    Great review. Ive been looking for and watching reviews on so many bags over the last couple of weeks. This is the only bag thats smaller than 24L, able to fit a 13" laptop, versatile, and cover all my hiking needs. Thanks for helping me decide.

    Hi, may i know if this bag feels unbalanced when only 1 side of the bag is filled, since there are two vertical compartments?

    damn you sold me on this bag. I was going to get the Lowepro Whistler 350 II, but I had a feeling that it would be too big for my regular needs. The Backlight 18L seem just about the perfect size for all day comfort. While I have 2 bodies and 10 lenses, I only really ever carry 1 body and 2, max 3 lenses with me at a time because once you add in the heavy arse quintessential 70-200 f2.8 and 85 f1.4 lenses things get uncomfortably heavy to take with you all day long, especially on a motorcycle as I'm usually on.
    The thing that made me second guess the Whistler was the 9" depth on the camera compartment (vs. 5.5" on the Backlight). 9" seems kind of really excessive even if you put your lenses in length wise.. I measured my second longest lens (besides the 70-200) which is the Sigma 12-24mm with the fixed hood and even that was only 5.25" which would fit just fine length wise in the Backlight. I'd rather have my gear semi snug than have it rattle around on my bag.
    Thanks for a great review!

      My Backlight 18L is for sale if that's of interest? Would depend on where you're located to ship. Cheers

    If it starts raining suddenly how well does it do BEFORE you get the rain cover put on?

    Nice review! Do you find that it feels "boxy" on your back?

      Honestly, I had no issues that way. The pack was very comfortable with no odd feel. Cheers

    Excellent review...thank you! Can this bag be used like the Top Shelf bag by Bevis Gear where you can swing it around to your front and lift the flap to get at your gear without setting the bag down? It doesn't look like the little strap (cord?) that goes over your head would offer enough support for a loaded bag to be safely suspended in front of you. Thanks!

      Many thanks for connecting in, the little stretch cord is only to hold the lid open so you can get at your gear. It's the heavy duty belt that supports the main weight of the bag and gear. Hope that helps. Cheers

    Thanks for the review. Can the hip belt be pulled around the front side and clipped together to get it out of the way, say while storing it under a seat on a plane?

    • @dinwa276
      @dinwa276 6 лет назад

      Yes, the hip belt clips around the front of the bag. The shoulder straps also fold over the front if you need. The bottom profile will then be just the back cushion.

    I'm searching for a bag and this is at the top of my list. Very helpful review, thank you. Tell me, how long a lens will fit in a vertical orientation? I have a few lenses that are 5" long. Will they have to go on their sides?

    • @paulphillips5128
      @paulphillips5128 2 года назад

      You could fit a 70-200 if need be.

    Is the front pocket large enough to hold a rain jacket or fleece jacket?

    am about to buy this bag. but am torn between this or the trailscape 18L? your thoughts

      Sorry for the late reply but main reason I would go for this bag is simply that it opens from the padded side which in mho is more intuitive and user friendly especially in adverse weather.
