Silloth is a Ladies British Open course, haven’t played it in a long time, looks in great condition. But don’t be deceived on a windy day, like any links course it has the ability to destroy even the best golfer! Combine a trip to Silloth with a game at Carlisle (ex British Open Regional qualifying Course) and you will get the contrast of a good Parkland course, all in some of the cleanest air in England 🏴
Superb course, top 20 I think in England, drive up from Wigan at least twice a year and just £490 last I looked for a full 7 day membership!! About the best value for money there is!
Hi golf mates. I've just joined the Golf Mates face book page (Peter Hagerty) and just want to say if you haven't joined the page yet don't hang about and get on board. What a good laugh some of the posts are but what stands out the most for me is that it's a true community of golfers all becoming mates. Well done Liam and to everyone involved with the Golf Mates phenomenon 🏌🏌🏌🏌
Glad you found this hidden gem Liam. Me and my mates used to play soup and a sandwich 4 balls on the Lancashire coast courses all winter ending in Silloth at the end of April. We always thought it was stunning and when the wind blows a real challenge.
i live only 15 mins from the course so i know the area well. little anecdote about the church steeple you mentioned liam ---- in the classic film THE DAMBUSTERS when the lancaster bombers were taking off at dusk that is the steeple that is in the background --- nowt to do with golf but a fact is always a fact
Pleased to see you make the trip north. Silloth is a beaut! Play it twice on consecutive days, and you'll play two different courses as the wind is brutal up there! I've lived close to Silloth all my life and been lucky enough to be spoiled by what it has to offer. Thanks for putting it all back into a visitors perspective! All the best Liam!
Went up there for new year. Great place. Forgot the clubs though. Very warm and welcoming folk up there. New Year’s Day karaoke in the pub at 2 pm absolutely rammed. 👍🏼👍🏼
just a look at the flag pole, and tee, unmistakable Siloth!! got that before you spoke... what a place... the 9th par 3... what a hard hole when its blowing a hoolie...
Nothing better than finding and playing a new course especially when it links. Not played any golf in the England but thats another one to add to the list.
I grew up in silloth and this is where I started learning to play. fantastic course and what I'm sure everyone who has played there would call a hidden gem! Next time you're out that way you should try brampton. it's one of the most undulating courses I've ever seen in the uk
1 minute in and I'm thinking this is what I like, absolute nuts stuff ! Get in the car and drive to the coast, love it ! Silloth is well known Liam. Try Seascale too, its drivable from Bolton and you go over some narrow roads over the tops ! Mind the sheep, better not take Barlow with you ! The course is great and on a nice day the view is amazing.
What a beautiful golf course. I noticed that your swing is looking much better!! Not so forced...more fluid and you are making better contact with the ball. Can't wait to see you get back some of those Fivers from Mr. Barlow!!! 😂😂😂😂😂🏌️♂️🏌️♂️🏌️♂️🏌️♂️
Played it 2 years ago, fell in love with it. The drone footage is brilliant, loved every hole. Nice clubhouse with old world charm. Golf hotel did a nice meal too. Cheers Liam for posting
If you ever want to stay in a holiday home by this golf course, feel free to check out seagreen view! A 5 bed luxury holiday home. Check it out on Sykes cottages, or on facebook if you want a cheaper price from us xxxx
Excellent course pal, played it a few times, looks like you were lucky tho as if it's windy it's nails, couple more gems down the road in Maryport and Workington 👍👍
Glad you came to Silloth, not played it for years but remember it as a cracking course. I will have to go back one day, it's only down the road from me. Course will be greener because Silloth gets the benefit of the Gulf Stream, the town has palm trees growing, in Cumbria lol.
Played it in driving rain and wind. Still was a fantastic experience. Great Course. Try Southerness on the other side of the Estuary. A fantastic course that one as well.
What a great course - I used to live in Greysouthen and played Silloth as often as I could! Try out Maryport and Seascale, both are very fun and challenging. Cockermouth has a nice course as well.
I had the pleasure of playing Silloth many years ago as a junior in their Junior Open. Fabulous course. Understand why it’s in the top 100 courses in the UK. ⛳️😃👍🏻
Liam-SMASHING Course! It will definitely go on the UK/Scotland Bucket List for when I come over from America! Watch UR video and see the difference between UR driver and iron swings; they are clearly different. Iron swing is coming nicely and slightly inside to out as we all want. The driver swing was looping outside to in. GREAT video!! Brian
Liam, I played Siloth about 18 months ago with 3 mates, absolutely loved it. Played 36 holes and got 40 points in the morning and 41 in the afternoon off 13, best I’ve ever played, absolutely loved the place. Try Southerness across the Solway Firth near Dumfries. Another hidden gem. 20 of us playing there in September 👍
Great little gem of a course. Here where I live in the U.S. the courses are still mostly brown but the greens and tee areas are still green. The entire course at Silloth is green. Matter of fact, all the courses "across the pond" are green. A little cool but what beauties you have. See you in Orlando
So glad that you got there at last Liam. Now you need to tick off Southerness and Stranraer. Have played Silloth, Carlisle, Brampton or Powfoot every year for the last 15 yrs. on a little trip. Can't speak highly enough about all of them. Loads of Open comps at Brampton and Powfoot. Give them all a go Golf Mates. You will love them.
