If i get a second one ill do this. I don't want to destroy the one that came with the batwing but i did buy the batwing to repurpose it for the 3 inch figures but I don't want to glue the seats in so what i might do is create a half shell to go into the cockpit that is only attached with Velcro strips and put the seats and navigation computer within the half shell then i may use use some air dry clay or greenstuff to make an insert to blackout the backside of the cockpit. i find it weird that they make the giant batwings canopy so open like they did but whats even more weird is that they had an idea to make it for the 12 inch figure which can only take a nap in that thing lol..
LOL! I get ya. Well, for what it's worth, the figures when sold alone are only $10 to $12 tops, so it's not like you are really gambling with a lot of money. And, you can repurpose the Batwing for the smaller figures....just a thought....either way, have fun!
Yeah I think this is just a phenomenal piece of custom work. However, the phone he used to record this must be 10 years old :) Excellent job regardless! Epic looking figure.
Made the cape from some material I got at JoAnn's fabrics. Stand, if I remember right, is a reworked Hot Toys Ledger Joker stand I wasn't using. Earlier release.
Dope vid, i started collecting and repainting every 12 inch Batman movie version lmao , and would like to know whats the best leather to use for the cape?
I simply go to a fabric store like JoAnn's and look. There are several types of pleathers there, some are quite thin, with hardly any noticable pattern. They drape well, are heavy, and hang well. Then there are others that have more pattern and look a little more like real leather. Some of those drape well, and some are too thick. Too stiff. I found a great fabric once, that I got enough of to last me years, it's all gone now, but it had a sort of leather quality to it, but it was a one ply fabric that also draped well. Not sure how to tell you beyond that. I go by feel mostly, and hope it will last and not peel later on. Someone else may more more about fabrics and pleathers to tell you more. Best I can do.
I hear ya. Sometimes, if you are unsure, it's not fun to mess up a figure. It is cool out of the box. It is just more cool worked up some is all. But...A new cape does WONDERS!
Depends on what type of acrylic paint you used. I use a flat acrylic enamel made by Vallejo (from hobby stores) and then spray all my figures and repainted toys with a Japanese spray called Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear Matt in a grey can. It runs about $12 to $16 in most markets. It is quite toxic so ventilate well, and mist it on, don't spray it on hard. Layers are better than heavy coats. It will really seal your figures well. Best of luck!
This looks incredible. I may try this with mine.. I’m normally Just a custom paint guy but this inspired me. Ever worked with Apoxsee putty before so… that is sort of daunting. What paints did you use for his face? And was that hand paint? Almost has to be due to the detail, right?
Thanks for the kind words. On one of these videos at the end I put the info on Magic Sculpt putty and how to get it. Apoxsee I assume is about like Magic Sculpt, in that as long as it is a 1 part to 1 part equal putty of sorts, and is a slow setting, workable medium, that is sand-able, etc., then they are probably about the same. Pour casting stuff is different. This is like a hardening modeling clay that you mix the two equal parts. I just roll little balls until they match size, and start folding until they blend. That way, you only use a little bit at a time, out of a 5lb kit, which is a lot, and can last a LONG time. Hand painting is all I do on any surface. I don't own an airbrush.

Brilliant custom, where is the cape and stand from if you mind me asking?

@@LesWalker2023 thank you, very hopeful 🙌🏻
What kind of fabric did you find for the joints i think you did a great job
A thin black pleather I found at JoAnn's Fabrics. No idea beyond that. But it was very smooth and thin. Pliable!
@LesWalker2023 Thanks, Les I appreciate you taking time to respond have a great day
Hope you find it and best of luck! @@Y2HLechampion
I have mine dont want to do that unless i get another one.

Your Japanese sealing spray wouldn’t happen to be Mr. Hobby UV cut super clear flat would it?
Sounds right! Grey or Blue can. B514y or B530. UV cut is a little more, but protects better, longer.
I've followed your steps, but when I painted the hood with black acrylic, it turned out very shiny. How can I make it matte like yours?

What do you recommend for painting the lips? I don’t want them to look pale but I also don’t want it to look like he’s got lipstick on.
Skin color (whatever you are using) mixed with very little red and grey Keep it toned down, but don't be afraid to make them a color.
You should sell some of them headsculpts😂
I wish I had thought of that before remaking mine. Would have to cast it etc. Thanks though!
@Les Walker yeah no problem, and believe me, people will pay good money for your work.
When you paint the head do you airbrush or hand paint?
Only handpaint. Don't own an airbrush.
Do you take orders?
Sorry, no time at present.
Can you list what putty?
