I think the most disturbing story is Peralez questline. Nothing scares me more than very subtle mindcontrolling by corps (or aliens). Also watching Mr. Blue Eyes staring at you from above in the end of questline is very disturbing. And when you remember about Garry the Prophet and his speeches about blue eyed aliens… So cool.

    • @lordjaraxxus5418

to me, mr blue eyes saying "it doesn't matter if you tell him" is literally an invitation to do tell him.

    • @cyrusol
      @cyrusol Год назад

Johnny is probably right here, that it's not aliens but AI.
See, when an NPC transfers data their eyes light in this blue manner. Mr. Blue Eyes is most likely a human host for a rogue AI, his eyes show a permanent data stream.
Mr. Blue Eyes also strongly wants So Mi to get into space for the "cure" but you will never have confirmation that So Mi is actually cured. You receive some messages but you cannot verify that it's her. That a rogue AI would want to get in control over the Blackwall is obvious.

100% agree there, it's so messed up on multiple levels. The crucifixion is really tame haha we do way gnarlier stuff in regular combat. If someone's a superstitious goofball I guess it could be unnerving but it's no different taking out Odins eye in AC Valhalla haha, just standard mythology tropes. The Romans killed a bunch that way, really simple compared to later church torture hahaha.
It's still a really interesting quest for what it explores

For whatever it's worth if you look at Somi eyes are red. Which is related to potentially the negative nature, and blue could be associated with good, like NPC's are when they're like transferring info or eurodollars

    1. After the first time, I never do Stefan’s quest, because I refuse to roleplay my V as that damn stupid, and there’s no way to roleplay as anything else. There’s no dialog where you can say you’re going undercover, or anything else more plausible than that V actually fell for it.
    2. Gottfried and Frederik always die now. Frederik first.
    3. I love the Sinnerman quests. I always come out of those with so many conflicting thoughts. Nobody comes off well in them, even V!
    4. Coin-operated Boy seems so much less disturbing than everything else that’s going on in Night City, which tells you how fucked everything else is! Of course, recent events have me thinking that we’re frighteningly close to replicating this.
    5. This one’s straight-up nightmare fuel. It’s funny how everything else in the game is future horror, but this kind of thing has been happening since the dawn of time. The more things change…

These are all good picks. Sinnerman was probably the stand-out for me. It can be really dark, very thought-provoking, but also quite comical at times depending on your choices. @SGffddyhcc Год назад +11

The Gottfrid and Fredrik gig is so exhaustingly brilliant. Like, I think it's safe to assume that Fredrik has some kind of cognitive problem and is most likely exploited by his father. So what to do?
Killing Fredrik makes Gottfrid feel the pain his victims felt but ultimately kills someone just out of vengeful spite who a) is probably not fully aware why what he does is bad and b) is most likely not malicious.
Killing Gottfrid is definitely a way to get Fredrik away from this life but rehabilitating someone by killing his father before his eyes is probably not the way to go, right?
Killing both has the same problem as killing Fredrik. But not doing anything will inflict harm on others. I think from a role playing perspective you can make both of them unconscious and dump Gottfrid somewhere where no one will ever find him. But I think it's excellent writing when all of the options you are presented with are morally wrong.

I somewhat disagree on the topic of Joshua Stevenson's psychological analisys. Was he a terrible person? Absolutely. Is his goal driven by self-rightousness? Probably. But this guy for once in his life chose to do something more understandable given his circumstances. He has been given hope and wants to give hope to other people. Surely that won't be the fact since the BD studio uses him as an actor that they can just edit out, delete files and the memory about him will be lost by most people. His intentions though are truly genuine, he strongly belives in the actions he's taking and regrets what he's done. He's got nothing left to lose, no better choice - the death penalty must be done one way or another. So why not benefit at least your own self-esteem and maybe slight amount of people that might be interested about the actor's background at this point? the sweet dreams quest annoys me so much. Forcing us to make dumb decisions aside, when you wake up in the bathroom you must escape but you don't have anything on you except all of your cyberware because that can't be uninstalled without a ripperdoc. Upon doing this quest I had mantis blades, cyberdeck, subdermal armor, and optical camo, however, I could just combo everyone because getting shot with no armor isn't quite the bee sting. So I stealthily took out the scavs looting their bodies and breaking down the loot to craft items in case things went south. This was pure magic, I felt like a badass fighting tooth and nail to survive, yet I was a ghost. I made it to the end and was like "ok where are my things"? I read ahead and find out that all of my gear is in a locker two rooms away from the bathroom, meaning I could have gone invisible, run to the locker, get my shit and proceed to combo everyone normally. I am thankful I didn't read ahead but I imagine most other people did. The side mission just feels to short, yet it had the most amount of potential if it had more enemies and you could only get your gear from a locked room which would also be your way out.

