    UPDATE!!! Y'all copyright is no joke... I've mentioned before in some of my videos that I am experimenting new ways to get around copyright claims on my videos. These reaction videos are not easy to make in all honesty, but I love the whole process and it brings me so much joy to read all your comments and see y'all enjoy them. This video in particular took me so long to prepare, film, and *especially* edit. I care about y'all and I care about this music. I want to make my videos feel like one big hang out/listening party.
    I've already trimmed a minute off my reaction to Where the Slime Live and you may notice a few periods of silence during God of Emptiness where I muted the song (depending on when the video finishes processing you may see it) to get rid of the claims. Thankfully you aren't missing too much in my audio - my face really says it all 🤣
    I apologize if this change makes your listening/watching experience a little weird. I'm doing my best and I am continuing to learn and make changes as needed so my content only continues to get better FOR Y'ALL! Thank you for reading my TedTalk, I just wanted to be transparent and to also say THANK YOU to everyone who is watching, commenting and subscribing. I love ya xx
    Stay tuned for so much more ;)

    A Swedish music journalist once said that Morbid Angel have more tempo/time changes on a single album than AC/DC have in 20 years.

    • @imaKaiya
      @imaKaiya  2 года назад +17

      This is so interesting! I believe it honestly. I was just listening to AC/DC today, and although I do like their music - the technicality of Morbid Angel is way beyond that of ACDC. I would say Death is the same way too

    • @silafuyang8675

      They didn't play a concert once because the sound wasn't exactly right for the technical aspect of their sound - they could have played, but they said they wanted to give their fans the best, so they gave them nothing - brutal, but cool. They're like a symphony

    I am a huge Morbid Angel fan, I have seen them many times live and met the band. I would not call them the godfathers of metal however, Morbid Angel are one of the godfathers of death metal along with the band Death. The godfathers of metal are Black Sabbath

    • @imaKaiya
      @imaKaiya  2 года назад +8

      Yes I agree with this too. I keep forgetting that there are different genres of metal lol. Morbid Angel was awesome to finally experience and they're definitely one of my favorites, just behind Death. I never knew Black Sabbath was considered metal until I started my metal journey. I always thought of them as just old school rock because I associated metal with thrashing, screaming, double bass (all the stuff that scares the karens) - I put them in the same category as Led Zeppelin. But oh I have learned so much 🤣 Thanks for watching!

I still remember being close to the podium when I saw them with Steve on the Gateways To Annihilation tour, and that I couldn't stop watching his hands going over the strings, it was so fast and precise, and without any mistakes. And Pete who looked like a spider when he was drumming, like he had 8 arms. Did you know that Formulas Fatal to the Flesh stands for 666? Looking forward to the next Morbid Angel video!

    If you want a more groovy death metal, i recommend Obituary. They are also from Florida and they are one of the early death metal bands, alongside Death, Morbid Angel and Autopsy. I recommend songs from their album Cause Of Death such as Infected, Body Bag, Cause Of Death, Chopped In Half and Turned Inside Out. Their album The End Complete is also amazing with songs like The End Complete, Killing Time and Im In Pain.

    Wow. I must give you all due respect for the genuinely open-minded way in which you were approaching this genre. I mean Cannibal Corpse as a first introduction is no joke. But Morbid Angel are far and away a more musically diverse entity. There are Arrangements have a undercurrent of classical music in the harmonies they choose to work around, and as you noticed David Vincent is Far and Away one of the greatest vocalist that death metal has ever produced. Not only is the tone of his voice commanding, but he really made an emphasis on articulation and the dude can sing great Melodies as well. I'm enjoying getting to know your style of reactions. I kind of thought it was going to be just exploitative and yet another PopFan making ridiculous thumbnails of their eyes blowing out Bubba blah... But you are the real deal. Cheers

    "What is this dude eating? " Well, at the time it would have been Gen from The Genitorturers. Okay... On the serious tip here ... I had commented previously on just how refreshing I was finding your reaction, but I hadn't watched the whole video yet when you got to the material from "Blessed Are The Sick" which is a game-changing record for this particular genre... Mind you, we're talkin friggin 1991, and your Deep dive into the production aspects as in the call-and-response panning to the vocals, the various manner in which they texture the interplay between the Rhythm guitars... Back and forth between the staccato picking in The Melodies that are designed to simulate fast arpeggios done on a violin... even down to the fact that you zeroed in on the more spacious room miking of the drum sound. You have 1000% real ears above and beyond however experienced you are with this particular genre. As in I'll bet you could mix the hell out of a pop song considering there is so much more spatial Dynamics in that kind of music and the tempos allow for much more breathing room. Anyway, I am commenting again because I'm just floored by the attention to detail that you are bringing to this. The little 7th chord that ends "Desolate Ways" is kind of a blues refrain, and really jumps out considering everything else prior to that is a back-and-forth between major and minor motifs . Morbid Angel were not fucking around, those guys are real musicians. Kind of a bummer that the final two songs are with a different vocalist I'm not as fond of.. No disrespect, the guy had the unenviable task of coming in after the legendary David Vincent but the first Four Morbid Angel albums are Far and Away genre redefining albums. Consider me subscribed and very very impressed.

    Blessed Are the Sick; the album cover is a fair use of the painter (my favourite) Jean Delville. It's called The Treasures of Satan: the people in hell look "lulled" and are oblivious to Satan who is actually harvesting them. The treasures of Satan are the people, so 'Satan's Treasures' might also be a good translation. Delville was kind of a mystic minded genius.

    New subscriber here and I love watching you react to some old school Death Metal that I grew up with:) Your Death reaction was the best I`ve seen:))
    There`s a lot more from that era. My suggestions are...
    Band: "Sepultura"- Song- "Arise", "Dead Embryonic Cells", "Desperate Cry"
    Band: "Pestilence"- Song - Land of Tears. (If you like Death:)))
    Some bands from my home country Sweden is Entombed, Dismember, At the Gates, Grave, Edge of Sanity, etc etc... All fantastic bands. Cheers:)))

    Great choices of songs for review. After decades of deliberation, my opinion is that World of Shit is the most intense, yet musical song they ever wrote. It might even be the best song they've ever written, but that's a tough call to make.
    (It's just too bad the guitars are so washed out in the recordings. Have a listen to some of the covers on youtube because there is so much on the record you can't hear.
    Also, you are correct about clarity of words. Morbid was so great because you could actually hear the lyrics. They were the best in every way.