Fabulous course, but do go and play it in the wind...................its brutal. Stayed at the Golf Hotel, and went to the Rafa club (Bar from Star Wars), great night, what a laugh we had.
Great course, played it quite a few times.Right over the water is Southerness another classic which is a ball ache to get to.But both courses are real gems and well worth the affort.
Classic Liam, nice looking course, with some nice looking golf shots, enjoyed the incorrect yardage display for each hole, Elton John and Arthur Scargill puns.....made me smile just as much as you did while filming at this cracking course.
a course that can finish you as a golfer in the first 6 holes ,,,,thats usually the easy bit coming in , the holes where you play out to the estuary can make you cry on the wrong day, its a beast ...
Visited this course 4 years ago as I was just starting to play golf. A client of mine was a member there and I walked as he played from the blue championship tees. I was blown away by it as I'd never seen a course like it. I vowed to revisit to play it myself one day. I can see exactly why you fell in love with it Liam, maybe a Golfmates Autumn trip?? 😉
Hi Liam. Had my most amazing experience at Silloth GC. Was playing in a local Northern PGA Pro Am as part of the Cumbria Classic event. The Professional I was playing with was a good friend of ours ( will not name him by name ) he was playing some amazing golf at the time and on the day he shot a gross 60 !! Which consisted of 2 Eagles, 8 Birdies & 8 Pars. Have yet to see a better round of golf in all my years of playing. As always a great genuine video from yourself.
Had a little trip with some golf mates up there played windermere stayed over in whitehaven then played siloth, 2 great courses played crap and dave Mulvey had the dreaded shanks, great video nice one
Silloth, great course. Played with a very dear friend in an open there and birdied 16 to win a couple of sleeves of golf balls. Here’s 3 more brilliant course that are a bit out of the way. Macrhanish near Cambeltown, Kintyre. Royal Dornoch north of Inverness. Seaton Carew near Hartlepool. Also just thought of Saunton in Devon. All these course are just too much out of the way to host a big tournament but they have the quality and the challenge!
Course looks in great condition for England in the winter. Beautiful holes. Much better than where I play. Hit a decent drive and it plugs in the mud on many holes.
Just joined up with golf mates and after watching a lot of your videos I must say they are great. Nice to watch your 3 main characters and the Pro giving great tips. Keep up the great work. Stan.
Good video Liam. I have played it several times over many years. It is a great course and a hidden gem. However my favourite little known course is Goswick in Northumberland. Great scenery, not crowded and a very difficult links course. They let you play off the medal tees as well. Certainly worth a visit
Great video!! Me and my family have just opened a holiday home behind the golf course so we know how good it is! Gonna share this video on our Facebook xxxx
Hi Liam , I have played silloth a few times you did well to catch it on a calm day. You should play it when it's really blowing , I assure you that you won't play to your handicap. But you will have a lot of fun, quality course up there with the best
I hope you played the full course Liam...that place is awesome!!! Some stunning views, brilliant holes and what a welcome in the clubhouse. We played it last year, were super fortunate with the weather so I think we saw it at its best. I bet in the wind and rain it would be an absolute bear!
Played there on my birthday back in September. Weather forecast said 0mph wind but was still 2 clubs hahaha. Great course and was about £40 if I remember
Absolutely one of the most beautiful courses I have seen..it would definitely make you want to play forever...we don't have courses like this in the U.S...I am stunned!!
Liam I played there about 4 years ago it’s a really good course it was summer time but very windy but a fantastic test of golf and In superb condition, the food in the clubhouse was top notch as well and everyone was so friendly. Well done everyone at the GC. 👍👍
I've played Silloth twice all be 10+ years ago, it's an absolutely cracking course. If you get in the heather in can be brutal and the wind can be ferocious( I hit 3 wood 350 yards with a prevailing gale). It's always in great condition and i believe membership is very reasonable for such a quality course, well worth a visit. With regard to the Cleveland clubs i'd seriously consider getting fitted for a set, you hit them so much better than anything else you've used recently.
@@GolfMates Liam, It's a no brainer if you look at OMP , The Dick and Josh you haven't got near taking a £5 off them since they all got fitted. It's time to fight fire with fire and take the money back lol

Played Silloth twice as a junior (I'm now 71) got my handicap cut both times. Fantastic course but I was lucky as there was virtually no wind on both occasions.
