Weber jumbo Joe 18" is durable, less than 28 lbs and stands the test of time like all webers. We have several sitting outside our cabin in northern wisconsin that have been there for 25+ years. Also like most weber grills you can pick them up used for next to nothing if not for free for big garbage pickup day. I'd still consider a nomad if they came down in price by $525
great video, what is the difference between grilling with indirect heat and smoking. at $720 with 2 grates i'll probably stick with my portable weber gas grill plus i'm not a fan of cleaning up the burnt charcoal. thanks again and stay safe
Thanks! In the case of this grill, you place the food directly over the coals to grill or off to the side for indirect heat or smoking. With our GMG Davy Crockett, the heat is blown in with fans with the actual heat source a bit further from the food. This is charcoal, the GMG is wood pellets.
Looks like a quality design and should last for years to come. Curious if y’all looked into the PKGO? Cast aluminum design with 4 way vending and the lid is removable and you can flip it giving you 2 hibachi grills or one smoker. Cast iron grates and thick aluminum casting make it a lifelong grill. It’s a steal at $269 in comparison.
That really looks like a nice grill & the food looked so delicious! Good to see you guys again & happy you're doing well! PS Stacie I love your Custer shirt!
Hi Gary. Yes, it's expensive, but we've been replacing charcoal grills on a regular basis. It's been tough to find something that stands up to the outdoor elements and our travels. If this one lasts like we think it will, the investment will be worth it for us. Plus, we really like the unique design. We've never had a grill that was this easy to pack away and carry.
...and the second grate is almost $150 after tax and everything. I think I would top out at $400 everything included but double that? Yeah no thanks I'm good.
We still have the Green Mountain Grill, Gregory. The Nomad Grill replaces our old charcoal grill. Between it and the GMG, we can cook just about anything outside.
It is REALLY easy to clean George! Honestly, that's one of the things we love most about it. We've added how we clean it to our post: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker .
Looks like you adjusted/ added more charcoal mid cook. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the “light ran out” also meant the chicken was under cooked and that’s not cool lol. Grill is cool thou.
for $600, I can buy a lot of Weber Smokey joes or go anywhere grills. I just dump ashes and then tote them in a garbage bag. What keeps that thing from burning table?
The exterior stays a lot cooler than the cook box on the inside. There is space between the 2 layers. And it sits up just a bit on little silicone feet.
We are really enjoying ours Sandra! We’ve written more about it on our website if you’d like more info: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker

Hey Tim! Sorry for the late reply on this. If you are still looking... yes, we still love this grill. Here's more on our experience with it: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker
Hi Rob. In this cook, we did not have to add charcoal. We did move the chicken over after a while, closer to the coals for direct heat. As far as adding coals: If we’re only using one side of the grill, we can slightly lift the grate and move it to the other side, add charcoal and then move the grate back.
Hey Del! We don't remember how much charcoal we used for that cook, but the Nomad charcoal lasts quite a long time. And one of the things we really like about the grill is that after a cook, we can close off the air flow, shut the grill and it will completely extinguish the heat saving charcoal for us to start the next cook with.
How is it holding up, does it cook pretty evenly with the airflow and all, is it still as durable as expected? Just seen this and I’m interested but skeptical haha.

Would love to hear as I am always trying to find room for all our stuff. Keep on enjoying and thanks for sharing
Hey John! Our outdoor kitchen consists of: our Nomad Grill, our Davy Crockett, a single burner propane cooker, and some cast iron (a dutch oven and several skillets... as well as a tripod for hanging the dutch oven over a fire). We also carry a small electric skillet that we can use inside or outside similar to this one: amzn.to/39lXm1f.
Just saw one of these in a Facebook video and got excited as I'm looking for a grill to carry on the truck with me while I'm on the road. Looked them up, saw the price and it was an instant pass. I don't see where they came up with a $650 price tag. Just not justified. I'll continue on looking.

