That’s dope that Danny found solace. Dudes life was a lot for a person to go through and to come out on the better side of that with his heart intact, still hopeful and looking forward is a blessing worth cheering for. Gotta commend my brother on his work so far.
Also wanna give a shoutout to Cupcakke for quitting music when she felt it was a corrupt product for her even though she was making bank doing it. That kind of strength is commendable and that sacrifice for her faith is my favorite work of hers yet.

I have a different context on the opening track that makes me appreciate it a lot more.
Danny Brown had a listening party for this in Detroit at a venue called Deluxx Fluxx. This spot is a new venue in the city but it has been putting on many indie soft rock bands and tons of house music. It has the energy of a place that does these types of shows.
When I walked into the listening party for uknowwhatimsayin¿ it had a completely different energy. I almost felt like I was in The Shelter. Completely different crowd, the bass was heavier, the lights were dimmer, it even smelled more like weed than it did sweat and vodka.
Then after Danny walks out and does a little talking, this ominous beat drops and Danny’s not on his party shit, he’s just rapping. Mainly rapping about how he’s still the same Danny in essence. Not what he could easily be if he wanted to fit the usual vibe of what this venue would house.
The song is called Change Up and is about how he won’t change up but it completely changed the how the venue felt, in a really good way. This isn’t some full throttle intro that amps you up, but it definitely is a good gradual transition into what comes on the rest of the album. To me.

Yeah, it just seems like fantano was just looking for stuff to hate on the jack album.
Though in his possible defense, this review was two and a half years ago, and the bar was used in a different atmosphere/context here. Perhaps his opinion of it has changed? Or perhaps he views the surrounding lyrics as here as a better setup?
(likely it's just him wanting to find more reasons to justify his red flannel on jack's album though)

1thought Fantasy Atrocity Exhibition’s probably my second favorite. I just find this new album to be easier to listen to, which doesn’t necessarily make it better, but it means I’ll be listening to it more often. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to AE.

8/10 is definitely fair although what I like about it is I could definitely see myself listening to it in more situations than atrocity exhibition
TBH this felt like a DOOM album. kinda reminded me of Born Like this a little. even if it was less thematic like born like this was. im talking in terms of weirdness and song concepts. i felt like it was a solid release. but you right i couldnt pick up on a theme at all in this one. savage nomad was definitely a Heater, but yeaa theme song, i had no problem with that track. reminded me of what them new york rapper are doing now, (roc marci, conway and Gunn) pause tape loop style. but yeaa q-tip EXec Prod this tape it really shows. the beat for dirty laundry just screams Tip. peggy on this left waaay more to be desired but i was glad to hear his beat on 3 tears. but yeaa a just a hook on 'Negro spiritual'? thats it? i needed more from him.
