    My 101 grandma’s secret longevity moistening herbal soup especially to strengthen the lungs and to boost immunity.
    Ingredients
    1 piece chicken thigh or more if needed (skinned & parboil to rid scums)
    Herbal ingredients
    15g solomon’s seal/ yu zhu 玉竹
    3 pieces huai shan 淮山
    15g dried Longan 桂圆干
    25g dried lily bulb 百合
    10g gojiberries 枸杞
    5g cordycep flowers 虫草花
    6 small pieces chinese figs无花果
    3 pieces dried pears 雪梨干
    15g lotus seeds 莲子
    1.5-2 litres of water 清水
    Salt to taste 盐调味
    Bring water to boil in electric cooker or boil over stove top. When water boils add all the ingredients and simmer for 1.5-2 hours preferably 2 hours. Its ready. So easy, tasty and nutritious. Good immunity booster soup.

    I remember having this as a child. With my mum having CoVid I decided to make this for her. She loved it and helped to soothe her cough and chest as she recovers from her illness stint. Thank you so much for your recipe! I can truly recommend giving this a go. I bought the herbs in a ready made pack from a Chinese shop.

    Is it okay if I don't have all of the ingredients? I don't have lily bulbs, lotus seed, and pears. And, can I add shitake mushroom in here too?

      Yes you can use whatever herbs you have, its no problem. Tcm has so many Mix n match recipes. I add brazillan mushroom into my herbal soup last night and it was delicious.

    Not lotus seeds....they're fox nuts.

      It's lotus seeds with skins. Fox nuts are different n smaller in size.