This looks perfect. I wonder how much it would hold if I put my cast iron pan on? Definitely going to look into this. Thanks for the review and Tom enjoy your new grill...can't wait for some new cooking videos 😋

Well last time you reviewed a grill I ended up with the Davy Crockett. Great choice. I really like the design and quality of this Nomad but must have overpaid for engineering. Lol. That price is pretty steep in my opinion. Hopefully it will come down some because I would like to have one. Thanks.
Glad to hear you're enjoying your Davy Crockett Rodney. We love ours too. We are very impressed with the build quality of the Nomad, but yes, the price point is up there. We'll keep everyone posted on the durability.
I see alot of comments about the bugers, but did anyone notice the ass on the chicken 🤣🤣🤣 but on a serious note I've been searching for something like this as I love cooking outside. I drive rigs cross country and I absolutely hate eating in restaurants. So I think yall have made a decision for me as I was at a crossroads between this or the treager ranger. And you are right about the investment, I've went through 6 charcoal grills last year alone at close to $50 a piece. So if this stands up to the weather I drive through I think this will be better than the ranger. Thanks so much for a nice video and just diving into cooking on it. God bless
Looks like a great grill! I guess your green mountain grill didn't last! Good luck with this one! I knowcyou loved using your phone app with the green mountain! This one looks easier to use! How easy is it to clean?
Hi Ann. We still have and still love our Green Mountain Grill. Between our GMG and this Nomad Grill, we can cook just about anything we want. And yes, the Nomad is super easy to use and clean.
@@rvamericayall That is awesome! I was planning to hit the road right before Christmas, but I slipped on some ice and down I went! Didn't do my herniated disc any good so I am currently in physical therapy! Hopefully it won't take to long and my therapist can get me in good enough shape I can do some traveling! Yall have fun and stay safe!
Hey guys! We agree. The problem with trying to smoke for that long on this is having to open it to add charcoal underneath during the cook. We would always use our Davy Crockett for that.
Yummy, look at that juice pour out of that chicken when you picked it up Tom. Sure wished I had smell-0-vision lol. Just curious though, at the last there Stacy mentioned about putting vegetables on the top side and putting the grate on and then closing the grill. Wouldn't the juices run out when you went to close it? Might make it messy.
Hey Ty! Depending on the amount of moisture in the veggies, yes they would drip. But no more than if you put a vegetable tray in the grill (we have a couple of veggie trays with holes for grilling... it keeps the veggies from getting too soggy as they cook. The Nomad is very easy to clean.
I agree with you Stacy grills just don’t last. Tom was like a kid in a candy store, he was like let’s get this thing cooking...good idea for my stimulus check. Tom needs a cooking channel, Lol....

Thanks for doing a great review. I have two questions ... 1. how long did the chicken take, was it on BBQ setting? 2. could you use regular briquettes?
Looks like the guy who packs apple products has a side job packing Nomad Products! Love the grill but I don’t have as much space as an RV! I’m Overlanding in a Jeep Cherokee! But I’m drawn to the portability! Did you say you can close that up with the coals and stash away in your vehicle? That would be a reason to buy lol! Or have you noticed how long it takes for the coal to die once it’s closed and starved for air? Thanks again for the review! He definitely looked like a kid on Christmas opening that thing! We’re still youngsters in the game but look forward to being where you guys are at! Be safe and God bless and your family!
Hey Ramon! We are loving the Nomad. And yes... the packaging was on par with Apple. 😂 When we finish with a cook, we close it up and close the side vents. We're not sure how long it takes to completely cool inside. The outside stays cool compared to the inside firebox. We typically let it cool completely before we load it up just to be safe. But we always have coals to start the next cook with. We do have some ash fall out of the bottom as we travel, but not too much. Bottom line is we absolutely LOVE the portability and durability. It is holding up great!
Clean up is super easy, Joe. We close the lid, latch it shut and close the vents on the side to extinguish the coals. After it has cooled down, we remove any reusable charcoal and vacuum up the cooled ash with our little shop vac. We talk more about the cleanup on our website: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker
I ordered one of these after watching your video. They are still on backorder and we hope to get it this month !! ( March 2020 ) I agree with some that it is expensive, but like you, if it lasts, it's worth the price.
First of it’s very expensive for a portable grill. Do yourself a favor and buy a Webber jumbo portable grill. My jumbo grill has been all over for the past decade. I doubted it when I bought it for $ 40 bucks it was on sale at Target because it was the display and but it has been a champ. 595 is was too much money
Good review. I like the blue polymer strips on the sides, handle and latches that allow you to easily grip the grill and set the grill on any surface without marring the finish of the surface it is on. The fact that it was designed, built and is sold 30 miles from our house in North Texas is a plus, too. Have a wonderful day...........Howard and Betty.

