Very cool game! Feels like it's inspired by Daniel Mullin's games, mostly Inscryption, which is a layered experience and as the primary gameplay loop is card based might be up your alley, and Pony Island, which uses the retro pixel style with you playing the game in-universe that has some of the under-the-surface stuff you liked here. It's fun how this artstyle's gotten popular in the horror game space, like how Faith: The Unholy Trinity uses it as a contrast for its more detailed rotoscoped moments/cutscenes, and like you pointed out the FNAF minigames. I'm definitely looking forward to more of their work, thank you very much for helping share this!
