Found your channel when I was researching Carnivore a few days before I got started. Today is day 19 for me, so I'm about a week and a half behind you and started at 306 lbs, but things are going well. Got below 290 for the first time this morning. Your daily videos are sort of an "accountability" step for me too - "if Brett's still going strong, I can too!" So thanks for posting them!
Glad all is well. Im having an issue where I'm showing no keytones. My wife is showing around 3. I'm losing weight and staying on the diet but no keytones. Strange. I'm 19 days in myself.
When you say you're showing none, is that based on blood or urine strips? I have heard about the strips not being very accurate. I use a KetoMojo blood meter for glucose and Ketones.
@@kellyweb if you can afford it I would suggest a meter. They are not that expensive and the KetoMojo does Ketone and Sugar. Might be worth it to have that data to compare to your food and activity habits.
@kellyweb my understanding is that not everyone's biology is the same....there are apparently people who CANT get into full ketosis.....I believe there's been clinical studies showing this. Furthermore the reason "carnivore/keto" works is because it eliminates refined modern food and tends to also cut calories... There is no reason whatsoever for you to avoid natural, unrefined plants...including berries and fruits and sweet potatoes...
Just coffee and water Friday through Wednesday. On Thursday I allow myself some bourbon. Fircthe coffee it is either black or a little cream. I did butter a few times and may try it again now that I have the better tasting butter.
Question...have you had any fast heartbeats? I woke last night with hard fast heartbeats. Today i got more magnesium and potassium so hopefully that wont happen again tonight.
I have not noticed any fast heartrates. Do you have a good way to monitor and track your heart rate throughout the day/night? After my stroke in 2022 I started to use a Polar HR monitor to track my heart for about a month.
@@Bretdajet I don't. I looked it up this morning and supposedly it happens a lot when people just start keto or carnivore. They say its due to electrolyte imbalance. I hate avacado and pumpkin seeds today to see it it helps.
I use a ketone/glucose meter called Keto Mojo. It is fairly affordable considering what I am trying to do. Solid phone app to sync the data and you can also view it on a computer browser.
@@rockcrazygal5166 I got mine from Amazon. IT is pretty simple and does not seem to be too painful or cause issues drawing the blood from a finger prick. amzn.to/4ac9IqG
@@Bretdajet your response was patient and kind! Congratulations on your weight loss. I am doing a keto-esque food plan and losing water... electrolytes are a game changer. To those on MD prescribed diuretics like Hydrochlorothiazide, please stop taking it. These low carb diets are natural diuretics (ask MD first though. I feel much better just cutting carbs, but keto is great. They give ketogenic diets to Pedi patients to abate epilepsy!!! It works
@MeliYAH09 Thank you for the response. I am not on any meds now. I stopped everything about 3 months after my stroke in July 2022. The 'doctor' could not explain why I was on them other than that it was normal protocol. I need to reset my body composition scale because it gives me an estimated amount of fat, muscle, bone, and water.
You think that "carnivore" eat "cheese"? Lst time i checked, cheese and butter were fairly.modern human inventions....they were invented way after agriculture got started....so we have been eating plants way longer than butter or cheese.
A true carnivore would not eat cheese. That said, I am not a true carnivore. I am following a carnivore based diet and I include things that come from animals. Primarily dairy products come from animals so I include it. True carnivores did not distil and drink bourbon, but I do once a week.
@@Bretdajet humans aren't true carnivores....humans are primates...all primates are omnivores....and humans DO need more protein than the other primates....but...we also need and have always eaten plants.
@ghost9-9ghost I fully understand that humans have eaten plants for our recorded history. We have also eaten animals. That said years ago people decided that eating only plant matter worked well for them. That is not something I could ever try or even understand. Going carnivore or close to it also did not make sense to me but I could understand it. I love meat. So after looking into it and reading lab results people have had it sounded like something I wanted to try. For me it is working. Of course the removal of everything but meat, eggs, and a little cheese required me to figure out how to get some nutrients I was missing. I am close to having that all figured out and I am losing weight and feeling great. If sharing my activities and results can help other people I am happy for them. Doing this channel is certainly helping me.

Good to see you, and your progress is great. I am doing well and look forward to your daily video. Cpaps are the worst! One of my "whys".
Good job man! Your gonna feel incredible woth the weight off!
It is already starting to feel better. Loving it.
Keep up the excellent work, Brett 🎉
Thank you.
Im excited to follow your journey.
Glad to have you here.
Thanks for the Shared Knowledge⭐😎👍....Cheers....
Always happy to share good info.
Glad to hear you're getting your salt intake dailed in for you. You are the expert in your n=1 experiment!
It has been tough when it is such a individual thing. It amazes me that I blindly believed the FDA recommended values for so long.

You didn’t mention how much weight you lost over 30 days. Waste of time!
I have a total lose of 27 after 30 days. 28 now after 31.
It was 27 lb total loss after 30 days. Start of day 31 and I am now 29 lbs down from 332.6 lbs.
