as a northern swede, troms and finnmark is exactly what I'm fucking looking for. I love being depressed
imo Its nice, but the winters get kinda depressing with the cold temperatures, less sunlight than the summer, and ice everywhere you walk. If you love winter then Tromsø (and the rest of troms) is very nice. Am not from Finnmark, but been there twice, and tbh its kinda depressing lmao. Mostly remembered Alta, the main city, as being kinda gray and depressing. Not many people live there either.
@@GodIsUnlimitedGood oh yea it's a vibe. if there are job opportunities there, I would not mind searching at all haha
I searched alta up, looks chill. I enjoy these small type of communities, as long as the people are friendly
I'm from the UK and lived in Bardufoss, around an hour and a half drive from Tromsø for a year. I loved it and didn't find it depressing at all. I'd gladly give up the sun in the winter in exchange for the northern lights. 😊
But yes, the ice can be challenging to walk on.

To me, a lot of Scandinavia's charm is that it isn't so densely populated, it's got beautifull nature, and you can walk over 50 meters without meeting a man-made structure, unlike the Benelux.
