    Also damn, this really recontextualizes a lot of what we know about Battler. Everyone was surprised at his sudden change of disposition towards Beatrice upon understanding the truth, but this chapter really explains why.
    Battler really is just *that* good of person. Sayo literally confessed everything and yet he still found it in his heart to forgive her and even convince her to live. It really says everything about how good-natured he truly is.

      TBF Sayo did nothing wrong. She didnt kill anyone in the ends, all her plans fell since the Elders did solve the epitaph. She just activated the bomb and advised them to leave, all the massacres were from the Elders. Understanding this make us feel more deeply to Sayo, she had been holding the burden, the curse of this family since birth, could not share with anyone, her life was misery, her gender was misery, her body was misery, her identity was misery, her lovelife was misery, and at last she could confess everything to the person she wanted most, and be forgiven from him.

    The ending always makes me cry but I know this isn’t the end though there’s another chapter which is truly the ending what makes me still sad but relief though

    When the reality on October 6th ended, Umineko began truly. As readers/viewers we were kind of told the story backwards. Sayo died in the depths, followed by half of Battlers spirit (which becomes whole when an adult Ange invites Toya to that special Halloween Party at the orphanage) and thus becoming the endless witch inside her catbox as Lambda promised (with intend to endlessly trap Bern). As Lambda and Bern once told. What is a witch but a being who has overcome death. Sayos spirit was freed of human flesh becoming the witch that wields a power so great she could even possibly outmatch Featherine (as hinted by the power of endless 9 that protects the game master from outsiders). But as her goal is for battler to rip this witch apart and find her true self she does not comprehend her abilities, never leaving her domain and become a voyager like Bern, Lambda and Featherine. And yet, this ending of her human life and suffering that made Umineko and the games possible is so sad and beautiful at the same time. It's a shame higurashi is so much more popular - likely due to it not needing as much effort and thinking as Umineko. I hope Ryukshi let's us meet the golden endless witch again in the future.

      aside from Battler solves the epitaph, the other kakera I would not wish to see since it would not resolve the family tragedy. Sayo still born and Sayo's mum still be raped. Could even leads to Sayo/Lion being raped by Kinzo too and that's more fuck up.

      Ryukishi's editor (who was also his best friend) died in between episode 7 and 8, so the original episode 8 was lacking in a lot of ways. When he wrote the manga adaptation a few years later he fixed a lot of what was wrong with it.

      To leave room for interpretation concerning EP 7's Tea Party. If EP 8 of the VN showed us Battler and Beatrice's meeting in the context EP 7's Tea Party, like the manga does here, it would confirm the actual truth (the inside Eva's book).
      This would go against Umineko's message about how the real truth isn't all that important, and how the interpretation that gives you the most comfort matters more. The VN's choice of skipping their meeting, and only show us the moment where they're escaping the island was the better choice IMO

    • @Sir-Cumference
      @Sir-Cumference Год назад +12

      @@AskonDBZ I don't think confirming the actual truth goes against that theme necessarily. Ange herself had to acknowledge the real truth before she could overcome it with her own interpretation. The viewers can likewise view the manga-exclusive bits as a red truth, and choose how much of it they want to accept with a golden truth.
      IMO the benefit of including those bits is that regardless of whether you personally accept it, it's still fascinating to read in its own right. Stuff like Confessions gives us one of the most interesting psychoanalyses in Umineko.

    So if I am getting this right, were there two Battlers who went into the sea? The one who would become Tohya and the other who would become the Meta Battler?

    • @marin0the0magus
      @marin0the0magus 2 года назад

      Kind of, "meta battler" represents the battler who died (due to tohya's mental illness)

    • @Dezsr
      @Dezsr 2 года назад +25

      To simplify this : his "soul" "went to" meta world
      While His "body" wiped to shore and eventually lost memory

    • @Sir-Cumference
      @Sir-Cumference Год назад +8

      Yeah, you can see at 15:09 that Battler lost his coat, but at 18:42 he's suddenly wearing it. It's a hint that this isn't the physical Battler

    • @straypaper
      @straypaper 27 дней назад

      @@Dezsr well if you go by the "meta" explanation, it's not that Battler was split into "Amnesiac Tohya" and "Witch Battler". But rather the event of Battler losing his memory is causing him to recount his experience in Rokkenjima from a third person and dissociate from it. Tohya wanted nothing to do with being Battler, so Featherine/Ikuko took credit for the Battler character when she wrote the Golden Land, inadvertently turning "Battler" into one of its author/Witch despite Battler not existing in the real world (he kinda does but Tohya denied being Battler)