It gives us a much better charcoal cooker than what we had before. It’s ready to go as soon as the charcoal is ready. We control the heat with the vents on the side.
Enjoy the snow! Rainy, windy and cold here at the coast, but no snow.
@@rvamericayall Sounds like I need to pick a Nomad up and add it to my RVing cooking arsenal 😂 I can think of many uses for just based on weight, size and cooking area! Thanks Guys!
We're loving it so far! Here's more on our experience with it: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker . If you decide to order one, please use one of our our affiliate links. Thanks!
God bless

Custer??
Cooking not Custer! 😂
What went wrong with your GMG?
Hey Mark! Nothing went wrong with it. We still love it. The Nomad is our new addition. Between it & the GMG, we can cook pretty mich anything.
Thanks
Yikes! So sorry to hear that. Hope you recover quickly.
Great looking grill but $599??? I can’t get there.
J'en voudrais un !!
Great loot grill. Havarti is just creamy goodness. That’s why
Love us some Havarti Barbara! 😋
Nice
Thanks
You know, if it lasts more than 3 years it's worth the price. Would be interested in seeing you smoke a brisket over 10 hours with wood chips. Cheers!
Hey guys!
That chicken looked like it was ready to hike a football on 4th & goal.
I agree with you Stacy grills just don’t last. Tom was like a kid in a candy store, he was like let’s get this thing cooking...good idea for my stimulus check. Tom needs a cooking channel, Lol....
LOL Randy! Tom is so excited! We are loving the grill so far. We've written more about it on our website: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/charcoal/nomad-grill-smoker . If you do decide to order one, we'd appreciate you using one of the Nomad links on that page. We like it so much, we've joined their affiliate program.
Went with a table top pellet grill for less than half the price nice review tho very informative
We understand. It’s definitely pricey. But it’s holding up great! We’re hoping the durability makes it worth the extra money. So far, so good.
Thanks for doing a great review. I have two questions ...
1. how long did the chicken take, was it on BBQ setting?
2. could you use regular briquettes?
Glad you enjoyed it RJ. The chicken took about 5.5 hours cooking at 250 degrees. Yes, you can use any type of charcoal.
The second grate did it !
We love the second grate!
It's different looking, but nice..
We've never seen one like it.
If someone has already asked, then please forgive the duplication. Was wondering what the cleanup is like.
@@rvamericayall That's great; will check out the website. Thank you! As an aside, we'll be down in site 807 soon; our dogs want Star's pawtograph!
I ordered one of these after watching your video. They are still on backorder and we hope to get it this month !! ( March 2020 ) I agree with some that it is expensive, but like you, if it lasts, it's worth the price.
Hope you get soon Tom. We are still loving ours.
Did you get it? Was it worth it??
First of it’s very expensive for a portable grill. Do yourself a favor and buy a Webber jumbo portable grill. My jumbo grill has been all over for the past decade. I doubted it when I bought it for $ 40 bucks it was on sale at Target because it was the display and but it has been a champ. 595 is was too much money
That’s very fair but I really do like how easy mine is to port around! Thanks for the comment.
Hey Howard and Betty! We agree 100%... this is a really well thought out grill. And yes, from your neck of the woods!
Awesome grill and really portable. Unfortunately way to pricey for me.
We hear ya Donald. It's definitely pricey, but so far the durability is exceptional.
👍👍
Thanks Mike!
for that kind of price why not get a professional grill like the mgrill M80...... its built like a tank... you won't be wearing it out...
Thanks for the tip!
That looks like Jamaica Beach.
You got it Patrick! 😁
