept people for who they are or who they wish to be. He sounds like he wants everyone back in the closet and miserable.
It’s hilarious because there’s a chance that it’s only there because of a: the similarities of being in the closet to hiding a superhero identity so since she knows what it’s like she shows support and b: there’s a theory that her universes Peter Parker was potentially trans so she had it in support. The whole point is that it’s up for interpretation but this idiot can’t seem to understand that and assumes the “woke mind virus”
It's basically become a buzzword among right-wing communities when they're looking for an excuse to be bigoted. Pretty much any RUclipsr who uses that word in their video titles is an automatic sign that they have a right-wing bias when critiquing media
No, they're engraging people with the intent of polarizing them. Once they're polarized in favor of the RUclipsr's politics, they'll keep watching for as long as they're hooked. How do I know? I was once in that pipeline, and got out by playing Miles Morales and loving it
Besides it's not like you can't find bad media in this day and age or in any day and age really, if you can't find any bad media to talk about you just aren't looking at all. And if you criticize something people enjoy by throwing politics in there, when that is not the main point of the film at all, you are just being negative to start s*** as far as I can tell.
Nah that's not it because genuine pieces of trash that they can call woke like dustborn and concord still exists, there are people who just seethe when they see someone who is not like them being represented in a piece of media and try to justify their hatred in any way they can
So a man taking care of and wanting to be around his daughter because he loves her makes him emasculate?? Sure, Peter B's a goofy guy i get not everyone is into that kind of character, but don't call him lame, for idk being a father. So dumb.
Good god, this guy sounds like he doesn't understand Spiderman's character at all. Videos like this really just want me to tune out the word "woke" whenever I hear criticism of a movie.
my dad said practically the same things as this idiot ...but that's because he watched the 2nd film without watching the first film so didn't understand it
He’s literally just a sweet silly lean built guy. With a pretty accent too. He might come off as not traditionally masculine from a western perspective bc I know some of his moves and his style draws from Indian stuff like the dances. And we all know masc men can’t dance ever lmao 🙄
Robot head : Gwen Stacy is the main character of this movie. Me : Gwen's story in this film lasts 18 to 20 minutes in a 2 hour movie this argument is refuted if you just pay attention to the runtime.
To be fair, Gwen is the character that has thematic focus in the film as it's her arc that the film starts and ends with, but yeahhhh I don't think that's what he was talking about
@relic5752 Yeah, I know. Miles is obviously the main character but to make this middle film have some sense of conclusion they gave the emotional character arc to Gwen, so there is a small argument that she has the film's focus
It’s clear that Gwen’s arc was started and finished with this film and the next one will be mostly focused thematically on Miles and his struggles so either way his point is redundant
4:31 I’m pretty sure Peter B Parker literally makes a joke aimed at Miguel not long after this interaction pointing out how he specifically lacks the snark most versions of Spider Man have…
He don't even understand someone being undercover in an organization that they don't like to look for weakness or ways to take them down.... kinda like a spy.
@@vibez2806 Exactly. That's exactly what hobie's doing, destroying an authority from within it's own system. That's why he's building solidarity with Miles, Gwen and Pavitr.

i actually think he gave good evidence for the movie being somewhat allegorical for coming out or hiding being queer. why he thinks that’s a bad thing is….odd.
@@Loggodover his arguments pertaining to the presence of queer allegory through its themes, character developments and use of colour are mostly sound. his arguments addressing the quality/validity of this interpretation is, in my subjective opinion, garbage.
The section about Miles and Miguel being able to hear each other was particularly hilarious. Not only were they yelling, but Spider-Man has super hearing. Heightened senses are a basic part of the power set.
13:09 when i heard this, i paused, wound up my arm, and delivered to myself the hardest facepalm in human history. it’s a MOVIE. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO HEAR WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE SAYING.
"Instead of fighting against the spiderman norm" Hobie has been psychologically attacking (annoying) Miguel for so long or so effectively that Miguel literally sees him and goes "No. Im pretending youre not here." Which allows him to steal components and basically have free run of the base. The best way to rebel, is to lay down groundwork so when the opportunity arises (Miles) you can strike and be ready for the backlash. Hobie has built bonds, scattered his ideas around and taken the resources he needs to be independant once shit hits the fan. This is the equivalent to grass roots organizing, build community and resources so the government cant starve you out.
