I was born in '93, so I had no idea that this was once a non-electrified goods line before it was the Dulwich Hill light rail. Thanks for recording and sharing this, it's giving me a new view of my home town.

I was born in 1991 and remember vaguely seeing goods trains go down the line from Marion Street and from the park by the creek in Haberfield. There are other parts of this video that are of a different line which diverted off that one, that does not exist anymore

I was born in '92, I was lucky enough to ride on this line once with my cousin in about 94-95 as a toddler before it closed and went under redevelopment. In many ways I still miss the 90s, alot of things felt better even if we didn't have a platform like RUclips to communicate on and share experiences with one another which I love.

I always wondered why they didn't electrify that inner-western line and run passenger services along it as well as the goods trains...

Captain Haddock It was electrified. The old catenary fixtures and stanchion foundations can still be found along what is now the tram line.....in a way, it now is a passenger line.

younger woman waving to the train with her kid (it looks like) at 2:05... these days would head down glued to their phone not even thinking of looking up to admire a train of all things shuttling past with the kid a mile behind her.
man, how the times have changed.

I have seen personally walk straight into a fountain because she just couldn’t bear to take her eyes off the magical screen on her mobile phone. I predict in the future a great business for chiropractors straightening out the bend in people’s necks. C 1 C2 C3 C4 & C 5 vertebrae

I would be so happy if they restored the old Darling Harbour Goods line.

    Great to see this!!
So had the line been closed to freight at that time? Who was putting the steam trips on Bevan? Thanks mate.

Yup, the yards were being redeveloped at that point. No more freight to there because it was all containerised and needed a much bigger harbour than Darling.