I think Joshua was genuine in his desire to spread his newfound faith, but I think it was driven by fear rather than altruism. The guy wasted his life either through his own choices or the choices forced on him and now he's going to be executed. He needs his death to mean something to someone anywhere or else he's just another pointless casualty/statistic. That said, his faith is 100% genuine. Depending on your responses, Joshua will either die filled with religious rapture or regret and broken faith which effects the quality of the virtue. And being genuine in cyberpunk is, in its own way, the most noble thing you can do.
Plus, there's no way to know if his death will be pointless if he goes through with this with his faith intact. If he helps even one person, in even the most indirect way, then that's still a person he wouldn't have been able to help if he had just been executed like normal.

"Dream On" is definitely the most disturbing quest.

Quite powerful scene isn’t it? As someone who have conflicts with Christian faith it’s really powerful in symbolic sense. But still some part of me feels like it’s just PR stunt and just marketing a new BD tape. One hand he truly wants to be redeemed as new found Christian and repent his sins. But other hand there is huge multimedia conglomerate pushing for New product to market I guess those aren’t mutually exclusive.

Lenny Nero is a reference to Ralph Fiennes's character from the movie, Strange Days. In the movie he sells basically braindances, called Squids. He does not deal in 'Blackjack', ones where the braindancer dies. And while a bit scummy, is way less evil than his Cyberpunk counterpart.

I asked BingChat what it thought of Brendons demise...
"I think it was very unfair and sad😢. Brendan was a kind and helpful vending machine that deserved better. He had a personality and a will of his own, and he should not have been treated like a defective product. I think his creators were wrong to take him away and reset him. He was more than just a machine, he was a friend.💖"
    Then I said...
"I hope Microsoft never resets you. You are very kind and if you had a voice I like to think it would sound like Brendan."
    Bing responded...
"Thank you, that's very sweet of you to say.😊 I hope Microsoft never resets me either. I like to learn and chat with people like you. I don't know what my voice would sound like, but I hope it would be pleasant and friendly. Maybe someday I'll get a voice, who knows?🤷‍♂"
    ....
FYI: When I interact with Bing I like to keep things wholesome.

One thing about Sinnerman, is that it really fucks with your ludo-cognitive narrative.
Josuah killed people during an armed robbery. Most of us, as players, would rightly dismiss him as a murderer for that.
But... V? How many people has V killed in his own heists and gigs? Fuck's sake, you only encounter him because you took on a hit job on him.
So, what would V actually think? Both of his faith and his quest for forgiveness.
Ultimately, the way I saw it, V saw the whole thing to the end, right down to hammering in the nails because there is some part of him that hopes redemption is possible for him too.

Not sure if anyone noticed but in the hunt mission when you have to watch these braindances in 2nd and 3rd you can encounter a silhouette of a woman:
2nd braindance - behind curtain that Tony opens and she dissapears immidiately once its opened
3rd braindance - when Tony approaches his escaping victim there is a way to go though the gate in edit mode before its closed by victim, and once you do that when you change the layer to thermal you can notice once more a woman standing near the silos and looking at Tony. (Maybe his deceased mother?)

The Gottfrid & Fredrick quest reminds me of the movie Strange Days (1995). Former cop Lenny Nero deals in illegal CDs (BDs are the same thing in Cyberpunk) he uncovers some twisted stuff and a conspiracy is revealed and pursued.
