I believe that the 389X will be more valuable than a numbered classic 359 or a 379X. Mainly due the fact that it is truly the end of an era, assuming that the huck-bolted Peterbilt cab that we all love, will be going buh bye. That cab is a huge part of what makes a Peterbilt, ever since the design came out in 1973 and hasn’t changed drastically, that cab even made a 386 cool. More than likely it’s replacement will be a 589 or some sort of 579 with a plastic w990 type hood. Sad really.
The 379x was built in '04,'05,'06. The last year of the 379 in '07 or '08 is when they built the numbered 379 LEGECY trucks. Know your history guys c'mon.
I'm not a huge Pete guy, never have been, but that 389X is going to be a $$$$ collector item and is absolute perfection. The only way it could be any better is if you could get it as a glider. Damn shame they aren't going to make them any more.
I saw the 589 in Renton, it looks good really good the hood still has huck bolts down the side, SS side air cleaners and SS cab mounted mirror arms. Best of all the grill and grill surround are still the same classic Peterbilt look, Its nothing like a 990 thank god.
The 389X looks awesome. I know that @BruceWilson has ordered a 2023 Peterbilt 389 from you guys. As for electric trucks... the supply chain is going to slow down even more than it is now due to the limited range, like 200 miles between charges.
@@Tafitzy the pride and class did have interior that was different then the regular 389 but you would think since the 389x is going to be a limited run and the last 389 they would make it a bit more special looking.. Well I don't want to piss anybody off BUT when CAT stopped supplying the engines for Peterbilt that was the end of Pete for me. Sorry but that's just my 2 cents worth!
They are stopping production on the 389 huh. They better not be making a mistake. I hope they have their white about them and have a proper replacement to the thrown.

Personally, I would give anything to own a 2002 - 2003 Peterbilt 379 EXHD. If I was offered a Peterbilt 389 (final or otherwise), I'm not sure what I would do. I really hate the EPA crap on the newer trucks. As for electrification, you can blame the EPA and Kamala (flipping) Harris for the 2027 "electric truck mandate". I personally feel this EPA crap is stupid beyond reason (plus some things I shouldn't say).
I sure hope the shit don't happen really don't cant believe how everything "cool" about trucking is literally being taken away from us people can say what they want but trucking isn't a job to me and alot of others lifestyle but now they make it not fun at all anymore truck drives itself epa bs etc etc
I’m a diehard Peterbilt guy, but I have absolutely NO interest whatsoever in ANY of those 389X’s. I’ll stay true to my ‘17 Fitzgerald “Dirty Idle” Glider.
Wow I really like that 389x is nice those polished finders are cool and that under glow in the breathers is cool its a all around good looking truck I would to have a blue one
electric cars and trucks is only going to kill the custom and motorsport scene, hope people start realising that and everything running on batteries is not going to work and is not good for the envirment , a mix of both is the best
I’ll give Peterbilt credit on the electric truck, as in it doesn’t look like an alien spaceship. It still looks like a normal truck. But I’d be the one who needs a set of 7” stacks on it anyway 🤘🏻
I’m sorry to say but this country is NOT ready for electric trucks yet.. go to a busy loves, TA or Pilot now and you have to wait to fill up. Now think how long it takes to charge a Tesla… truckers will be there all day to charge.. they need to build the infrastructure first before the even decide to go that route
LOl class 8 electric god help us if you thought the 08/12 EPA standards were bad just you wait because California just had a hold my beer moment. Don't worry though us drivers will never get to drive a electric truck because they want too replace us with a self driving truck, LOL what a time to be alive.
I have a Pride &Class and yess my interior panels are different and specific but the price of that 389X is outrageous....and completely nuts it will be close to or more then 300 grand!!!!
Can’t imagine what the price will be on one of the 389X I’m at 264,9 with my ‘24 389 sleeper being built So stoked to be getting a last year model of one of these trucks
Would love to have one. My 379 burnt back in Feb. Put me out of business was in my second year. Just had trans rebuilt week before. Insurance just paid it off.
I work for republic services, and we have 3 EV Peterbilt's, they are definitely weird to drive. on a full charge we can get through the whole day and that is without running the A/C all day (only towards the end of the day heading to empty the truck. when we get back to the yard the lowest, we have been is 38%. the biggest thing is letting the truck regen when it comes to breaking, cause that will help shove a lot of power back into the batteries. all in all, cool concept but even then, we can't use the freeways because it just sucks a lot of battery power out.
Hey Tommy is Salty Rose still around the plant??? I did a factory tour in January of 2020 and he was the man to show us around! Such an awesome guy! Pretty sure he knows every square inch of that place, and evey employees name! Love the content, keep up the awesome work!!
The new trucks are really nice but I'm an old ex truck driver that prefers nice older equipment that I learned to drive, an grew up with. Admittedly, I wouldn't mind driving one of the new trucks. Like other things in life truckin gets in your blood .
What they going to do with the electric trucks and cars when the battery start going bad at them that's a hazard material right there and they built a power plant in 77 years so unbelievable
End of an era. Government mandates are going to force all trucks to be more aerodynamic and environmentally friendly. 389s are definitely popular but this has more to do with politics and what politicians see as progress.
Talked to my Peterbilt Dealer in NJ and the sales people just suck. I wanted to know if I was going to pull / haul 120,000lbs (I understand I would need an overweight permit) Would I be fine with a regular 389 or do I need a heavy haul version?
It makes me laugh this electric truck stuff. In the fifties and sixties the milk delivery to houses was done by a fleet of electric delivery trucks. They were about the size of a regular step van and you could hear them coming as they sounded like an electric forklift. It was a winning noise. They had them plugged in along the wall of the dairy. So folks, there’s nothing new, it’s just a repeat with new players.
They did a good job with the electric keeping it looking normal but I’m more interested in the hydrogen stuff paccar is working on. I think that is more likely the future of otr. Not electric, at least until they figure out the grid and battery problems.
Sucks. I'm a new truck driver and the 389 classic style is the the truck I want. Seems like it will take me way too long to get the money to buy 1 of them.

The 589 reminds me too much of the 387, quite possibly one of the ugliest conventionals ever made behind the Kenworth T2000
@@ricochetey true!
Some brainwashed marketing to get some suckers to dump some money on some peice of metal .
Wrong. The 389x is just a pride and class rebadged. A 379x is a true special edition truck will keep its value higher over the years.
Might be more valuable but they will never be cooler than a 359.
Sad to see all the classic looking trucks coming to a end. Pretty sure the w900L will be next

Peterbilt better keep to square Hood the flat big grill is the one big seller where the money at
It would be more than I could ever afford.
Peterbilt should keep the final 389 and put it in a museum .

1/2 hour and call a big diesel generator to charge her up and go again..
It would work. But, only for a little while. Lol
