One has to remember, that both the KF51, and the Chally, are made for 2 different doctrines, afaik the Chally is mainly meant to support infantry, whereas the KF51/Leopards are more meant to go for long range engagements and generally sees stealth as the first layer of defense, and also using ridgelines to expose as little as possible. Both the Leopard/KF51, and the Chally, compliment eachother.
The way I see it, they are two very good tanks. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. What matters to me is that we are on the same side and we build better, more combat-ready and safer tanks.
Four crew members are better than two Tanks take lots of maintenance to keep them battle worthy. As well as camming up in hides. Interchangeable skills from Commanders, operators, gunners to Drivers. Technology aside an MBT is only as good as the support it has and the professionalism of the crew. Kinetic round for your thoughts is the APFSDS Armour Piercing Fin Stabilising Discarding Sabot. Velocity 1860 mtrs per sec 👍
Any MBT that doesn't have jammers, improved top armor, improved ammo for assaulting fix areas, decrease weight and heat from being spotted as well as easier to trained and mass produce for the use in a possible major conflict is going to be as useless as tanks as the west sent to Ukraine for their first flop like in 2023. But to be fair later things were improved tactically and mounted on them like the Leos 2 but so far the worse of the worse was the Challenger by far.
Fire power the KF51 protection the Challenger 3 ,but the Challenge has the new NATO size turret ring . This is not a new conception but due to the reduced numbers of Tank manufacturers this option has taken a step forward . By this I mean the new French advanced MBT a cooperation with Rhinemetle who had a hand in the Challenger 3 it uses the same size turret ring . So in the future if the Challenger or the French new MBT need to upgrade there gun to a 130 or 140 which is being made the KF51 which has a auto loader because of the size and weight of the 130 munitions a human can not load them efficiently so the same would be said for the newer 140 gun so these three tanks pluss the Leopard has the same turret rings . So in the future a turret swap can be made so a Challenger 3 can have the KF51 with eather a 130 or 140 gun .as for ammunition for the Challenger 3 with the L55 gun it can use all NATO ammunition from Germany and Amarica pluss newer ammunition from Korea ref the Korean Black Panther including the new Polish version
The Challenger 3 is on the Same technical Status Like the Leopard 2a7 or a7+. Both have small differences. Challenger is more heavy and really well protected at the front but with only 1200hp not so agile. Leopard is much more dynamic. The new Leopard 2a8 got some more Features Like the Trophy APS etc.. But finally Challenger 3 is really good and Up-to-Date Tank. The Panther is a complete new development with some skills for the Battlefield of 2030ff. But actual we had only see the Demonstrator. We will see in 2 years which Tank finally the Panther really will be. Italy and hungary will use them. So I think, it will be a really next Generation Tank but we have to wait.
Dont Worry, the Callanger is getting that Upgrade too later. I know already some details, so dont give up on the Challanger. The Tank is still great. Btw. that Shape from the Panther in Front, is from the Challanger 2, Rheinmetall made it only a litle bit sharper angle to get more armor out of it becouse the angle. If you look at the Challanger 2 Front Penetration Armor, it is already high, only the Angle on the Panther made him better. Becouse that i think Challenger 2 is still a great tank. He can use a litle hill in cover to have the same angle like the new Panther. The only think is, Challenger 2 is not Protected when he Rush or Drive becouse that angle. Speed and angle makes the Panther Dangerous for the Enemy. And the other thing is The Fire Rate and the 130 mm gun. I would say, Goodnight opponents. Dont even try to Fight the Panther. To Fast in 2 ways, and to much Protection. oh i have forgot to say, its not shure if they make it but, the 130 mm gun can be put on the Challenger 2 too without no problem. Even the Ammo Storrage and AutoLoading system is included.
All 148 of them? Christ wept, the current Challenger 2 is not even up to the Leopard 2 A8 standard. No new Challengers are being built and those in service will not last forever. British delusion
@@apistodiscus 😅 again, dont give up C2. im btw. from Germany German Army and whe love the name of the Challenger 2 tank and also the power he has when whe drive in Teams. Yes, in Teams. If you sit in a Leo and there is another Tank Support, what about that ? i tell you, the seccont one is bad. I cant tell you exactly why, 😊 but beleve mee, it is.
@Bauramiboring there will be only 148 of them. That's it. No more will be produced. It's an exercise in futility. The British being too stubborn to buy a new model from abroad, but no longer have the industrial ability to produce any tanks. The decision to procure the Challenger 2 was a purely political one. The British army wanted the Leopard 2 at the time. There is a reason why only the UK and Oman operate the model but 16 countries use the Leopard 2. There will be no more major upgrades to the Challenger and numbers are just too low to be of any significance.

The gap between the body and turret on the Panther is too open specially against drone munitions, with it being at an angle the munition will be channeled into its weak spot. The challenger is proven and we've just made it even better, as you said looks doesn't mean its better. Regarding range of the barrels is academic, we have other weapon systems that can do the job.
The gap between boddy and Turret is no Problem. Even a direct Hit wouldnt make any Damage. And the other thing is, i tking they didnt say it in the Video but, there is a Automated Gun on the Panther called "Natter". The Panther has 360° Protection radar in different ways not only one Radar. The "Natter" Gun can be used in Automatic Protection mode or Manual. It is not made for the Drone Protection, but it is Highly efective against them. The Tests are finished and the result is almost 100 % reaction and efect Protection. If the Gun has Ammo, dont even try to hit. The Automation is Sharp as hell. Its btw. the same reaktion time like the Skyranger System and "i think " it is the same System but not shure.
Cant undertand why they have created the gap at the front, its well known that angled armour can deflect shells but to channel a projectile between the turret and the front body?
that design is well known from the Leopard. everyone told the same BS like you, when the Leopard was upgraded with this design. It is using it about 30years now. very old discussion. if it would not work it would not be the most popular export tank in the world. case closed.
it is cost efficient to make another upgrade. the challanger will not get high production numbers because it is not a popular export model. you will need the money for other important things in the british army.
the question from the thumbnail is pointless. in no possible reality challanger tanks could dominate the battlefields because no one is going to buy it. but british imperial dreams last for ever.
It doesn't matter which of the two is better, as long as they play on the same team, everything is fine :)

So basically both challengers use german main guns ^^
15:00 BtW, 130mm rounds are heavy enough that you need an autoloader, so I guess you cannot fit it into the Challenger.

Very interesting that a German company building most of German mobile infantry also upgrades the British MBT. Didn't expect that move...
