I remember just before Christmas, my old og 3DS wouldn't charge. I wanted to give it to my older brother for Christmas, so I took it apart, learned how to gut the system, found out the problem (charger port broke off), resoldered the charger port, had to take apart the system 2 or 3 more times due to forgetting to plug stuff in, then finally got the thing to work. There's so many little ribbon cables that make the 3DS unusable if you forget just one. They're a pain to work on.
@@Astrid_A_H Something that was made so you can only play game from your country example Let's say you're American so your console will only play American games You can buy a game from Japan or Europe but it wouldn't work
Sounds like a ribbon problem, the ds line is notorious for that. Removing the ribbon from the hinge hole will require a tedious amount of work that can go south very fast is you aren't super careful. I recently had to do this for an og 3ds that I gave to my sister and it was a huge pain.

Finally, a video of the small 3ds. I have a japanese n3ds that i imported from japan and i recently got another that was broken to try and fix it. Now im tempted to fix the sencond one as well.
@@jayr6854 This is because, at the time, I didn't have any need to do so, as I bought the Japanese units for the design rather than for Custom firmware. nowadays if I want to use my systems for homebrew or custom firmware, I have an additional separate unit specifically for that purpose as well as a RED-DEV Panda Unit that I use for when I want to test a couple applications on it. personally, I've never had a need to change the region of the console when the FBI launcher and LumaLocalSwitcher are already sufficient enough for people to use when changing the applications region. As for this video specifically, I also said this because at the time, not that many people were doing disassembly videos for the N3DS Model and only the XL model. probably because these units weren't made as much as the XL units. I hope that answers your question.
Thank heavens! This helped my grandson find out how to take apart his new 3DS XL. He had issues with his games freezing and errors. Next thing we know, it wouldn't start. The blue light was on, but nothing on screen. He told me it turned out to be a loose connector for the game card slot.

watching this was pretty cool, honestly it brings me back to my n3ds xl that i haven't really touched because of the black screen of death.. I've been mostly scared to open it up since I can't seem to find out exactly what may be wrong with it and it and I've read it could just be a plethora of different problems, but this video has given me a bit of motivation to try looking into what could cause it some more
There's no upscaling on the larger n3DS XL units-games run at their native resolution on both consoles. They just look shit due to pixel density on the larger ones.
I have a very similar problem. I'm not really familiar with the 3DS, I bought a used one this year (yeah, maybe not the best idea but meh) already with cfw and stuff. But some days ago the console just shut off while I was playing, and since then it doesn't turn on again. The orange light appears if I connect the charger, but that's all.
I don't own new 3DS, but I guess that 3D slider is linear potentiometer. So for troubleshooting it you should check the resistance on it, than change position of slider and check it again. If resistance is changing according, then the problem is in ribbon cable. If not then you should try replacing it with any pot (same resistance) to see if it works, that may help you. Love you work. Keep it up!

okay smart guy, if you played a 3ds game on a 100 inch screen, would it look hd? no. because it is larger than the 3ds's screen. but does the 3ds's screen look bad quality if you use it on its own? no. it looks normal. the point he was trying to make is that making the pixels bigger downgrades the quality
Love it! I would love to keep seeing more 3DS, DSi, DS Lite videos. My love is the DS Lite and I’ve been having a hell of a time trying to reshell my first one. I took it apart and got most of it put back together but now it doesn’t turn on at all. The bottom screen just flashes white quickly on start up and then it turns off. 😕 May I could send it your way and you could fix it up? 😂😉
Hey, you might be able to get some system savedata from another console and put it on the internal storage. You'd need to use "ntrboot," which is a hack using a DS flashcart, a magnet (to simulate a closed lid state) as well as a button combination. You insert the cart, put the magnet in the spot where it turns the screen off in the regular OS, power off, hold button combination (start + select + x) and it'll boot into custom software. From there, you should be able to transfer across some system savedata (might need a bit of messing around) this would get you passed the initial screen, at the very least. So, if you don't end up getting the slider to work in the end for whatever reason, this is totally an option.
Depends, a blue light can turn on and the screen won’t go on, if it’s like that go to Nintendo because the 2DS XL’s are notorious for it, and some times 3ds
New3DS games aren't played at the native resolution, it has a slightly bigger screen compared to the old 3ds. But it looks far less stretched compared to XL ones.
For a quick and easy fix you can just measure the continuity of the slider's two points to the main board and replace the broken one with a regular wire. Dont know how good you are at soldering tho.

I had a similar issue with the 3d and my slider not working. Basically when putting the 3ds main motherboard back together I didn't align the flex cable for the audio/3d perfectly. There was some debris on the contact which I am sure was also an issue. After I removed the debris, carefully, and triple checked the alignment was perfect my 3d and slider worked again. Had nothing to do with the slider itself.
I might be wrong but I want to recall there being issues with 3d slider when people have messed around with FW, downgrading, upgrading and messing about making hybrid FW that can run newer games but being lower and etc. it might not be a hardware issue. guess you could measure it with a multimeter? both right at the slider and if you can trace the pins back to the motherboard measure them there too.

Does anyone know what parts are needed to replace in order to fix a new 3ds xl with a blue light and backlight but nothing on screen?
Very nice job pal, i like a lot that New Nintendo 3ds model, ¿Do you have some PSP 2000 videos? a friend of mine gave me three of those and i'm trying to refurbish one using all the pieces i have but i haven't made too much progress...
Still I don't get why you opened the console with the battery in, also I think those you tried to solder were just the holding pads and not the actually contacts of the 3d slider (i think).. maybe checking the power switch first was a better idea instead of replacing the buttons board... I don't really get why people like this
Can u repair my 3ds it dose not turn on it it dose but it's all black
Is the plastic slidey bit actually pushing the slider on the potentiometer?
