I was catching little pompano like crazy on Vilano last week. Stopped in the bait shop and saw the floating rigs on the shelf. Gonna pick up a few next time I swing in.
Wow, what great content. All the Pompano and suggestions on handling them are what I heard from others also. I don't understand all the comments on that.. The Shark footage was tremendous. Thanks for helping a guy out. I know I would welcome it anytime. The Over The Bar rod , is it available at the Fishbites Outpost? Thanks for your work.
Watch it again from my perspective. I didn’t twist anything. You may know me, but I don’t know you at all or your fishing intentions. It was Not my intention to “put you on blast.” I said you were fishing for redfish and accidentally hooked a shark. Unless I’m wrong and you were actually targeting sharks from the beach. I just assumed you were targeting redfish or bluefish bc of the double drop rigs you were using. It was my intention to educate my viewers on the legal, safe, and correct way to bring in surf fish. You did a great job bringing him to the beach. Your technique was strong. I was just glad I was there to help you quickly and safely release that shark. No blast intended. I didn’t even mention your name. You were very far away from your cart with a big shark on the beach out of the water. I had to reel my lines in and stop fishing and help you bc your shark was heading down the beach in my direction towards my lines. You were far from your gear. I’m sorry if I offended you. That was definitely not my intention. I saw this as an opportunity to educate the young kids that watch my channel.
What store I can buy in St. Augustine? I am going to go fish on Wednesday and I will drop by. Buying online takes couple of days to arrived in our house. Thank you.
It definitely does. The ones that get dragged up are usually keepers for the cooler. It’s just for awareness really. No one is perfect when it comes to reeling in fighting fish. I’m just trying to raise more awareness and help educate the younger angler generations about why fish have Slime. Thanks Bill for watching and commenting. It helps the channel grow.
The over sensitivity of handling the fish is totally unnecessary. I have handled carefully and rough, thousands of pompanonand other fish and they all went back fine and had no issues. I even released fish inused as live bait, still alive after I used them, due to how I hooked them. No issues. Sometimes, trying too hard to be different or relevant just does not work. Relax and don't be so anal about fushing. With all the made up.rules and regulations and dogs and months, you take the fun and focus out of actually catching fish, particularly, catching fish for food.
Do you man! Fish how you want to. Pompano are a legally protected species as well as a game fish. I’m just trying to do my part to help protect them and spread knowledge about what can aid them in a greater chance for survival and help them get bigger for the next angler. I appreciate your comment and I hope you crush a limit on your next trip! 👍🏽😎