This! He was laying in wait for a vulnerability and a time where all eyes wouldn’t be on him. He’s just one guy, how the hell is he gonna revolt against possible HUNDREDS of Spiders by himself, during a moment where everyone including their leader is on edge? Miles was the catalyst for the main cast to finally side with Hobie, and the movie sets it up towards the end as their group vs Miguel and his strongest supporters. This is literally Hobie’s rebellion arc in motion
All I remember about this review was that he was bitching about women and minorities existing or Peter being happy he was a dad now. Thanks for ripping this garbage to shreds.
Robot head is everything wrong with self proclaimed RUclips critics -has no points and is just saying stuff -using "wokeness" to hide blatent racism and sexism -says they're a fan of something and then proceeds to get every detail about that thing wrong -complains about anything that isn't to their impossible to meet standards
I’d say I hate clipped coin more, because he said that x-men ‘97 was made woke, while not realising that x-men has always been an allegory for marginalised groups in society.
They don't know what the word actually means, that's the problem. It used to be a word used when highlighting racial injustice against minority groups yet now they claim that if they portray anyone who isn't a straight white male it's an attack on ALL straight white men. That's why he brings up points like all the men are incompetent compared to the women, Miguel is strong but is violent and agressive, Peter B wearing pink isn't masculine, etc... Edit: OBVIOUSLY this stuff isn't true, as already explained in the video debunking these entire argument. Just had to make it understood that I do not side with them.
Night of the Living Dead, a 1968 movie, would be considered "woke", due to it having a black man in the main protagonist role. The Wiz, a 1978 movie (also based on the 1975 play of the same name) is basically an all-black Wizard of Oz. Blood and Roses, a 1960 movie, is basically a movie about lesbian vampires as the protagonists. But I'm a Cheerleader, a 1999 movie, is about a girl who resists conversion therapy to "cure" her.
@@sorentothesky It's not too hard to find pre-2000s LGBT movies. But it is harder to find movies where a non-white lead is a major focus. Night of the Living Dead stands out due to it being made in 1968, which was during the Civil Rights Era. And I already knew of The Wiz, which many consider to be the Gold Standard when it comes to race-bending a pre-existing story. The Wiz does more than just change the characters' race. It also changes how they act, how the move, how they view the world, and even changes Dorothy's home and aspirations from an average girl on a farm in Kansas to an elementary school teacher in Harlem, New York. Even the music and their genres are different.
If he complains Gwen overshadowed Miles you'd think he'd be happy the white character "overshadows" the black character. I've seen way too many antiwokers and they aren't even consistent with their own complaints.
Having looked at their complaints and opinions, this is the tier list of people from most important to least important according to these people: White men Black men White + black women Gay people Trans people
alternate peter in the first movie: some lame guy alternate peter in this movie: remarried and has a kid “i can only take so much classic character destruction in my entertainment”
i don't even know if we can go that far because he spent the part about Uncle Ben's death ranting that Spider-Man shouldn't always have to rehash the origin story and they should be allowed to go outside of the box in writing... you know, the whole point of the movie 😭 he just has to say that the movie didn't say that because then if his audience watched it, they'd see how ridiculous he is
And the thing he’s complaining about is a blink and you’ll miss it moment. And it’s about Gwen being an ally. Unless she just decided to spend the whole movie not correcting people or was secretly trans the entire time(which I doubt is the case) there are pretty much no lgbt characters and even if they were, it’s not mentioned at all
I honestly don't think Robot Head even recognizes that Gwen HAD an arc. I think he gets so triggered by surface level stuff that he can't grasp character arcs, themes, or subtext in movies. One of the problems with the internet's democratization of film criticism is that many of the new self-appointed critics are people who genuinely do not understand how to engage with media. They're 'film critics' who literally don't know how to watch a movie.
