my favorite drummer of all time of any music... genius in his raw simplicity yet complex in his feel for the rhythm...
Its funny, I am deeply into music and of course have my favorite drummers, but this guy had SUCH a sound and time. I am shocked he is not listed as one of the greats. He sure should be.
the best possible summary
Agreed!!!!
I can play bass i love nirvana, deep purple, bob Marley, Peter tosh, cream, foo fighters,ecc... 😊🎸
Unbelievably unsung,
I bought countless records because Carly was on drums, I couldn’t get enough of his legendary rolls, also his one strike rimshot always uniquely placed and of course the poetic hi hats spiritually tickling away. The greatest . R.I.P Carly
A really good way to put it. Same here.
This is the song "Waiting in Vain". This is just simply sweet.
The difference between the louder and softer (to the softest) High Hat notes is profound and the music wouldn't be the same without it. ACCENTS!!! Can't be said enough how much difference it makes, in all music, even 'ergonomically' giving more or less energy in this manner to rhythms will help give it a 'swing' and life of it's own
Got damn those hi hats sound crispy
I grew up in the 70s i know carlie that was what we call him my favorite jamaican and drumer.
Time, taste, subtlety, originality, musicality, and it seems so deceptively simple. But it's not simple. That's why he was the best.
Exactly, the beat may sound simple, but timing is everything. Pure riddim!!
Perfect taste dry could not agree more extremely extremely underrated sadly so. What a monster...in a good way obviously😎
What a legend
Once you figure out how to do the drop best correctly you'll never be able to stop playing it. It's simple sounding, but it takes time to learn it right. But when you get it....
That’s so trueee I honestly can’t stop playing the one drop
Love carlton barrrett..One of the greatest reggae drummers of all time, Thx for posting and sharing!

master of space, time & groove!
Cara, esse Carlton Barrett era um Van Gogh na bateria. Ele fazia lindas artes na batera.
No man flew so high as to appear a God as this man, Carlton Barrett, whose rhythmic perfection put nature to shame.

Dumb
Casi no se habla de él pero también fue piesa importante en el grupo los wailers
This was done with a drum machine
@@futuresoundz4269 Are you joking?
@@mickyrhythmvendorI read that they used a drum machine for this song. Carly made a comment that it will be the death of drummers.
@futuresoundz4269 I've never heard that before. No Woman No Cry was done originally with a drum machine but not heard that about Waiting In Vain
Slow .... :)
