    as someone who played persona 3-5, to not get overwhelmed with scheduling on the calendar system, i always just make a urgency/importance chart, for example if there's social links available but a limited stat booster event is on, i picked the limited event first if i feel like my stats are low, and pick the social links if i feel like i have enough stats. Sure, you can't really max everything in one playthrough this way, but it's way less complicated than having a guide tells you what to do on every time frame. Anyways, enjoy your time with Metaphor!

    I've also struggled getting into persona as a franchise. I can't agree more that the highschool trope just doesn't do it for me. I love fantasy and the setting really nailed this one in for me. Imo it's Atlus's magnum opus and the culmination of decades developing games.

    I think the popularity of autobattlers have shown developers and players that there really is no harm in implementing mechanics that bypass mindless battles that require no skill. These have existed since the 90s. Earthbound let you skip weak enemies, and Suikoden had an auto-battle option (but intentionally extremelt subobtimal). JRPG games implementing decently intelligent auto-battle modes that can be used for anything but boss battles, and letting you skip low level enemies is a solid change. The complexity should be put into building/designing your team, and special encounter enemies.

    There is grinding, you just need to understand the MC Arc type bonuses. Mage gives you 1 MP per overworld kill or stun. Trash mobs are easy to refill MP off of in dungeons. And the Merchant Archetype will give you more items and coins for a kill, which stacks up killing trash mobs in the overworld. There are videos on locations and strategies, but even with grinding, you will need to strategize fights. I use mage on MC which allows me to 1 Day a dungeon.

    Honestly, I do not think you will get to Persona 5 after finishing this game. You will most likely feel drained and will want literally any other JRPG than a Persona. I recommend Shin Megami Tensei 5 in case you still want to explore Persona 5 but without the weird and annoying restrictions and activities that overwhelm you. Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is out, and is the definitive edition. Of course, in case you did not play it already.

    Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean was my first JRPG. Then I started Legend of Dragoon, Grandia, Luna, tales series, Star Ocean, Final Fantasy and many more. I started the Persona series very late (Persona 5 first) as I heard the dungeon is repetitive for 1-4. I just 100% Metaphor: refantazio with hard difficulty.
    The problem this game also has is reusing the dungeon design(linear one goal is to kill the boss at the end), layout, dungeon type and mob variety(a lot of reuse, maybe that's why I can't find a monster wiki as just bigger number at later dungeon). I stay for the story, gameplay, character and the atmosphere. Persona 5 has better OST while Metaphor OST is pretty unique but short and lacks variety( Dungeon same 3 music).

    i was aware Persona and SMT were great games but never really got into them (despite being a long time JRPG player esp. FF series). Now reFantazio story is of a faster pace and feels easier to get into (the fantasy setting helps). It has been a great experience for me.

    As a Persona fan (who started with P5), Metaphor gives me hope that ATLUS will one day let their Persona game take place in a college, office building, or shopping mall. Give us adults to play as!
    Heck, imagine being part of a construction or road service crew, and you blitz out in your company truck to cordone off an area and then hop down a manhole or whatever to start fighting demons with your Persona.
    Persona 5 was great (and P3R was even better) because they thrived under the limitations set for the characters due to being in high school. Persona 4 could have been an Agatha Christie-style story, where the MC was just visiting for a family reunion, and then decided to stick around to help Dojima solve the case. The fact that they were in high school didn't really mean much for the plot. P5's school was tied into alibis and the timing for heists and the like, while P3 had the school be the site where Shadow experiments took place, giving some extra weight to the Mitsuru corporation's sins.
    Metaphor completely dropping the school side of the system gives me hope that the next time we see Igor, it's for something a bit grander than missing an English test.

    • @AdziGaming
      @AdziGaming  2 месяца назад +1

      I'd love if P6 was set in a college too. I'll definitely be there day 1 because I want to see if I can really get into a Persona game

    Have you tried Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne?! There's no trivial battle regardless of the level gap between you and the enemies because one bad decision (or eventual random crits here and there) can completely change the tides of every battle and even if you win the cost could be too high, resources (SP mostly)/party management is key, tough as fuck but fair, keeps you alert all the time, very engaging!

    • @AdziGaming
      @AdziGaming  2 месяца назад +1

      So I've played a bit of SMT 4 and 5. I was interested in Nocturne but from my understanding the dungeon designs are very bland so that would turn me off it I think

    • @vinigmoura
      @vinigmoura 2 месяца назад

      @@AdziGaming I'd say the whole game is kinda bland but it is intentional, its part of the whole theme/gimmick/aesthetic, althought I agree that most dungeons could've been better, but the ones that are good ARE REALLY good! The game is more about the vibes/atmosphere I think its worth trying! Mechanicly its perfect, symmetrical, simple but deep, the only SMT game that improved on the Press Turn System formula for real was SMT IV Apocalypse (my humble and controversial opinion).
