It's crazy how Bones makes running up the stairs so detailed. They're just flexing at this point lol. Also, Ritsu really got the shit beaten out of him huh? I think Shimazaki might be my favorite antagonist in the series because Bones brought out his gives no fucks and doing shit for the lulz personality really well. They also made his teleportation so damn cool too.
Even though I feel bad for Ritsu getting hurt and all, but Shimazaki is so awesome I can't stand it he's so good. Well done Bones, for animating this perfectly.
0:58 We see hear that Ritsu actually has some decent combat creativity. It's just a shame that this wasn't a fight that could be won with enginuity alone
the way teleportation is portrayed is fantastic. So many anime give it severe limitations on such an OP ability, it's refreshing to see it just dominate.
An amazing little directing trick with the Shimazaki fights is that the camera is almost never on him when he goes in and out of teleporting. It makes his movements just as predictable and stealthy to the audience as it is to his opponents. It's probably the best I've ever seen fights involving teleportation ever animated.
By far one of my favorite things that Studio Bones does is capturing the essence of abilities through the same shot sequence. I remember in Hero Academia, during UA invasion arc, when All Might appeared, they showed All Might in the background at the top of the stairs while the fodder villain was talking. There was this comment that said how any other studio could've simply done a close of up All Might, show him move, then go to a cut of him hitting the villain, but, instead, Bones did it so that you see the villain close to the screen and All Might far in the background, but show him disappear and hit the villain to have you really get a visual understanding of his speed and the distance he covers. Similarly here, the shot with Ritsu being knocked back (1:07) I like a lot because it's so visually appealing to see Shimazaki still there, but the small moment where Ritsu covers the screen and reveal the same spot, but Shimazaki is gone. I find it a nice touch and animation trick that I think really helps show the extent of Shimazaki's power more.
I don't think people really appreciate Shimazaki being blind and how it helps him. A problem with teleportation as an ability is that the sudden change in visual perception would probably cause a huge mental loop back that would definitely unbalance you. The fact that Shimazaki doesn't have to deal with that makes him a much more efficient teleporter, in fact I am sure that's why ONE made him blind.
@@shrimpman. while he did not know shimazaki was blind Sho literally tells Ritsu “He’s a teleporter that can read people’s movements” at about 0:37 Ritsu should know he can teleport and a smoke screen would not help
So can there be like a petition for studio bones to like a historical landmark but like for anime because we definitely don't deserve them I swear every episode of this series has been a work of love and art
My fav thing about this fight is Ritsu has not received the information Shimazaki is blind. Sho knows it but doesn't tell Ritsu, the others know from the TV broadcast where Shimazaki himself says it, which Ritsu didn't see. So Ritsu tries to make a smokescreen from the fire extinguishers and water as though he's fighting someone who is relying on their vision. Little details like that are what really make me love how Bones pulled this series off.
Everyone in the comments saying there was too much talking and not enough fighting are weak. I'm over here thriving on Shou and Ritsu's great character dynamic and development PEACE ✌
