Refreshingly open tutorial...you don’t take it for granted that viewers have any experience with similar tech, making this massively accessible. So rare, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
This tutorial is exactly what I needed. Not many tutorials out there start from the very basics of how to use this machine. Thank you for making this video!
SO happy to hear. Thanks for watching!!
really intersting...I think this will be the def thing to make me chose towards Rytm 2
Yeah I think this is the best breakdown of Elektron sequencing. It really helped me to understand.
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Thanks Eric, while I'm not new to Elektron, it's great to have a refresher and cool to see how quickly you were able to get a great beat going with Euclidean, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking it out.
Great video. Very informative. Your explanation of the Elektron lineup is the first I’ve heard that makes sense. Do you have a walkthrough of how to use division in the sequencer?
Dudeeee, that was a super great watch, your pace, reasoning and approach were super easy to digest and made that hour fly past. Great stuff man.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for confirming that locking something to scale, will now also quantize the pitch to scale. As you mentioned this has been something that's been requested a lot by the community, and I have t seen anyone else mention it. This gives me hope that this will be implemented in the Syntakt and other elektron gear.
Hey! Unfortunately that was incorrect. I was just lucky to hit the right notes. After further tests, it is not quantized to scale yet. I edited that part out of the video. In my live stream on the RYTM today, I'll talk more about it. Thanks for tuning in
and diving into Euclidian mode and new machines my favorite is the HH Lab to create unique high hats! I am still trying to understand how the various oscillators behave on the HH Lab machine@@SURCOlive
Great work Eric. If someone on YT knows more about Electron units than you, I’ve not seen them. (Got Euclidean mode on my Toraiz Squid)
Nice tutorial
Thanks man!
amazing tutorial! i've had a syntakt for a few months & just picked up a digitone & digitakt. i love the elektron workflow, it suits my creative process well. even though i have familiarity w/sequencer, i still picked up a lot of cool tricks & perspective from your video. thanks again!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching!
This is an excellent resource and reference. Watched three times. Thanks for putting out such a thorough and thoughtful walkthrough.
Awesome! I’m so glad you got something from it. Thanks for watching!!
Very clear tutorial. Extremely helpful. Well done, thank you! (You should watch your input levels, though, or is this all time all in distortion deliberate 😂)
Great walkthrough of the sequencer, thanks!
Great!!!!
My AR II comes now to New Life.
Clear, concise, and thorough as always. Today is my first day with a borrowed rytm, though I have used one before pre-update, and I'm seriously considering slimming my performance setup down to rytm/octa and setting the 3 digis on the shelf. Euclidian is blowing my mind!
Thanks Eric, great explanation to this beast! I would be much interested in a masterclass from you as well! Thank you
amazing tutorial thank u!
We need Euclidean for the A4 too. I hope they are working and releasing it soon.
Am sure they will. Be silly not to. They are likely wanting to milk the Rytm stock and once the curve drums out on that they’ll release the other, to stave off anyone making it a decision between two flagships; see?
@@Hysteric_Subjects Your analysis makes sense, i personally see both as one system sold in 2 halves so it is ‘easier’ on the pocket to start off 😅
Good clear discussion of the Elektron sequencer, thanks.
amazing tutorial! now i'm off to make more music with my elektron boxes. thank you!
Have fun!
Thanks a lot for this infovideo😊 keep on working, really like your stuff on the Elektron product
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
my first experience using euclidean.. i may have never figured out these tricks you've discovered in relation to the Elektron workflow 🤯🤯
It’s super fun. My favorite type of sequencer. Thanks for watching!
Very well explained. Thank you Surco!
My pleasure!
I really enjoy your explained videos still waiting for rumble tutorial 😉
Coming soon! Check out the live stream later today too. :) Glad you like the videos. THanks so much for watching!!!!
@@SURCOlive ok I will check out thx 🙏 keep rockin greetz from Germany
What a great video
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Very interesting video! Have to watch it more times to wrap my head around the new functionalities 😅 👍by the way cool beat !!
I recently found out how to sequence chords on the digitone using the Grid Sequencer. Because it is polyphonic it works a bit differently to the regular note trigs.
Amazing video - thank you!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot! It was soo informative.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
It’s nice to have a channel doing such a good content.
I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak.
I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds.
When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap.
I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power.
In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with.
What would be your suggestion?
Thank you!