That’s cuz they don’t. Woke is just being alert to social issues. So literally any social commentary. Last time I checked that’s a good thing and is extremely important and bad writing is the problem cuz literally anything can fall flat cuz of it. Hell him even complaining about the “now it’s a coming out story” doesn’t even make sense cuz what about that concept is bad? Was the writing bad? Oh it exists that’s why. What’s next? It’s “anti gay” cuz the romances we get are all straight
Haven't finished the video yet but man this guy is trying so hard to be The Critical Drinker level of comedy and CinemaSins level of not paying attention + speaking over the movies he "sins" just to play dumb and complain + sin said film about "not explaining" something it did. Majority of the complaints I've heard from him so far are pointing things out on the screen and whining about it or missing the point entirely which isn't far off from Cinemasins.
To be honest, Cinemasins' takes on movies aren't really meant to be taken seriously. I still watch him from time to time, and at this point, I recognize that he knows the plot of these films, but he was never meant to be a full time movie critic and decided to run his own thing ever since he started the channel. I really don't get why people have a problem with him.
@@AeonPhoenix he's often not sarcastic. Remember his chanel where he reviewed movies in his car? Suprise suprise his takes were the same as his "sarcastic" ones.

He is also the same guy who got mad at Simon Pegg for telling people who harassed Rose Tico's actress that Last Jedi is just a movie and it isn't serious enough to justify harassing an actor
It frustrates me that people understand it’s possible to be bad at reading books, but people don’t understand that it’s also possible to be bad at watching movies.
What is it with conservative or alt-right grifters having no media literacy whatsoever? You'd think that even if you're parroting racism, sexism, transphobia and homophobia for clout or money or whatever, that you would still have a baseline understanding of how movies work, or have an attention span that lasts long enough so that you don't complain about something the movie already addressed.
I feel bad for the bloke that made the original video... like it must be miserable to have such a narrow view of characters and men in general to where they basically can't do anything that isn't strong manly man things without being bad...
I can’t believe someone is this displeased with the sequel to Into The Spiderverse. “WAAAAAAH, BLACK PEOPLE EXIST, I WANNA LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE THEY DON’T, AND I CAN’T PRETEND THEY DON’T WHEN I SEE ONE ON A SCREEN! WHAT DO I DESERVE THAT FOR?!” I can hear his landlord realizing what he believes in and becoming shocked. I can hear it from miles away.
I'm just glad that people are starting to notice how people that unironiclly use the word woke when criticizing something are people that are not worth listening, this video being a perfect example of this
it's so crazy how being """anti-woke""" inherently decreases your media literacy by 50% bc all the points he brings up are either hearsay or literally pointed out in the movie 😭
I like how the anti-woke crowd call *us* easily offended and then make whole video essays about how the movie about superheroes who make jokes hates men because a superhero in the movie makes a joke
The pregnant Spider-Woman argument is insane. What does he think superhuman durability means? We watch superhero films to see stuff that isn’t possible in real life! Especially Spider-Man! The reason Spider-Verse began was the idea that anyone can wear the mask. You can be any color, any gender, or even any disability. (Sun Spider my beloved.) If you believe in helping others, you can do great things. I have my own spidersona because it’s such a perfect concept, and many of my friends do as well.
right?? spiderman as a whole is a concept centered around this very idea, which is why so many of them can be worthy of Mjolnir, why so many of them can form alliances with other heroes or have these recurring foes or love interests or whatever. Anyone can be bit by a spider, so theoretically, anyone could be a spider-person. My sona is a stuffed rabbit with a spider inside it ffs. Obviously there’s outliers (like Miguel, who was injected instead of bitten), but this clown missed the entire point of Spider-Man at all with this hissy fit over the spider diversity and whatever weird continuity he has in his head over what qualifies a spider-person
These types of people complain about people for being offended about little tiny things, meanwhile this guy is complaining about ever single thing in the movie and taking it as seriously as possible and taking it in the worst way too
Its also kinda funny that he complained its unrealistic for Miles to ask Pavitr about hair products. Y'know Miles? A dude with textured hair? Yeah apparently masculinity will just vaporize the second someone uses something other than 7-in-1 shampoo
This was the guy who first made me realise TLJ isn’t a good film, but overtime I've realised that this guy just has never made good arguments even back in the videos I first watched. It was during the time of Mando S3, which was where I learned that there is a difference between show/film quality and critiquing quality thanks to this guy, as despite not liking the show either I found his arguments weak at best and bad jokes at worst.
