I saw her tonight and she played this piece as an encore....I was fourth row right in front of her...thrill of a life time.... seeing her tomorrow also in an ensemble.... I'm so happy this weekend!!!!
Flawless? get your ears checked mate. What is the matter with you people? Don't you recognise an off-key note? There were many! Not bad, but certainly not "flawless"
@@NareHarryI was wondering if there was something wrong with my hearing. When everyone was praising this performamce, I was cringing at every out of pitch note - and there were one too many - keeping me in uncomfortable suspense till she was done with it. I have performamed this on classical guitar which, for good or for bad, has no intonation problem due to frets.
My mom who doesn’t even like classical music texted me from downstairs saying how “amazing” this sounds. Normally when I play classical music she pretends to hang herself to get on my nerves lol 😅
Phenomenal and appropriate interpretation ....she received a Kennedy honors also. She is a wonderful educator and advocate for music building bridges. Thank you for posting Midori.
I haven't heard anyone interpret it like like this before, it sounds very sweet! I love how controlled the softs are where there are usually fortissimos, very cool sound :)))
The original is so exciting and this is beautiful but it is worth while listening to some of the arrangements for Keyboard, and Jaques Loussier's Trio [Play Bach] is worth a visit. Every facet of these arrangement sheds light on a great work
Maybe your ears are sharp? I did not think she's sharp. I found her performance to be wonderful! Do you listen to much classical, romantic, or baroque music? Her tuning is perfect. I found her performance to be nothing less than near perfection! I certainly could not do any better and I doubt you could either. She has studied many tedious hours to bring an excellent performance of the prelude, nevermind the entire piece of music, to the table for us to enjoy. Music is much more of an artform than it is an absolute science. She is perfectly in E major (and any related keys such as A major) and has achieved excellence in her truely awesome performance of one of the greatest masters of counterpoint to have ever lived of this earth. Today's standards of tuning (think of tuning a piano in equal temperament) are simply not the same as Bach would have used when he was performing. Bach used temperaments such as well temperament and other tuning based off of the harmonic series. The tunings Bach used did not evenly distribute the comma brought upon by the circle of fifths. Physics simply does not allow for perfect beatless intervals within a piece of music. Equal temperament seeks to distribute the comma evenly, across the entire octave. By saying her "tuning is really sharp", I think you mean to say that your ears are not accustomed to the tuning that she is using. She is perfectly in tune, and I believe that Bach would be exhilarated by her mastery of the prelude. I hope this reply finds your day to be well. All the best, JP
@@GrandPianoGamer Don't get me wrong. She IS wonderful as always. I am fully aware of what you have said, and, YES, it is exactly what I mean. She is not genuinely tuning sharp if you measured the Hertz...

Flawless. I still to this day have some of Midori's earliest CD's. She's one of the best violinists of my time.

@@NareHarryin music it's not only about the intonation
@@NareHarry The intonation lacks the accuracy she had when she was younger, but the interpretation is sensitive and intelligent
