I'm currently building a hovercraft & found your videos as part of my research. I'm very glad I did: I've learned lots from them & you have confirmed that I'm on the right tracks with many of the design decisions I'd made.
I also love the idea of using the gyro to stabilise the steering.
    Great work, thank you!

Hey, how's your project coming along.
I have a dream to build one also.
Would love to see your project

@TriniFirst It turned out great thanks. Worked well on both land and water.
The most important thing I learned was how to shape the joins in the skirt. Without that info, I doubt I would have ever got it right.
I don't have any pics or video published of it though, unfortunately.
Go for it. It's a lot of fun and rewarding!

I can't wait to see this running. What size motors batteries and EDF are you going to be using?

Hello, all the details can be found on my instructables page,
      www.instructables.com/id/Radio-Controlled-Electric-Hovercraft/
the EDF's are 65mm units from BigDotUncleStore
      www.bigdotunclestore.com/product_detail.php?id=180
and i use a 11.1V 5000Mah Lipo for the rear fans and a 11.1 3000Mah for the lift and control circuit.

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, 12 hour night shift hasn't helped! i have just uploaded the 3rd video of the hovercraft build,
      ruclips.net/video/IMMamzXt7Ak/видео.html
the EDF's are 65mm diameter and driven using a 30Amp ESC, both rear fans are supplied from one 5000mAh 11.1V Lipo. The front lift fan is powered from a 2000mAh 11.1V lipo again using a 30Amp ESC. The front/lift EDF is only driven at very low speeds, it doesn't need to go any faster to provide the required lift.
The full build and details of the motors can be found on my instructables page.

Always wanted to build a hovercrasft but its the skirt that has always put me off it
This video makes it look easy but the maths involved is beyond me
Nice to see that you get your children involved in your projects.

The PDF should help with all the measurements you need, but i have to be honest i struggled with this! if you cant open the PDF on instructables then i have put it here.

Thanks already saved as much information i could to my pc ready for when i can afford to start building it
Maths was never my best subject which is why i prefer templates as makes like a lot easier.
I can sew but dont have a sewing machine

I am collecting all the bits to build this machine. The only thing I am missing is the skirt templates. Could you email me the pdf versions, please? That would be much appreciated.

Is it possible to get a full size cut out copy that you are using sent to me in the post. I have been looking at the diagram that you have done and all I see is a lot of number's in degree's. Math's was not a thing I could understand and still don't on something's even to-day. If I had the template already done it would help great. Thank you. I can send my address in messenger when notified on here.

@@mrfid72 I will try the CAD file, have just brought an Ender 3V2 3D printer and can load the files on this. Thank you

@@mrfid72 Sorry I asked for CAD files, it should have been PDF, then you can scan it to full size on an A4 sheet of paper , once I have printed it out this end I can paste it onto a stiff piece of card for cutting out the skirt. Thank you very much