The fact that this guy complains about how this story retreads the same grounds of the old movies and comics, and then complains about how they changed the story of spiderman too much in the same video is just insane
His "criticism" of Ben Riley is hilarious because what he sees as a negative is, and always has been, how his character is. He's a clone of Peter Parker that is always struggling with whether or not he's a real person because his entire past and memories are not his own but Peter's. 😂
“You’re unironically complaining that a teenager is behaving like a smarmy smartass” Not just any teenager, a SPIDER teenager. That’s like the perfect smartass storm right there. Seriously, smartass quips are like their whole thing

0:40 This is so funny to me. I’ve seen one-star reviews of ATSV that basically go, “This movie is trash🤮🤮🤮. The animation is amazing though 😄😄!!”
Look SK you have to understand that when a movie is WOKE it violates us deeply

These types of people complain about people for being offended about little tiny things, meanwhile this guy is complaining about ever single thing in the movie and taking it as seriously as possible and taking it in the worst way too
Yep
Bro criticizing a teenager acting like a teenager 😂
Its also kinda funny that he complained its unrealistic for Miles to ask Pavitr about hair products.
Y'know Miles? A dude with textured hair? Yeah apparently masculinity will just vaporize the second someone uses something other than 7-in-1 shampoo
Nobody let him find the comic where Peter got his hair braided and asks T’Challa if he should wear a durag
This was the guy who first made me realise TLJ isn’t a good film, but overtime I've realised that this guy just has never made good arguments even back in the videos I first watched. It was during the time of Mando S3, which was where I learned that there is a difference between show/film quality and critiquing quality thanks to this guy, as despite not liking the show either I found his arguments weak at best and bad jokes at worst.
you're right, TLJ is a great film, not just a good one
I miss when "woke" was just the past tense of the verb "wake"
The good old days
Same, but ‘awakened’ just sounds so much better
it's woking time
*I WOKE UP IN A NEW BUGGATTI* 🗣🗣🗣
OMG. A Spider person is a smart ass?! Perish the thought!
😂
The fact that this guy complains about how this story retreads the same grounds of the old movies and comics, and then complains about how they changed the story of spiderman too much in the same video is just insane
His "criticism" of Ben Riley is hilarious because what he sees as a negative is, and always has been, how his character is. He's a clone of Peter Parker that is always struggling with whether or not he's a real person because his entire past and memories are not his own but Peter's. 😂
The fact that he’s complaining about proper yelling in the movie is insane

“You’re unironically complaining that a teenager is behaving like a smarmy smartass”
Not just any teenager, a SPIDER teenager. That’s like the perfect smartass storm right there. Seriously, smartass quips are like their whole thing
The second someone says woke in a movie review I instantly know they aren't reviewing out of their passion for movies
Pretty much
In conclusion, calling shit woke as a criticism, isn’t a fucking criticism-
Exactly
Saddest part of this video was that guy trying to convince himself having a kid and being loved by your wife is something “girly” and “feminine” (which makes it a bad thing)
Right! I thought the traditional (white) heterosexual family unit was what I conservatives wanted. But the commentator made fun of Peter B for obtaining it.
It’s sad how the word “woke” ended up with the same treatment as the word “feminist”
The moment they started unironically using “woke” as an insult I knew exactly what we were in for
That guy’s description of Peter B Parker was so revolting. He just listed completely innocuous stuff, but his voice was full of contempt and disgust. It’s incredible how people can fall so low...
This dude is literally just offended by these women just existing in the movie I swear
It’s hilarious
It's very rare to find a review that you don't just disagree with, but you fundamentally don't understand. For example I don't agree with what you said about MCU spider-man, but I understood your point, it makes sense even if I disagree.
But with this guy, half his points just leave me like "The fuck are you talking about dude?"
Ok I’m sorry but “Spider-Man why’d you create that guy?” is peak humor.
💯
Thank you so much You have no idea how long I've been waiting for someone to debunk this god-awful review
Bro is so obsessed with Peter’s Pink robe, ain’t no way bro got that grade school mentality still of blue = boy and pink = girl 😭💀
Also that robe looks comfy as FUCK!
its almost like he didnt have any actual criticisms of the film but was reaching for any reason to hate on a film with black male and (implied) trans female protagonists
Why would someone who uses the term "Woke" think like that? lmao