Hey! Glad you are enjoying the content. For my personal experience the RYTM is my number one favorite for making drum sounds. It’s amazing to have that layering power in one box with the resampling. I love Syntakt as a 12 voice mono synth and the Digitakt as a one shot sample player. I never find myself designing drums on either, but I do with the RYTM all the time. This is for me, so your needs may be different. The good news is that they are all awesome machines so no wrong choice! Thanks for watching!
Oh hey man. Gosh it's been awhile. I subbed in 2022 summer. Anyway I do have the a4 mk1. Its sequencing the pro 1 by Behringer and 2600. Its how I write basslines or riffs. I've used it since the update.
Very helpful tutorial thanks
Thanks so much for watching!
Superb!
Popcorn and notepad ready 🍿
Amazing thks for sharing!!!!
My pleasure!! Thanks for watching Toff!
Good stuff and the new Euclidian sequencer mode is a bit confusing.
Do you think they will make a new rytm soon? Or should I buy the mk2
I don’t think there will be a new Rytm, but part of me hopes they make a new one with the screen and buttons of the mk2 in the form factor of the mk1. :)
Pass-the-god-damm-butter! I've tried for weeks to understand the polymeter vs polyrhythm thing, and finally the penny dropped watching this video so many thanks :) My old Mk1 is reawakening thanks to Elektron's amazing update to you & @EZBOT - one question if you don't mind; What's your swing value with your Elektron gear? Is it different for each unit? Do you just set & forget? Use it as a performance tool? And lastly do you know the Elektron equivalent for the esoteric TR-909 shuffle 2?
Heh sorry that's 5 questions... but one answer would be great cheers :)
Yeah that pattern almost broke my head. :) I don’t usually mess with swing much unless I feel something needs it. I build variation in other ways like lfos on velocity or using micro timing (but only when I produce not live) thanks for watching!
Subscription thing hit 👍🏽
Maestro
Great video Surco!! Thanks so much. Does this latest update provide scale quantization on trig page, when tweaking notes?
Not with the knob but you can use the quantized pads while holding down a trig which is actually even faster.
Nice, thank you!!
@@SURCOlive
Triggers with probability is actually lack of control. If instead one actually controls/arranges every note, then that is control of arrangement and composition.
I would argue that they are shades of gray. Controlling the conditional probability of every note provides a lot of control without absolute control. This allows for semi-random variation much the same way that pressing a velocity sensitive key or hitting a drum does. In my opinion control is not absolute but rather a spectrum to be explored as part of the music making process. Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!
Tnx tnx tnx tnx very very very nice nice nice
Mr. Eric, i've a huge cuestion. I have the digi trinity (digitakt, digitone and syntakt) i need your advice, is it necesary to get analog rythm, analog four and octa machine? Or with those boxes i have it all. THANKS
Hey Hector. There is no ‘need’ for any of the other machines. You have everything to make awesome music. That said, each of the others do things that the digi boxes don’t. A lot depends on what type of music you are making. They are each really great at what they do. Thanks so much for watching!!
i bought one today and sadly this is not helpful to me, maybe i should start by the basics. i dont really see what you are pressing and i stuck by the sequenzer, cant even force it to play
Here is a good started guide for you to use to get the basics: ruclips.net/video/DhqaBjTdFDA/видео.htmlsi=vq5CERXklqzwNBm5
@@SURCOlive thank you, i will come back later ^^ anyway thank you for the video. i am probably just reading the manual first.
I wish they’d update the menu structure for this. Feels kind of archaic after using the Digis
Which menu structure feels different?
@@SURCOlive most of the backend stuff on the RYTM (loading samples, MIDI settings, etc) and some of the retrig stuff. Maybe I’m crazy but the Syntakt/Tone/Takt feel just slightly more updated. With that said, RYTM is never leaving me.
@@chinmitten it might just be a function of the sharing of the analog synth controls with the sample controls. The Digis only have to handle one menu each. I feel like the sample loading menus are the same. The midi is really different for sure as that was added after the fact on the Rytm and is not very capable. The Digis are way better set up for midi use.
@@SURCOlive I don't know, I'm probably just a professional griefer. But thank you (and EzBot) for making Elektron boxes make a ton of sense! Would love to see a video on your rumble kick process next!
@@chinmitten Hahaha. I've never heard that put that way. you made me laugh. I was asking because I'm always interested in what others are encountering as difficulties to see if I can help or learn from them. Check out my (very long) live stream from last Sunday. A whole section on rumble kicks on the Rytm. :)
Nine long minutes 🫣
Counting down!
Maybe you can consider doing your videos in higher res - 1080p or more. At 720p the writing on the Rytm's screen is too blurry to read so it makes it a little harder to follow.
