  • In this hvac service call, we find the system completely empty of refrigerant. Preform a nitrogen leak search, find the leak, and make repairs. Then we preform a tightness test on the system with even more nitrogen!

    Gauges are so clean, gotta be new. Good video. That’s a problem spot for them products. Shannon knight suggested putting some armor flex in between and zip tie it.

      Rheem had suggested just the zip tie but the armor flex is a good idea... and yes they were very new when I made the video 😆

    i Just found two leaks on Rheem last week. One was workmanship and the other from the manufacturer.

  • @PaulZ154

    I have fixed that same leak probably around 10 times now on Rheem condensers. I talked to a Rheem rep and he told me that there is supposed to be a zip-tie securing the switch to the discharge line so it doesn’t vibrate and cause that stress fracture.

      Really? That’s interesting. I haven’t seen that at all and we are primarily installing Rheem for the past 10 years. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for it.

    If you bend a tube, it's probably good to do it slowly. I know time is of the essence for service calls/installs, but we're talking 1s vs 15s. Just bend to not overtax the tubing. A fast bend will cause cracks with metal fatigue. Give the metal time to sink into it's bent form. Seems weird, but this may have been the situation. In addition, you have to ask, would you get the service call if the install was not done perfectly? No. So are they milking it industry wide? Curious. Early install problems result in more work later. Is it the best practice? I'm not sure. This is ethics 101.

      @@HVACTechTips when you just sold a 60 ton 20 to 60 Plus air handler system with 1000 to 3000 feet of pipe and you have several hundred brazing connections. There’s no such thing as overkill when your reputations on the line.
      There’s no grabbing the line and pumping in until his beer can cold every time some old timer does that to one of these systems the compressors get munched.
      You just charge the customer $270,000 in equipment and another $65,000 plus in labor for installation you better do it right the first time.

    Any options for a fridge keep on tripping the GFCI..
    ( Daisy chain -probably- )
    Plugged in the outlet -
    Outlet connected to GFCI -
    Then back to the breaker outlet...
    As soon I plugged it in the outlet the GFCI trips?tried to reset doesn't respond.. turned off/on the breaker outlet..
    Then plugged it in again doesn't turns on just keep tripping the GFCI...
    Put a smaller fridge (new) doesn't trip?Any suggestions?

    • @HVACTechTips
      @HVACTechTips  Год назад

      Yep very common. Rheem has started using a zip tie to keep the sensor from vibrating. If you run across any that haven't started leaking, place a small piece of armorflex in between the sensor and discharge line then zip tie it.

  • @smacleod69

    I never had much luck with cal-blue to finding leaks. Big blue is much better. Also my boss heard from Rheem to put a vibration pad between that sensor and the discharge line to prevent that leak. You hear about that?

    • @HVACTechTips

    Aren't you supposed to pump the system down or pump the freon out before adding nitrogen? And then put the system back into a vacuum after doing so? I'm still learning but this looked so easy

    • @HVACTechTips
      @HVACTechTips  Год назад +3

      Yes you would need to remove the refrigerant before a nitrogen leak search. This system was empty when I got there. So after you find and repair the leak, you would then pull your vacuum.

    This information is great even for a homeowners like myself. I realize this was a hairline crack but you didn't apply a vacuum to the system and you didn't change the filter either. Wasn't it necessary even though the system wasn't completely open?

    • @Leon5495
      @Leon5495 11 месяцев назад +1

      He said he vacuumed it. And no. Filter is only necessary to change if you open up the system

      The system was open & filter should have been changed. Nitrogen should be flowing if flame is touching copper, imo.
