Did not know Joe Girardi was a time traveller. Take a look at the Oriole team photo, back row, player on the far left. Here in the 1920's he's already an Oriole, long before he became a Cub, Yankee, manager, etc.
did a presentation (we could pick anysubject) in college for a public speaking course on those dominant old oriole teams during the 1920s. experts said they would’ve easily contended for the pennant in either the national or American leagues.
Really interesting video! Just found your channel through it, and I'm happy to say that I now Hank Aaron'ed your subscriber count (upped it to 715) 😄 keep up the good work!
As good as Pankovits was in the minor leagues - he was nothing like Lefty Grove was in Baltimore from 1920 to 1924. Grove struck out over 1,100 batters in those 4 1/2 seasons - and he wasn't even 25 yet when he finished.
Oh, that's true, of course. I just have to mention Pankovits because he used to come into a store I worked in quite a lot, and I think he got a kick out of the fact that I recognised him from his 1988 (I think) Topps card.
Thanks for your interest in my let's play videos! I'm a bit surprised, however, that you find this sort of video uninteresting. You might want to try watching it before you simply dismiss it.
Lefy was my great uncle
Did you talk with him at all? I'd love to hear any stories you might have.
No i was only like 8 when he died, my dad had an autographed ball but it burnt up in a house fire about 10 years ago
We are from a small coal mining town in maryland and when the mine when out of business the family went everywhere so i never meet him

Yeah, and I believe it. They had an incredible pitching staff, especially in 1923.
7 Straight International League Championships
Man, I got 99 problems, and Lefty Grove ain't one
Thank you for this.

Thanks! Love the Hank Aaron reference, lol.
Not a day goes by I don’t reflect on Grove.
I call it the "Jim Pankovits problem" myself. But I love that jacket and tie Lefty has on in the OOTP graphic.

Max Bishop was another Oriole sold to Connie Mack
He might have won 400 games had the A’s gotten him before Baltimore.
What happened to games? I’m way more interested in the games you play than this stuff. Bring back some games!

I don’t find this uninteresting. In fact, it’s fascinating. I just miss the games.
