Crying over The Beatles’ new song😭

Yes, I am crying over The Beatles😭…A few weeks ago, Siegfried and I finally watched ‪@TheBeatles‬ documentary ‘Get Back’ (I KNOW, I KNOW, we are late to the game, but the 8 hour run-time seemed daunting.) I’ve always loved and respected The Beatles…my parents are British and always played them in the house when I was growing up. (I would even steal my dad’s CDs and listen to them on the way to school.) But the Fab Four were sort of these untouchable music icons in old, grainy pictures to me…
Watching ‘Get Back’ transported me to the 60s and made me feel like we were in the studio with them! I was transfixed and couldn’t take my eyes off John Lennon, in particular. The footage was SO clear, the sound was SO good and they were so…normal! It was fantastic seeing them working on songs together and getting excited when their ideas began to form. As a musician, I know that is the best feeling in the world and I couldn’t help but get excited with them! I especially enjoyed watching John Lennon talk casually to some people in the studio as McCartney is in the background playing the beginnings of what would later become ‘Let It Be’. At the end of the doc, I felt like they were all my friends and I was really sad that it was over.💜
The next day, we watched the short documentary about the new Beatles song ‘Now and Then’ followed by the music video. You already know that I cried.😅 (There were snot rockets and everything!) And I thought I had finally gotten over all this and could finally just ENJOY the song when Siegfried told me they found the original tape for ‘Now and Then’ in one of John’s boxes labeled “For Paul.”💔
I think The Beatles would have gotten back together and made more music and I’m sad that it didn’t happen in the way we would expect. But, I am happy I finally sat down and watched ‘Get Back.’ Peter Jackson is a legend for making this and I should have known that the director of LOTR could do this to me.😭😭😭
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to listen to ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ for the 1000th time!
