    cant stop coming back to this video, not because of the quality footage but this would be the fastest rugby player to ever brace the game. Dont think ill ever see this kind of speed again in rugby. usain bolt on a rugby pitch would look like this.

    This man is clearly the fastest man in world rugby. Great stuff Tonderai.

    1.50 is the quickest I've ever seen a rugby player run, insane

    • @marcel2942
      @marcel2942 10 лет назад +8

      its crazy. At 1:51 he's not even in the frame yet, then catches the guy at the other 22 in a few seconds!

      @shaneodriscoll4232 8 лет назад +4

      that was crazy don't get me wrong but have you seen the video where he accelerates through the chiefs defence like if he had proper Sprint training there's no thought that he's Olympic material

    • @TbYolo
      @TbYolo 5 лет назад +4

      He honestly should of became a Olympic Sprinter instead

  • @EoghanC
    @EoghanC 13 лет назад +9

    I remember watching this match live and thinking;
    "Holy hell, this kid belongs in the Olympics!"
    Shame he was plagued by injuries so much, he could have been a star for the Boks if he wasn't so unfortunate.
    Glad to find this video, thanks for uploading it.

      He did actually qualify for the Olympics but chose rugby instead.

    i have never seen a support line like the support line Chivanga ran to support the 8th man's try. He was cruising and not even breakibng a sweart. Damn!!

    The support play of chavangha, unreasonable. His speed..

  • @MetYsJa
    @MetYsJa 3 года назад +2

    I came back in 2020 to see this again. Still gobsmacked at the speed this guy did from.1:50. Apparently his 100m time was a 10.1

    • @paintedsmite3805

      His speed there is inhuman. Terrifyingly fast

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 2 года назад +2

      10.27, but it isn't an official sanctioned time. Realistically, probably 10.45.

      @@Garrett1240 that looks hella quicker than Carlin Isles on a rugby field

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 2 года назад +1

      @@MetYsJa Sure does, but Isles has an official 10.1 to his name. I bet Chavanga is faster over the first 30 meters but sprinting is an art form and has much to do with preserving energy as it does with explosive acceleration.

  • @katpiering123
    @katpiering123 12 лет назад +2

    i bet the commentators wished this guy played for NZ. Sadly he fell through the cracks of SA rugby union for some odd reason. He was the fastest wing ever in SA. Maybe the selectors didnt like his personality.

    Ngwenya is actually not faster. Both are from Zimbabwe and according to all the known stats Chavanga has a quicker time over 100m (10.40 vs Ngwenya 10.55). No argument is intended by this post.

  • @Ndinogona

  • @katpiering123
    @katpiering123 13 лет назад +2

    @kaino1990 this is how it looks when a 100m sprinter plays rugby. He holds the sprint record for 100m. in Zimbabwe. I heard he is the fastest rugby player in the world. But not the best wing though.

  • @RabbitholeIsrael
    @RabbitholeIsrael 8 лет назад +2

    I checked and Tonderai is the fastest rugby player of the last decade with the same 100m time as Carlin Isles which is 10.2sec, Joe Roko's time is 10.6sec.

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 4 года назад +1

      That's wrong. Isles has a personal best of 10.15 and Chavhanga's is 10.27. Isles was faster, though I believe Chavhanga was quicker over the first 20m or so.

    • @loots0533
      @loots0533 4 года назад

      The difference between 10.15 and 10.27 doesn’t tell full story and is perhaps not that much. Carlin running in a track training as a professional sprinter in US and Chavanga as a semi professional in Zimbabwe. Most sprinters have to train for months to reach their peak which last for only short period of the year. It’s not easy to compare where they both were at in terms of speeds at different times during there rugby career. However, it does look to me on that day that Chavanga was in peak sprinting physical condition. It’s hard to know for sure, but if I were to bet, I would reckon that he would have improved his personal best on that day. His speed and smoothness in his running style just looked unreal

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 2 года назад +1

      10.27, but it isn't an official sanctioned time. Realistically, probably 10.45

    • @Garrett1240
      @Garrett1240 10 месяцев назад

      @Jearbearjenkins you don’t know that for sure. If his unofficial time is 10.27 then you can bet your bottom dollar his actual time is more like 10.45.
