At last Irelands answer to the SHEEP GAME I agree better sell them as stores as to put more money and work against them to get feck all more 👍👍👍keep up the vids great content
What do you pull with the second hitch on the trailer 👍 good videos . Good info and easy understand ya for a Cavan man . Says the clear spoken mayo man 😂
I can tow the handling system or the quad in the small trailer behind stock trailer. Not strictly legal and not simple to reverse...😀 it's like an Episode of Evenflows sometimes...🤣
Nice sheep, nice video - where are you injecting them, just behind the shoulder or further back? Normally do mine in the neck but your way looked quicker - my sheep know what’s coming so this way would get them of guard 🙂
Injecting halfway back, maybe a little further foward. I find there is plenty of loose skin to pull out in that area. Everybody has a different way but I find that works well for me.
A lot of bother around my neck of the woods with stray dogs, otherwise known as the family pet, which wouldn't hurt a fly, according to their owner's. It reminds me of the joke about a boxer in a ring who was taking a lot of punishment, when he came back to his corner, his corner man said you are doing great the other fella isn't laying a glove on you, to which our hero replied, you need to keep a eye on that referee because someone is beating the head off me.
Problem dogs are a sheep farmer's worst nightmare. Had plenty of trouble over the years but discovered a drastic solution. I always have the shotgun with me and shoot any dogs in field with my sheep. Thankfully the law is on our side on that one.. Dog owners do not realise a short chase, even without a single bite this time of year can cost a farmer thousands due to aborted lambs...
Good video lad I was thinking about getting a few sheep but I was just wondering if there hard to handle and do you need much money with feed and doses??
Hi Dermot, glad you liked it. A simple race like the one in video takes all the hardship out of sheep farming. Input costs are pretty small when you are understocked...
Hi Kevin, glad you are enjoying videos. I think I'm lucky to live in dairy country with good neighbours who like to have that wooly grass cleaned off before slurry season. Don't be afraid to ask in your local area...👌
I've been keeping some sheep for the last 10 yrs on 3acres i reclaimed. (Borrowed) I was thinking of buying more land so i would qualify for farm subsidies. Do you think it would be worthwhile as i never made alot out of what I've done so far. I just enjoy it?
I personally could not see the proceeds of sheep farming paying for the purchase of land. Unfortunately margins are just too tight. A better option maybe renting some ground which would be a fraction of cost depending on what area you are in...
Glad you enjoyed video.. It's a simple race I made up myself. Made front and back gate and used 8ft hurdles for the sides when I started, worked ok but easier to fill race with sheeted sides.
Your microphone is great. You can hear all the squishy noises made by the sheep walking through the mud going on the trailer.
Many thanks for producing very informative videos - really enjoyed the ones I have watched - keep up the good work
Thank you Frank, good to hear you are enjoying...😃
Mammy keeping an eye on things and keeping the tae flowing 🙂
Hi Una, can't beat the Tae....😜
Another great video Dave. Your fello Cavan man Adrian will have to give you a shout out! #ifarmwefarm

Good video again, keep them coming.. surprised ya turned down the cup of tea with mammy. 😁
🤣
Good sheep dog worth its weight in gold
thanks for the tips - I wish we had that much juicy grass in Portugal; it gets so dry in summer it's difficult. Great dog you've got there!
In Portugal, have to feed 5 months a year in the North. South probably 7?
Very interesting, David. Many thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it...👍
These are great videos. Can you please do a video on dipping and dosing and what time of year you do what.
Glad to know you are enjoying...👍 Not a bad idea for a video.. might do something on that after lambing...
@@sheepschool365 Lambing is the best time of year. At least it is in Mayo because I don’t have lambs dropping before April. 😂
Loving the videos keep them coming

@@sheepschool365How much approximately would i receive in farm subsidies for 8 acres with sheep on?
@@hammersdad2141 I believe the average subsidies is around €184 per hectare. €74 per acre.
Brilliant video where did you get the handling system I have a block of rented land be ideal

Hi I’m a new subscriber from a farming background
Thanks for subbing!
Good video what breed of sheep are they
Hi Jimmy, I will do a video in the near future on the breed and why they're working....👌
What is the name of that Fluke injection. Thank you
That one is Fascionix 34%. It's a generic version of Trodax which is no longer being manufactured..
The trodax was terrible stuff no harm its discontinued
What breed?
Lleyn sheep. All purebred apart from few texel lambs this year.
Co Antrim northern lreland
