I paid $2.05 a Watt for a 8KW system installed in Las Vegas and that included all equipment, fee, taxes and Labor and after the federal rebate the final cost was $12,136 or $1.52 per watt .... The equipment installed was top notch Panasonic Panels, Enphase IQ7 inverters and Enphase gateway.!

My neighbors just had solar installed. Their house is probably 1200 sq. ft and they have maybe 24 panels. They got a new roof out of the deal (probably$4000) and paid close to $50,000. They got ripped off. Plus they have a huge tree in their backyard that shades the back panels that the solar co. was supposed to trim back.

I wish people would quit including the tax credit as if it was going to reduce the cost of your system. It does no such thing, it only reduces your tax liability that you might owe. If you are doing your deductions right, you shouldn't ever have to owe that amount in the first place. If you plan for it, you could do some fun math and reduce your deductions at the beginning of the year and add that extra $$ to your loan, but this "money" from the gov does not go directly into your pocket. It does not benefit those that are also lower income.

While I agree with you regarding how companies leverage the federal tax credit for sales, it is different from doing an itemized deduction. Deductions decrease your taxable amount while credits decrease the total tax owed after deductions are taken and the income is taxed.

My DIY with top materials (full AC/DC protection, Sofar Solar Inverter, etc) range from 0,7 to 0,4$/W. 3$/W is a very BAD number...

Solar panels stink boo. Put them on an RV out in the middle of the desert that’s where they belong. Or put them on the shopping center parking lot that’s where they belong your insurance won’t go up high if you live close to the fire department. Fire departments don’t like going on roof with solar . My opinion only,
